Sebastian's STRONG and SVELTE Under the Sea September W.I.S.H. Weight Loss Challenge - All Welcome!

hey I just noticed my old avatar has returned!! yay!! that is the Arthritis Foundation's icon ...my daughter was diagnosed with systemic onset Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when she was in kindergarden..and she's a first year at University of Cincinnati this fall! we say 'first year' bc she is co-op program and it's 5 years. anyhow, proud of her! miss her too!

QOTD - September 16

It's Wednesday! Woohoo!!!!

What is making you woohoo today? Or laugh, smile, cheer, giggle, and jump up and down?

Woohoo for today.... definitely has to be chuckling at some of the funny stuff that my students said this morning! Art Linkletter had it right (back in the 1950's) when he stated that "kids say the darndest things!"...... like when the music teacher played a song for the kids today called the "Fruit Song" (we are going apple picking tomorrow) and one 4 year old asked if it was a Tom Petty song!!

Thanks! I was totally shocked but very excited! Here's a link to one of my recent videos All Too Well || Kelsey Van Praag (Taylor Swift Cover) It's a Taylor Swift cover and I know some people aren't fans of hers, if you are one of those people there are over 100 other videos on my channel haha.

I actually like TS.... thanks to my fangirl DD! I'll check it out when I get home.... I'm quite certain that the school internet filter would NOT allow it here!

Thank you! I make them for myself. I started back in 2008 when I was 12. I was basically really bored and wanted to be a singer so I started posting. I get paid for ad space on my videos so basically it just puts short commercials in front of my videos. At this point, however, I also work as a consultant and I help businesses start and manage YouTube accounts.

Wow! Busy girl!

****************

Hey all! I'm working in the office this afternoon instead of the afternoon kindergarten class.... they needed someone who knew how to work Powerschool and the phone system, so they pulled me out of K and put in another sub. Oh well.... at least I get to go APPLE PICKING on the field trip tomorrow!!:thumbsup2

That being said, I wasn't able to get in my walk because I didn't get the luxury of the Kindergarten planning period..... but I can do it this afternoon/evening after I get dinner going.

Since I've had some free time today (being in the office I'm sometimes slammed and sometimes bored!) I've been amusing myself looking into things for Mom and I to do in Bermuda. If we could just find a few more AFFORDABLE things to do, it would be great. The tours (bus tours and walking tours) are crazy expensive.... and Mom isn't feeling like she could do stand-up paddleboarding (although I think she could) so we will probably rent kayaks instead.... but I might still do SUP with DD on the weekend we are there (if I'm not out of money!) Mom is also claustrophobic, so no cave tours unless I go alone.

I'm off to look productive here! :lmao:................P

Kelsey, you have a very sweet, sweet voice! Welcome to our very diverse group...you are off to a great start!

Another Whoohoo Wednesday! Had a great workout today. Met a new person, Lorraine....she has such positive energy....she practically beams! You can't help but smile on the outside and on the inside when you talk to her. This was "my joy" at the gym today. Every time I work out I try to find one thing that gives me "joy" during the workout. Lorraine was my joy for today!

Shopping trip was a success - not only did I get another 4,000+ steps on my Fitbit for the day, but I also managed to score not one... but TWO new light-weight sweater/cardigan/outerwear things. And the best part? Roxy sized MEDIUM. That's two sizes down!

This "Woohoo Wednesday" event has inspired me tonight to start Couch to 10K. During my lunch I asked myself: "Why am I waiting until Sunday when I can do it today? What am I waiting for?" The weather is gorgeous today and I am feeling a wave of inspiration as I see my progress in the clothing labels I'm purchasing. Waiting until next week is just going to push it out and I know that something else will inevitably get in the way.

Every time I work out I try to find one thing that gives me "joy" during the workout.

This is really a great sentiment and something that I'm going to steal because I sometimes feel like working out isn't always joyful. But reading about your experience makes me think that maybe I, too, can find joy by simply looking around my surroundings and enjoying the people and things around me.

I've got a new woohoo! I just learned I don't have to go to London for a mere 32 hours in October!!! Yay!!!

Your voice is just beautiful!!! What a gift!

Whoohoo workout day! I'm taking my pink scooter to town to work out! I love riding on my scooter. I feel young and free (even though I'm an old gal!) I try to talk to someone new every time I go. I get workout tips. One day I had an opportunity to share with new people. I'm right now draining my swimming pool for the winter....which brings mixed feelings....sad to see summer ending....but love, love the fall! And I'm going to a warm weather place in two weeks, so what's the down side? Feeling strong! Feeling happy!

Love the pink scooter!!!

