QOTD - September 7

Whether planned or unplanned, we all have days where we eat too much of the wrong kinds of foods (or even just too much of the right kinds of food). And then we wake up with the dreaded food hangover - puffy, sluggish, bloated, and just all around icky feeling. Whether after a holiday, vacation, day trip, or just an encounter with the chip bag, what are your strategies for getting over the food coma and back into your healthy routine?

I try to make sure that I'm selecting a good breakfast and drink lots of water. I feel if I start the day off properly then it makes the rest of the day fall in line easier.

Hi everyone - just checking in to post results / progress for week 1. We have Internet now and I was able to find my scale. I'm happy it's a loss , but not the loss I was hoping for.

Week 1: .5 pounds out of 9.
Percentage: 5%

Our crazy week from hell is over so I think I'll see the results I want next week.

I'll post in response later - we are still unpacking and it's our last day of "vacation".

Is it too late to join?
I realize we're already a full week into September but I'd love to be a part of this!
About me:
I started my weight-loss journey back in April, doing a very low-carb diet and going from 200 to 178. In the past month I've been stuck at that number, and trying to incorporate carbs and exercise back into my life!
Here is what I want to accomplish for September:
Goal: Get to 170lbs (lose 8 lbs)

Plan: Use the elliptical 3 time a week
Use MyFitnessPal every day to log food

My husband and I are going to Disney World in November (!!!) and I would love to feel healthy and energized during our visit!

Happy back to work and school Tuesday! I love 3-day weekends but they always make days like today feel like Monday times 2. So let's have a fun question today!

Oh my word. I don't even know where to begin. This is going to take some SERIOUS thought. Unlimited? For ANY expenses? Even gas or airline? Dream trip? No repercussions from excessive work days missed or anything? Wow. This might take all day.

No strings, no limits on expenses, and no repercussions. You can string together 17 Disney Adventures and a few days at Giraffe Manor (no Disney affiliation) if that is what it takes.

After a busy exercise week and my highest steps ever ( 25,000) I have NO weight loss this week!!!!
I simply cant believe it...hope I can get my head in the right place soon cause right now i have that horrible "what does it
matter "attitude!!!:sad::sad::sad: and I'm 25 days away from my goal date !!!:eeyore: ugghhhhh!!!

Try not to be too frustrated. We've all had days/weeks like that. Maybe it is time to make some other changes..... more healthy oils, less fruit, more fiber??? Something to "shake things up".

Tell me your thoughts again, please and thank you! I made this tonight. Is it obvious I was going for a flapper? In the first picture I kind of feel like I'm wearing an Indian headdress LOL. But I think pulling my hair up helped... Plus with the dress and everything. I got these gorgeous black fingerless gloves today! I'm super excited. I kind of wish we weren't being pirates for MNSSHP now! Haha.

Also please excuse the faces. I can't make a normal face in photos ever and it definitely wasn't helped by the fact that I took it at 3am LOL

With the dress I think that the headband will be totally "flapper"..... but I see what you mean about the Indian headdress comment. But it is really pretty!

I haven't posted lately as in a month, probably, because I have done nothing but gain & loss the same two pounds over and over again. So starting this month I have decided to do something new & thought I'd share it with anyone trying & not doing so well with succeeding at starting to try to lose weight. Usually, I try giving up everything, going full on with calorie counting etc, which I always end up failing at then feeling worse & comforting myself with the usual goodies. This time, I've decided to do one thing at a time. To start, last week I gave up eating chips, all chips. I am addicted to chips & sweets & would rather eat a bowl of junk than a real meal, so this was a big deal. So far I have stayed true & haven't even eaten a crumb. :) After a week or two, whenever I feel I'm not craving chips anymore, I plan on moving on the my next nemesis, sweets! I suspect this one will be harder to let go of. But I feel confident (sort of) that if I take these steps one week at a time, I'll be able to beat the cravings & habits. Lastly, once I've killed my addiction to chips & sweets, I will tackle calorie counting & eating healthier. I have also tried incorporating a salad around 2pm to kill off hunger, nothing fancy, just lettuce & vinegar. Plus, I try to walk in the afternoons when it's not too hot. I'm hoping it works. So far it is, I think because I don't feel that deprived, it's just one item. :snail:

