We going to WDW for our first anniversary and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for viewing the Wishes fireworks in a more secluded/romantic area of either the MK or any of the resorts/areas of WDW.

I understand people watch from Polynesian resort but from what i have read on these boards alot of people do that so wouldnt be that secluded with shat sounds like big crowds.

thanks in advance

I don't think you'll find any places that are "secluded" in the sense of being alone. However, therre are some locations that are more romantic than others. One is the Polynesian beach. Another is on top of the Contemporary Resort where you can go out on the observation deck while dining at the California Grill. We did the latter and it was very romantic!!

I think the only way you're going to find 'secluded' Wishes viewing is to book an MK view room at one of the monorail resorts.

Any place at the MK with a good view of Wishes is going to be absolutely packed with people.

Even at the resorts, it's going to be tough to find a quiet spot. Case in point: my mother and I were staying at Conch Key at GF last week. While walking back to the building along the marina, we noticed a bench at the end of the walkway, and thought that would be a nice place to watch Wishes later that evening. At that point, it was peaceful and quiet by that bench, not another soul in sight.

We came down at a few minutes to nine, and there was a family of four on the bench, and at least three other families standing behind it.

So, in all seriousness, if it's important that you be alone, I think your only option is to get an MK -view room.

We watched Wishes from the GF grounds, but not the dock. Just move a little further to the left right outside the Sago Cay building. We stood by the fence near the water and there was no one else on our side. The crowds were gathered right outside the foodcourt near the marina. I considered it secluded and romantic for us.

On most "regular" nights there are just a handful of people watching from the Polynesian and there are alot of spots along the beach there to Sunset Pointe that are good and semi secluded.

True from reading the posts it seems like its wall to wall people but really most nights its not.

In 2001, my DH and I were at Ca Grill for fireworks. We were there on the Grand Plan (now called Platinum) and I don't know if that's why we got this or if our waiter was just nice or if it was just dumb luck. But we were taken to a private observation deck to watch Wishes. Everyone else was out on the regular deck but our waiter unlocked this door and we got to go out privately and we couldn't even see or hear the people on the other observation deck.

So I don't know if you booked dinner there and told them it was your first anniversary if that is something they do.

We've eaten at Ca Grill many many times but this was the only time we got offered this.

There are two decks at California Grill and as far as I know any customer can use either. Most people, however, tend to flock to the first deck not realizing that there is a second. I've never heard of a private deck but it may exist.

You could also look into booking a Moonlight Cruise (so-called because, while Wishes occurs pretty much every night, it possibly could potentially be cancelled due to weather, and there are no refunds on the cruise).

Call 1-407-WDW-PLAY 90 days in advance, at 7 AM eastern time.

Each boat holds up to ten people, but once you book it it's 'yours', and you can have as few as one passenger, up to ten. So you can book it for just the two of you.

Last February we watched from the beach at the Polynesian. There were only a few people that were far enough away that we could barely see them in the dark.

We booked a Wishes cruise to watch the fireworks this past May for my husbands birthday. It was fabulous. well worth the $$$. I would do it again.

Actually there are quite a few spots that haven't been mentioned. One is along the beach area past teh monorail station outside the MK.

Another is down through the rose garden near the old swan boat loading area in the MK.

And the most amazing--but also very expensive--option is to book the Grand One yacht.

THe rose garden is sectioned off for vips or special parties -- I can't remember the last time they let regular people in there as I was passing by.
