Go sec! We rock...................!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baaahhhh, don't be hatin'!
SEC!![]()
Nah - no "hatin" going on. Just from personal experience, SEC fans (certainly not all) tend to lack class (some responses in the "Colt" thread are great examples). My brother-in-law is an SEC fan and one of the most classless people I know concerning sports (otherwise, he's a pretty good guy).
I'll stick with Penn State and the Big 10!!![]()
I'll take the Big 10 any day - even in their absolute worst season - over any SEC team at their "finest"hour.

I am a huge Alabama fan, and I usually support the SEC in any bowl or non-conference game. However, I have always liked Penn State. When I was a teenager, I thought I wanted to go to school there because of their outstanding engineering program. (Too far north and too far away from home, though) Anyway, even though I was given grief by others, I was cheering for Penn State against LSU. So see, not all SEC fans are fanatical jerks!I think you can have that in any conference, though. Some friends of mine are Virginia Tech fans and are about as fanatical (and obnoxious) as you can get!
I agree (cept I say Go Bucks!!) !! A classy team would have taken a knee last night in respect to the other team at the end...but not the SEC...
Not a sore loser either...but something I've noticed in all my years of being a college football fan. And no...I'm not saying that EVERY FAN OF THE SEC is classless...but when it comes to sports...I think as a whole the SEC are sore winners...
Unfortunately, that has been my experience as well. By the way - congrats on the win over Penn State this season. I was at that game with my sister. My neighbor gave me the tickets. So glad I didn't pay for them!!That was a very hard game to watch. I still say Penn State lost, because I attended the game!
That and the fact the team never showed up that day. There was a helicopter flying over during the entire game. My sister said they were doing a search for the team!!

Big congrats on the win over LSU!! DH had money on LSU, but personally I was rooting for the Big 10!! Gotta root for your conference when it comes to Bowl Games!!![]()

I agree. Being surrounded by sports 24/7 and not being a real football fan in general I've had the opportunity to watch how fans behave. I'm around sports and HUGE sports fans every day. And it is the SEC fans, in general, that are sore winners. They are the braggers and gloaters who can't GENERALLY admit that the other team played well too. There are exceptions but as a general observation it is absolutely how non-SEC lovers see SEC fans. In true form, they will call it jealousy.
That final TD was disgusting and unnecessary especially given the circumstances. Nothing shows grace and good sportsmanship like rubbing the other teams nose in it.
What always strikes me as funny is that the SEC actually has 'fans.' No other conference has fans. No one says they are a "Pac 10" fan. No Texas fan is going to root for Oklahoma in a bowl game, period. It doesn't matter that they are in the same conference. No Oregon State fan is going to root for the Ducks or USC, ever. It's that whole "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing.
Every Oregon State fan I know rooted for Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
Texas fans MAY root for A&M or Tech on rare occasions but that has to do with being from Texas not conference.
I'm sure there are classy SEC fans, it is just that the obnoxious ones give you a bad name.
Absolutely!!And I was soooo happy to see Ohio State win it's bowl game. My sister attended Penn State and HATES Ohio State (and Michigan State and Michigan and Iowa and...). She was cheering on the Ducks, but I was going with the Big 10 - even if it did hurt!!
I just want to see the Big 10 do well. I would love for it to be Penn State each and every time, but know that's not possible, so I will take any of the teams in the Big 10 over any other conference any day.
You know...to me a classy coach would have taken a knee at the end...there was no reason for that last touchdown.![]()
So, were you cheering for Iowa in the Orange Bowl as well?
I'm with you. I have personal ties to 4 Big Ten schools - undergrad at Purdue, medical school at Indiana, on faculty at Iowa, and my sister and is on faculty at Ohio State.
I always cheer for the Big Ten schools in bowl games, even Northwestern and Ohio State, the two teams that beat us this year.
And when my team wins, I can be happy WITHOUT putting down the losing team. It's called sportsmanship, which some (not all, but some rather vocal ones here) SEC fans appear to have never learned.