Wowza..... that's a LOT to give up! Be sure you have some HEALTHY treats planned so that you don't get feeling deprived. Chips were something I kind of unconsciously gave up..... stopped eating them for a while and then discovered that they tasted totally greasy when I tried them again.... and I never even crave them now. I will sometimes eat ONE chip from a freshly opened bag. My DS looks for the "perfect" chip in the bag, give me that one, I eat it slowly.... and that's it. If I'm craving a crunchy/salty snack now, I usually go with a few pretzels or fat-free popcorn (make my own in the microwave in a brown paper bag). If I REALLY want something with a sandwich, I might buy some Baked Lay's. Good job with you plan to KILL all those cravings!

Water (lots of it), green tea, an extra long walk/run, a detox bath with some nice lavender epsom salts, MORE water and green tea, and maybe even a day or three of juicing. Then back to "day one" mentality...... you know, that feeling you had the FIRST day of this journey when you were GUNG-HO with determination and SO SURE that this time would be IT!! You weighed and measured every portion, ate tons of vegetables, and tracked every bite.... and felt VICTORIOUS at the end of the day!

Hey y'all! I am a 14 year old girl from Tampa. I am currently five feet tall and 200 pounds. I want to be 110 pounds in two years which is when I will be going to Disney for my sweet 16. My goal for this month is to be down five pounds.

HI!! Welcome! Share a bit about yourself. What is your PLAN to get you going on this healthy lifestyle??

QOTD - September 8

You've been given an unlimited supply of Disney gift cards. These are magic cards that are good for any expenses you might incur while traveling. Plan your dream trip!

No brainer..... an "Around the World" Disney parks/resorts trip! Starting in Florida with a 10-12 day trip (to visit all the parks, including the water parks, DTD/Disney Springs, and have time to check out all the resorts). That would be a split stay..... a few nights at each resort I've ever wanted to try.... GF, Contemporary/Bay Lake, AKL, Poly, and AoA!!

Then off to CA for a deluxe stay at Grand Californian and a few days to FULLY explore DL and DCA. Next up .........Aulani in Hawaii! Need to relax and rest up a bit before heading to..... Tokyo Disneysea.... not sure WHAT there is to see there, so definitely need to spend at least 5 days.... and then, of course, off to Disneyland Paris..... perhaps 4-5 nights would be in order there!! A quick stop perhaps in Sweden or Scotland for an "Adventures by Disney" vacation.... and then home! It goes without saying that these would be all DELUXE stays (other than AoA of course ;) ) and First Class air, all the way. That being said, I'm not much of a foodie and other than a few nice dinners at some of the more "classic" Disney restaurants, I wouldn't spend a lot on fancy meals. Not a huge fan of souvenirs either.... but perhaps I could spend some of the money on a fancy new camera to take along.... photos are the BEST souvenir!!

**********************************************
Hey all! Happy Tuesday! I had a fairly busy weekend with a last minute visit from my parents from Sunday to Monday. As such, I did get MORE housework done than planned, but less yard work. But the best news..... we got the GARAGE cleaned out Saturday!! Two trips to the dump and "take it or leave it" shed and lots of wiping and sweeping and it looks so nice! That has LITERALLY been on my "to-do" list since APRIL!

Eating was just fine other than a fall into a bag of tortilla chips last night...... but I stuck with just a few handfuls and a 90 calorie pack of guacamole, so I didn't do too much damage. In fact, the chips ended up being my dinner, as I wasn't really hungry after that.

Started today with a nice fresh fruit and spinach smoothie..... delicious.

