Sebastian's STRONG and SVELTE Under the Sea September W.I.S.H. Weight Loss Challenge - All Welcome!

Question! I need opinions, if you all wouldn't mind! I've been looking for something to wear for my bachelorette dinner for a few weeks now, and I'm having the hardest time. I'm having to order costumes off Amazon and try them on - I think I've tried 6 or 7 at this point and had to return them all for various reasons. I really wanted a white or ivory or gold dress but no luck, so I'm down to one of these two, but I can't decide which. I'm not even sure if I should wear a flappery outfit. The other option would be to just find a normal white dress and wear a flapper headband with it. The intention/request was for everyone to dress like flappers, but I'm not convinced they will (my maid of honor won't... She's just going to wear black, with white Mardi Gras beads. Sigh. ) so I don't want to be the only one who does... Even though I love to! Sigh. So, of these two, which would you pick? Or would you pick neither and look for just a white dress?

The black one is a little snug in the stomach (but it's marked as a 14/16!) and has a seam on the side that needs to be fixed. The red one is looser in the stomach but big in the shoulders so the straps would have to be taken in, and the fringe is fairly sparse around the neckline so a lot of what you see is just red satin.

Help, friends! Haha thank you for humoring my ridiculousness! I just inserted the thumbnails so they wouldn't take up a ton of room in the thread (hopefully) but you should be able to click on them.

My vote is red - it looks great on you!

OMG GUYS - I'M SORE SORE SORE!

I've got movers coming tomorrow and today is the IKEA furniture delivery for the couch, dining room and barstools. I'm laughing because it's all going to be a challenge. But we will persevere and take it a step at a time with the WW app. :)

I love all of you and I'd be going insane if you weren't here with me on this crazy journey.
We are here for you! You'll get through it!

Is it the weekend :) I rarely know what day of the week it is, the only thing that I remember are the days I work and that's from looking at my date book or desk calendar many times a day - I actually put out my navy scrubs where I can see them when I work the next day to remind me! I have to laugh about reading peoples plan on eating chicken - I eat chicken at least once if not twice a day almost every day of the week, in fact I check for feathers on my skin often but when my boss kidded me about eating chicken so much I told her that I do have feathers but I dye them navy blue so that I will be in proper dress code! I thought she was going to fall into the floor laughing :) Which would not have been good since just had a total hip replacement 4 months ago!

But my weekend plans are to enjoy my day off today and tomorrow, I work Sunday though :( I have about 20 different things that need to be done around here if anyone wants to come help :) I have to do activities in short bursts of time most of the time due to my stupid back and I am nursing a biceps injury too and I won't want to make it worse by doing too much. So I ride the exercise bike for a while (I am right now, I have a "desk" on it believe it of not to hold the laptop) then I work on housework for a while, then I rest a little bit and work on computer stuff, then I do fun stuff like "play squirrel".........meaning gathering stuff for my trip so that I can pack over the upcoming 2 weeks. Then I start the list all over again, I may be slow but I eventually get things done :)

Woohoo! Happy Friday!!! I'm SO excited that it is a three day weekend that I can't contain myself!!!

QOTD - September 4

What are your plans for the weekend? Any eating challenges facing you over the next 3 days? If so, what is your plan of attack?

Also, it is ALREADY time for our first check-in and progress report. This month I'd just flying by!! Post your progress towards your September goals here or by PM to me and I'll update our results Sunday night. I suspect we are going to see some BIG week one numbers because a lot of you are rocking September!

As I mentioned this morning, since I didn't get called to work today I am considering it a 4 day weekend for me! Plans are housework and yard work..... not fun, but necessary. The only real eating challenges are just in my head. I get this "holiday" mentality very easily and start dreaming about cocktails and ice cream! But we aren't planning on going any where OR having any company, so I will be COMPLETELY in control of EVERYTHING that I consume this weekend.

That being said, the pantry, fridge, and freezer are ALL getting a bit bare. Late summer was tough on the budget so I've been trying to make it up by eating from the stockpile.... and as such, the stockpile is getting pretty sparse. But I will be heading to the market tomorrow for at least the bare necessities. I usually buy my proteins in bulk at Costco and when they are on a great sale..... but I am actually down to the last of my frozen proteins. I pulled a turkey breast from the freezer to cook over the weekend for DH and I (DS is allergic to poultry). That will probably get us a dinner and a lunch with some leftovers. The garden will provide tomatoes, maybe a yellow squash, and (if the critters stay away) a few really beautiful eggplants this weekend. Critters got the beans and cukes though....:guilty: I have pasta and rice and quinoa and lentils to round out the chicken and veggies. I also have a few frozen pizzas AND the makings for homemade pizza for DS.

For tonight I will use the last tiny bit of iceberg lettuce to make a wedge salad for DS and the last two onions, last green pepper from the garden, leftover cooked broccoli will all go into tonight's egg pie. That will leave us just the garden produce and a bag of carrots. So I MUST hit the market soon!