I missed reporting yesterday on my goals so far this month...so here it is. One of my goals, besides the weight loss, was increasing my water. I chose a modest amount because I haven't been successful drinking the 6 - 8 glasses a day. Well, I did okay for three days and then on night four I got this awful episode of urgency to use the bathroom every minute, literally, every minute. It lasted two hours and was just terrible. So I cut back on the water and things are okay. So...I have a dilemma that needs a look see as to why I can't drink all that water. I'm not beating myself up over not accomplishing this goal. I will go see a urologist after my vacation. Otherwise, I feel really good.

Yikes! I think you should definitely not be drinking all that much water until you find out what is going on. I'll admit I drink a ton and spend half the day in the bathroom as a result but what you are describing just sounds painful!

QOTD:

I dragged myself out of bed early this morning to go for a run! And despite feeling lousy and never really getting into it, I did run! I treated myself with some full fat yoghurt with my breakfast müsli for it. I have decided that I need to experiment with different dairy products as I was getting tired of what I was eating. And even though the full fat yoghurt has more calories, if I eat less of it, I will still be within my daily calories. So, that's a new experiment I started today!

Well done!! Such a great start for you! Just keep in mind that often at the start of a weight loss programm you often have a larger loss than later on. :goodvibes

Sounds like a great dress! :thumbsup2

Oh, so sorry for your problems! Have you considered looking into exercises for the pelvic floor muscles? My doctor keeps going on about how I need to work for those being strong to prevent exactly such problems...

Woohoo!

Congratulations - that's amazing progress and you should be so proud of yourself! :D

Isn't that the best feeling? I wear dresses to work because it's like wearing a nightshirt to work -- no pants! Congrats on having your "clothes grow a bit" :D

The first week was hard to adjust for me, so I understand that feeling of hunger. Having an apple or banana handy will help, plus those 1-2 point snacks as well. WW makes these great 1 pt ice cream bars that tend to do the trick in the afternoon when you get that 3pm hunger. I also like the Yoplait Greek Yogurt - 2 points. Having those little snacks and an apple usually gets me through the work day. Do you track activity points as well? On the mobile app we get points through fitbit and I tend to only eat what I earn. I believe each point is 40 calories and to earn an activity point means you have to burn 100 calories, so you get a netloss of 60 calories. I usually will only eat what i earn so I don't indulge too much. I am usually within 1-2 points of my daily limit. I have 26 points per day and there's just some days I go to 27 or 28 because I just 'need it'. You'll learn through this program your own routines and signs and how to adjust them. Please keep us posted on your progress!!! :)

Those sound like some great snacks to look into! Today was definitely better but I need to do some serious grocery shopping this weekend. I do have my Fitbit synced so the activity points are there too. I wish it synced a little more frequently but it doesn't really matter in the end. Currently weekly points are being used first since I need to login to a real computer to change the order and I haven't had the chance to do that. Are you eating your weekly points or just sticking to the activity points?

I'm taking a bit of a longer lunch today and doing a little retail therapy. :yay: My zip-up hoodies are too big and I really need one that isn't Disney-related. (I was smart when I bought my 60th Hoodie and went a size down and it fits perfectly - but I don't want to wear it to work). I'm going to the Roxy store at a local outdoor mall to see if I can find a replacement and then grab a Subway sammich after. The weather has started to cool off so I am looking forward to sitting outside and just enjoying the moment. It's equal parts walking (I'm going to park on the far end of the mall for bonus steps) and exercising my wallet.

LOL. I read this at least five times trying to figure out why anyone needs sixty hoodies.... And then I remembered the 60th Anniversary!!!

absolutely love the energy this month! I can't keep up! well being honest I can't keep up with life and my house and unpacking...but this is definitely more inspiring! and those Halloween rice krispie treats are about the cutest I have ever seen! TY for posting,

again :thanks: for the awesome hostessing job!!!

I cannot imagine tracking for 3 days let alone 3 months!!! wow!! i'm super uber impressed. I have been struggling with rejoining MFP and past two days I've made it till dinner then went, i'm good.....NO this is not good enough. I need to remember the pride I feel when I see I've logged in multiple days in a row knowing the struggle it is for me mentally to journal. it's always been my struggle. and so like you, I need to look at myself and say...girl, what you are doing isn't working...time to do something else!

Woo hoo Wednesday! the first week home from vaca is tough for me...steroid withdrawal after above mentioned extra-doses to keep up with the travels and long days..and it just flares my Addison's in general. normally on gym days I go ride the bike for 20-30 mins (depending on which class day) and then go to class. now I go to the retiree classes but they are perfect for me and actually Wed class is no joke, it's circuit training and hard. so i'm proud to say though I haven't been there in time or energy to do my bike riding too, I have made it to class both Mon and today!! i'm going to be away part of next week visiting friends and if I skipped this week that would be 4 weeks out of the gym!! too long! so though my WO are wimpy, they are something and they were done!!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I actually kind of like tracking. Data makes me happy (which is very sad). I just wish tracking made me a little more inspired to eat better on its own.

