Monday Morning

We left our camera in the room today so no pictures.

Since we didn’t get to Downtown Disney last night, we decided to go to Downtown Disney this morning. DW loves to shop and we must always make time to feed her addiction. LOL

After shopping and spending lots of money we headed to the Beach Club to eat at Beaches and Cream. On the way we had a nice conversation with the bus driver. A very nice guy originally from Michigan. He was a DVC member, owning at Vero Beach. He said it was the greatest thing he ever did, besides moving to Orlando. This guy was a true addict – he said after working all day he was heading to Epcot that night to enjoy one of the Flower Power shows. He said he had been there the night before also.

After our hamburgers and sodas we took another dip in the pool then headed for the Magic Kingdom.

The weekend we were there was the weekend that WDW puts on the graduation parties for the local High Schools. Therefore they closed Magic Kingdom early then kept it open late on Monday. As a result, the park was very crowded when we arrived. It was also the hottest day of our vacation with temps probably about 95 and high humidity. We felt great after our dip in the pool so it was kind of fun to people watch all the people who had been there all day and should have gone back to their hotels for a dip. Instead they were trying to get their money’s worth and were hot and miserable.

We got fastpasses for Space Mountain, then got in line at Buzz Lightyear. We struck up a conversation with a lady behind us in line with three kids in tow. Very brave in my opinion. Her young niece was visiting so she had taken her kids out of school to take everyone to the Magic Kingdom for the day. It was pretty obvious that this was going to be the last ride of the day, the kids were pooped. She and her family used to live in Cleveland but had moved to the Orlando area about 2 years prior for a job change for her husband. They really enjoyed living in Florida though being away from family was kind of tough.

After Buzz, we used our Space Mountain Fastpasses then headed for Frontierland. It was very crowded. So much so that we skipped the Haunted Mansion – 60 minute wait. I think the 9/11 stigma is over. We decided to get fastpasses for Splash Mountain but on our way a nice person gave us theirs so we walked right in instead. How often does that happen? The water felt great and we headed for dinner at the Crystal Palace.

At the Crystal Palace we sat next to a family from Atlanta. They had arrived very early the night before, driven all night. They were celebrating their daughter’s birthday. She was 3. What a cute little girl. We got a kick out of watching them as they relit her candle four times so they could get just the right picture as she blew it out. She was very patient. I doubt that she will be that patient when she is 12. The food is always so good at the Crystal Palace. We feasted on roast duck, wild mushrooms and prime rib. Yummy.

We left the restaurant just in time to watch the Magic in the Sky fireworks but missed Tinkerbell again. Does anyone have a picture of Tinkerbell?

By the time we got back to our room it was late so we went to bed.