Mom and I booked our trip to BERMUDA!! I thought we'd only go for about 4 days, but we are going for 6!! And Mom generously has offered to pay for the entire hotel bill! Airfare was more expensive than I had anticipated (Ithought it would be cheap during hurricane season!), but I've been saving a little at a time, so I will have enough.

Not working at school today, but still have to get ready for WW tonight. No yard work today, as it never cooled down last night and it is already hot, hazy, and humid out there this morning. Unusually hot for this time of year around here....but I love summer, so no complaints from me!

BBL to chat!...................P

This is a great question. Without going into too much detail, here is my plan: I'm part of a large family, many of whom have never been to Disney (including my parents and my brother.) I would plan a trip for my parents, sisters and brother (and significant others) and we would resort-hop! Stay at each of the deluxe resorts for a few nights, experience some behind-the-scenes tours, basically just go all-out. I just think it would be great to share the experience with my family and see their reactions to seeing the parks for the first time.

I'm going to do Disney World as our dream trip, as Disneyland is in our backyard!

We're flying first class from LAX to Orlando, paid in full with Premier Annual Passes. Our hotel is the Grand Floridian and we are eating at Victoria and Albert's at least twice during our stay. Definitely taking advantage of all of the fun things that we never can do because of cost, like Wishes Dessert Party, Illuminations Dessert Party, and maybe that new boat cruise for the fireworks. I'd maybe want to tack on an extra week to go on one of the Disney Cruises to Castaway Cay.

... I may need some more time with this to properly plan it out. Basically, if funds weren't an issue I'd do all of the character meals, experiences, and behind the scenes tours. I only hope that the food I eat is magical and doesn't add any inches to my waist! :)

Well this is exactly where I am today. I have a three prong approach to dealing with the dreaded post vacation/weekend food hangover. First, as others have said, I try to increase my water intake. Second, I try to make sure I get in extra cardio daily for the next week or so. Finally, I really try to be strict for the next three days about my sugar intake. Almost always when I over do it, it is sugar binges. So, to help me get back to normal, I will try to have little to no added sugar for the next three days. I do not ever use artificial sweetener, it gives me a migraine. I don't worry about naturally occurring sugars in whole foods like milk, yogurt, whole grain bread (not ones with sugar added). That really helps me stop craving the sugar and get back on track.

QOTD - September 8

You've been given an unlimited supply of Disney gift cards. These are magic cards that are good for any expenses you might incur while traveling. Plan your dream trip!

Hmm, so many options. I have had a lot of life stress lately, so I think I would make it a low stress focused trip. I would start at my home away from home, and head first to WDW. I would spend a few nights at a resort nearby each park. I'd start at GF for three nights and try their DVC Villas, haven't made it there yet. From there I would spend two full days at MK with a Disney Tour Guide, the ones that can get you to certain areas backstage and get you a fast pass to every attraction. I'd have dinners those nights at Citricos and CA Grill. On the third day I would have a full Spa Day at the GF Spa. Then I would transfer to the Yacht Club for some EPCOT time. Again, I'd use the service of the private tour service probably 9-2 each day, and spend two park days, but end each day early for extended afternoons at Stormalong Bay. I'd eat the the Yachtsmen and in EPCOT. Then I'd transfer across the lake to BoardWalk, to my favorite room a Grand Villa. I'd spend just a day at HS with a tour guide, and then a second day from there I'd do a water park. Dinners would by Flying Fish and Il Mulino at Swan. Finally I'd head to Animal Kingdom Lodge to a Savana view room and use a tour guide for a day there, and another day at Downtown Disney and using the beautiful pool at AKL. I'd have one dinner at Jiko and another at Boathouse at DTD while I was there.

When all that wrapped up I'd hop a plane to CA and spend 5 nights in a 2 Bedroom at Villas at Grand Californian, with a World of Color View. We'd come and go from the parks as we felt like it and have time to see everything. We'd then hit up the Adventure by Disney that was offered that toured Wine Country, and that region of California.