Woohoo on the return to the gym!

Shopping trip was a success - not only did I get another 4,000+ steps on my Fitbit for the day, but I also managed to score not one... but TWO new light-weight sweater/cardigan/outerwear things. And the best part? Roxy sized MEDIUM. That's two sizes down!

Coming out of lurkdom to say, very nice! I have two girls who sing. The older will be 25 next month. She sings and plays guitar. The other is 12 and just sings for now, but she is also an aspiring YouTube star. I'm going to share your channel with them. They'd enjoy it a great deal.

Way to go on the weightloss and your career!

LOL. I read this at least five times trying to figure out why anyone needs sixty hoodies.... And then I remembered the 60th Anniversary!!!

D'oh. Yes, the 60th anniversary hoodie is what I meant. It's really cute -- all grey with Mickey and Friends in their best blue and silver attire.

I hope you had a GREAT run!

The run was interesting. After running the 5K with no training and pushing myself through this, the first day of C25K was really... underwhelming? I got through it and used it more to start pacing my breathing. Not trying to get around other runners but really taking that moment for myself to say: "Okay self. You're building up stamina. Go for stamina and not speed"

Morning all! Just a quick check-in to say hi for the day! I'm subbing in K again today and will be off on TWO field trips! I see lots of apple snacks in my future today! That reminds me, I need to grab some cash so that I can buy a bag of apples while I'm there!

Got in 60 minutes of exercise last night....... feeling good about that.

TTYL......................P

Good morning! The past few days here have raised so many topics for good QOTDs. And I'm going to use them in the next week. But first, we need something a little more fun. And more relevant to our inspiration -- Sebastian!

The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies because of the soundtrack (and well, because I'm a redhead). The songs always just make me want to dance. Music leads to activity! So without further adieu....

QOTD - September 17

Music! What's on your playlist, mixed tape, permanent replay? What gets you going? What songs leave you boogying in the aisle of the grocery? Power your through the run or ten extra minutes on the elliptical?

QOTD - I typically listen to podcasts when I run which is good and bad. Good because I think it's more of a distraction from the feeling of wanting to die lol. But bad because I find that I usually don't absorb what I'm actually listening to.

I'd like to run to sounds of the Disney parks, ride queues, etc. but I don't have the data to stream music. Anything downloadable that anyone knows about?

Steal Away! It really helps to change your perspective. Being mindful brings new experiences into your world. And it changes how you look at everything....even things you don't necessarily enjoy.

Good for you with the shopping finds! Things to wear over an outfit that match are really hard to find. Especially when you just need a little something but not too much. My arms get cold in the air conditioning. So in November it's cool in the morning...could be hot late afternoon and then cool at night! My biggest issue is where to put the sweater or lightweight outer thingy when it gets too hot in the parks! I agonize over this...what to do?

The Fight Song....I hear it at the gym...it keeps me peddling!

Oh sorry the shopping reference was for a prior post. And...good gosh...London! Exciting!

Thursday Morning....I'm feeling good. I did a weigh-in today...just wanted to take a chance. I've lost more weight! The increase in calories and added exercise is showing results. And....I'm not starving every single day! I've been hungry for a year now. So...got to be careful still. I did go to a luncheon this week with former co-workers. I knew there would be food...food I don't normally eat. I chose very carefully and did not overeat. I also had some dessert...chose that carefully too. She had these filo dough filled cups, very tiny, you can buy them in the frozen section already cooked. She filled them with cream cheese and natural fruit jelly, topped with a raspberry. Very reasonable calories. I think I'll make these for Thanksgiving. Anyway...did really well and did not feel deprived that day. So...September is looking good so far!

I am ashamed to admit this but nothing pumps me up more than listening to Donny Osmond sing "I'll Make a Man Out of You" before I begin my workouts. It's the best warm-up song because by the time it's done I feel like I'm ready to take on the world. Anything with a good beat will keep me going after -- anything Lady Gaga, "Uptown Funk" (Mark Ronson), "Shut Up and Dance" (Walk the Moon), "Starships" (Nicki Minaj), etc are all on my Spotify workout list right now so I can move to the beat and keep going.

Sometimes I'll take a dance break in my office during my workday. I often have the need to just need to close my office door, turn up the volume of Spotify, and dance it out. :)

My playlist is very fast paced music, except for long runs which I run slower, and therefore the music is slower paced. They funny thing is when I first started running, I did not particularly care for the music I was listening to. I used songs I knew had a quick steady pace from hearing them in spin classes at the gym. But over time, I have started to enjoy it more, and even choose to listen to it whenever I need some energy (think folding piles and piles of laundry). I have a lot of Pitbull, Rhianna, Bruno Mars. I love Foo Fighters and Imagine Dragons, but those tend to fall to my slower playlists. Although I love to warm up to "Learning to Walk" by Foo Fighters and "Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons is great for running and feeling pumped.

