Second Chance Prom Fundraiser

Small town here. A 2008 graduate passed away in July. She was loved by everyone.

Her mother was part of a very small group of 08 parents that worked together for years on the various different fundraising and things the school did.

This small group of parents is now thinking of getting back together and doing a Second Chance Prom Fundraiser. (She was Prom Queen) This year, we would put the money towards a bench to be placed in the court yard at the high school and in future years the money would be a scholarship fund.

Any ideas you can throw out there on how to do a Second Chance Prom fundraiser?

We would probably do it at the high school, probably a DJ and some door prizes.

What ideas do y'all have?

Are you looking for an event, like to get together... or for money mostly?

Sorry, I re-read and it looks like you want a yearly idea.
I was just going to suggest going to a local artist to have a bench made and ask them to donate part of the cost... and ask for cash donation to pay the rest.

Can you explain the "Second Chance Prom" concept a bit? When I first read your post I thought maybe the 2008 prom was cancelled. Now I'm think I'm getting it - you are planning a "Prom" for fun for people of all ages, to be used as a memorial and possible annual fundraiser, right?

Is this a "Prom" for adults or kids, or both?

This prom would be for older people. People who have at least already graduated. Such as myself and DH. We never went to prom together because we didn't know each other then.

Also, the bench we are purchasing, we are purchasing from our district's Education Foundation. The EF, is doing a fundraiser selling bricks and benches to be placed in a courtyard at the high school. You can have things printed on either.