Next we'd head to Aulani for a full week of beach and pool time in paradise. I would use the spa several times, and really soak in the relaxing atmosphere.

Oh and the one part I left out, in addition to my family, I'd bring 2 of my cousins who my kids adore, so they could have some time with them and DH and I could have some quiet dinners and time here and there to explore parks alone like we used to pre children.

I'm sure I could come up with more --- but these were my first thoughts;)

I know I haven't updated my progress yet. I was away from my home scale all weekend, and forgot to do it this morning, crazy morning getting back into the school routine. I will get it done tomorrow. I actually don't expect much progress either, in my experience, when I have less to lose it takes more time to see results, and this past weekend's celebrations probably did not help either.

It's still a loss and hopefully now it won't be quite so hectic for you.

Thank you -- this really put things into perspective. After walking/running nearly 100,000 steps over 4 days, I feel like I am making great progress. Stayed within my WW points and was probably exhausted. Now I'm back on my routine and I feel so much better. Next week when I weigh in, I'll see a big drop for sure!

After the long weekend of not keeping track of anything, it's time to start new! I started back on my second round of the 21 day fix after a not so impressive (it was totally my own fault) round one and I have my goals in order
Long term goal: lose 47.2 pounds by November 2016. It's my 40th birthday and our next trip to WDW. I'm down 2 lbs so 45.2 to go.
This week: stay on food program- no exceptions or excuses
150 minutes of cardio exercise
2 strength workouts
When I have a hard time, I'm turning to this board for accountability and help, so be prepared!

Now to dream up my dream Disney vacation....

Today was horrible for food intake, not sure why but tomorrow is another day and I can't beat myself up about it.

On a positive note I have met my step goal (10,000 per day) 6 out of 7 days of my Fitbit week which is something that I was having trouble doing 3 months ago, even 2 months ago and back then the goal was lower!

Tomorrow starts my "fitty week" over and I want to have 7 days of meeting goal this time next week! Anyone that read my posts earlier in the week read about how my best friend (Vanessa, you all may as well know her name, I am tired of typing best friend) and I "pay" $5.00 per day for every day in the month that we meet our step goal and it goes in our vacation savings account..............well, its MY month to pay the bill and I think it could be a bumper crop month for us at the rate we are going, we are 10 days (between us) x $5 so far  and she hasn't reported in for tonight yet so it could be 11 days once she arrives home and her fitbit syncs - she has been at a hot air balloon festival in upstate NY for most of the day so I am sure she has walked a lot!

But now its time for this tired girl to head to the bedroom and wind down to go to sleep, I have to work tomorrow. BUT on a positive note, this is the first time in 4 nights that I have not gotten up at MN to make FP+ reservations and I got Toy Story last night so I am stoked! All my FP+ are set for my trip now:dumbo:

I end the day with 435 active minutes out of 1200 - that's a great start for me considering my physical issues, I just keep telling myself that the more I do and the more I lose weight (it will happen one day, just very slowly and i have to be patient) then the better I will feel and the better my health will be!!!!
You have a really great attitude! It is a long, sometimes arduous journey....but if you stick with a plan...in spite of some ups and downs, you (we) will all get there!

Tell me your thoughts again, please and thank you! I made this tonight. Is it obvious I was going for a flapper? In the first picture I kind of feel like I'm wearing an Indian headdress LOL. I think with your dress...it will look cool...and it will be less Indian like. Do a photo with it and the dress on.

It's never too late to join in! I use MyFitnessPal as well and I'm going to Disney in November....the week before and during Thanksgiving. It can be tough incorporating certain foods back into a daily diet. You've done really well so far. Logging your food is really critical! If you maintain those two goals you should be right on track. It's amazing how very small portions of certain things really up your calories and can throw off your chart. I do love using MFP though, it works for me and my sweetheart. I've lost 63 pounds since last November! Welcome to this very active group! We will support you all the way!