Fun musical tidbit from my last Princess Half Marathon. I was just coming out of the backstage area and entering onto Main Street when the song "Feel the Moment" by Christina Aguilera and Pitbull came up on my shuffle list. I swear I did not plan it! It was awesome, and after my sister and I stopped a couple quick times for selfies together by the castle and by Buzz and Woody for our sons, and the song restarted when I got going again. It was just perfect. Everytime I hear that song on a run now, I can easily picture running up Main Street with the cheering crowds, and it is very uplifting!

well my avatar is gone again....weird

anyhow, day 2 of journaling.. whew

playlist -- well I'm pretty much all over the board and love the new iTunes library and amazon prime music for varying my playlists. but you are right...songs can trigger memories from awesome moments in a race/event; that one is especially a good one! I like anywhere from Prince to Nirvana to Franki Valli and the Four Seasons...just depends on my mood ;) and my workout playlist is definitely a hodge-podge for it!

Hey, everybody! Taking my lunch break to check in here. So, so sorry I was MIA yesterday... Thank you for noticing/mentioning me, though, @DisPup75 ! :goodvibes It was definitely NOT a Woohoo Wednesday over here. It was more like an Eeyore Wednesday. It was pretty bad.

[Warning - Mild pity party below!!! Feel free to skip on to the red section pertaining to today's QOTD - I won't be offended!]

Monday my boss emailed me and told me that I need to do better about getting to work on time. I've known for a while that was coming! I am chronically late to EVERYTHING I do (but I read an article that means I'm more optimistic and a happier person, so does that make it better? LOL) - not hours or anything, but almost always 5-15 minutes late. Sometimes 30-45 on really bad days. I ALWAYS have the worst guilt about it, too, and it's frustrating because people just assume that if you're late, you're being rude or you just don't care enough to get there on time... But that's not the case for me!! But try as I might, I just don't get places on time. I've tried changing the clocks so I think it's later than it is, but that doesn't help, because I remember that I changed the clocks so I just figure out the "real" time LOL. Mornings are really rough because of all the road construction going on. Lately it hasn't mattered WHEN I leave my house, the earliest I get to work is 15 minutes after I should be here. So Monday, I took a different route, and clocked in 1 minute early! YAYYYY! So I told my boss so sorry, no worries, won't happen again - 100% meaning it.

....then yesterday morning I slept through 2 hours of alarms on my phone and 2 hours of the clock radio going off at full volume, and woke up 15 minutes after I was supposed to be at work. I ended up being an hour and ten minutes late yesterday, and I felt HORRIBLE because I had just gotten done telling my boss I wouldn't be late again. So I apologized profusely, told her what happened and that I was going to start getting to bed earlier so that I wouldn't run into this issue again, and she was a little perturbed (apparently right when she got in, someone had asked her where I was, and she didn't know, which obviously doesn't look good on either of us) but understood. :scared:

Then there were a bunch of issues with the bachelorette party plans because fewer people are actually coming than initially said they would, so we no longer meet the minimum group number required for the painting class, and I didn't see a reason to have those few people drive in from out of town (most of our friends live in the town where we went to college, which is about 45-60 minutes away from Memphis) just to go to dinner for a couple of hours, so it looked like we were cancelling the party. All in all, I could use the extra weekend to get stuff done, but it still sucked. But long story short, the painting place will still let us do the class with the group we have (half the minimum requirement) but we have to pay the same amount, so everyone is going to end up paying more per person, or I need to find a way to come up with the extra money so that everyone's per person price stays the same. Double sigh.

Oh, did I mention that despite napping when I got home from work yesterday, AND going to bed about 1.5 hours earlier than I have been lately, AND setting 2 hours of phone alarms, AND setting the clock radio for the loudest possible volume it has, I woke up today 35 minutes after I was supposed to be at work? I was an hour and a half late once I finally got here. :rotfl: DH2B woke up the same time I did, which was 5 minutes later than his normal be-at-work time, but of course today he was supposed to be there an hour earlier than his normal time. I give up.:sad::sad:

When I'm on the treadmill, I actually usually listen to a parks soundtrack. Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion are just shy of a 20 minute jog! In my car, it's almost always on the country station, but I'm getting really tired of hearing the same songs 15 times a day, lol, so when I get to that point I'll plug in my phone and listen to Disney parks music on Live365 or a DisUnplugged podcast. Can you tell I'm ready for a vacation? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::faint:

I am LOVING all the activity in here this month!! I'm worried I can't keep up, haha. I'm going to try really, really hard to get in here tonight and catch up to everything - it's super easy for me to read posts on my phone and like them while I'm at work, but it's harder to find time to actually respond.. Then I end up with 4 pages of posts to go back through, like I have now! Haha.