Off to get the onions and pepper sauteed for dinner and do my menu planning for the next 10 days so that I can make a marketing list for the morning!..............P

We have a crazy busy weekend planned, actually. It's our last "free" weekend until November, so we are using every second we can. Housework, wedding stuff, gotta find DH2B a suit, gotta look for a wedding band for me (we ordered DH2B's last week! Yay!!), finishing envelopes, and primarily trying to find stuff around the house to put in the yard sale on the 19th. It's going to be a VERY long weekend. I'm excited, though! I'd rather be not at work, doing a BILLION things, than at work, thinking about the billion things I need to do!

Busy busy weekend! I hope you get at least a little down time!

Haha, sorry for the crazy faces! I can't ever smile normally when I take pictures like that, because I feel absolutely ridiculous taking mirror pictures in the first place. So a lot of that is just me, not a reflection of the clothes, haha.

:grouphug:

I initially went to have my thyroid tested because I was having a hard time losing weight, but those tests came back fine, and he sent me to my OBGYN to be tested for PCOS. Those tests were inconclusive (they did show slightly elevated testosterone, though), but now I'm losing weight, sooo.... LOL. Maybe I'm fine? Hopefully I can lose enough weight that my system is fine on its own. I HATE taking medicines, but I especially hate taking medicines that mess with you as badly as hormones. UGH.

Bodies are so weird! You are probably just fine but if things don't even out on their own after the wedding is over and life settles down, see if you can get a referral to an endocrinologist - particularly if you think you are insulin resistant. Mine seems to be better at ordering the right tests the first time than my primary.

Here we are at the finish line. Corral C was a bit of a bottleneck, so we didn't actually start the race until 5:47am. I finished in about 48 mins... so a 15.5 minute mile! Great baseline for beginning Couch to 10K, especially since I ran this race 6 years ago and tied my time (and that was with training). Avengers in 2 months will be a great comparison as I bridge myself towards Tink's 10K in May. I may bypass the sweepers after all :D

No other pictures of the race. Hubs had my cellphone in his bag. He actually only finished about 1 minute before me. I kept catching up to him. It was really fun to run down Main Street in Disneyland. Whew. SO TIRED, but SO WORTH IT!

Woohoo! I think running down Main Street would be so much fun!

@JacknSally I like both and think both look great. But my vote would be red because you look happier in it:)

@courtneybeth Its to late to wish you luck, but I hope you had a great time at the 5k! The DL weekend races are on my someday list. I'm hoping in 2018 (crazy but true) to combine with WDW weekend for a coast to coast.

@lisah0711 Congrats on being down 2.4! Happy weigh in:).

I am leaving today for a weekend away with my extended family. The weekend will revolve around food, wine and fun. I will make sure to get one run in on Sunday and take a walk tomorrow at some point. The food will be the hardest part, but I feel like I've tapped into so new motivation here, so I'm going to really try to be mindful.

Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend if you're lucky enough to have one!

Hope you have a great weekend away! Mindfulness is an excellent goal!

Weekend Plans: Going to a Bread and Puppet play on Saturday night. For those who have never heard of it (and I'm sure almost none of you have) it's a very obscure group of folks who are anti-everything commercial. They only accept donations. They feel art should be free! They make these massive colorful puppets....beautiful work....and they have theater in an old barn on Saturday nights and on Sunday's they do a big parade with their giant puppets outside in a field. They have a museum in an old barn to display their stuff. You can look it up online. It's in Glover Vermont. It's really interesting and very different! Otherwise....staying on my plan....already made my chicken to last till Tuesday. Maybe going river tubing if the weather holds. It's been beautiful all week long! I don't weigh in till Monday....so sorry....no Friday report.

That sounds really fun! Enjoy!

OMG GUYS - I'M SORE SORE SORE!

I still can't believe you are running a race and moving in the same weekend! But the race is done and it sounds like the move is going on as smoothly as these things do. But yay to new furniture!

This is a long weekend and I have no plans. WooHoo !!! That means I can do as I want without having to struggle with food choices. Every family gathering in my family looks like a full blown buffet !! Food, food and more food. And just having a little of everything it "just fine" according to them . The problem is one bite of the wrong thing could be like an avalanche for me !!! Sugar is like an addiction for me. I have my head focused on my WDW trip September 30th and I swear the thing keeping me motivated is the fear that I will not get my thighs into the lockbar on The Mine Train ( I have heard horror stories...but that's a different thread) . So this weekend long walks planned , healthy choices and hopefully some swimming!!! Happy Labor Day to all.

princess: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Ahh... I'm jealous of your no plans weekend. I did take a few hours off this afternoon because I needed some pool time! It was fab. I hope you get in both the long walks and the swimming.

I love that you have a plan for all of your bits of produce and protein. We are the worst about that - the pantry, fridge, and freezer all seem to be full but 90% of the time I swear there is nothing to eat. And then we end up throwing things out because it has gone bad before anyone remembers it exists. It's so wasteful. Menu planning is probably the place to start but I don't even really know how you do that. Well, I know how to plan 5 different dinners for the week, I've just never figured out how you do that to make use of leftovers or in a way that uses the same ingredient in more than one dish, thus cutting down both the grocery bill and the little bits of this and that.

Well, I'm fortunate in that every weekend is at least a three day weekend and every other weekend is a four-day weekend; although working twelve hours a day to get there is pretty rough.

As for my plans, I'm finishing up my time with my parents and then heading back to Denver tomorrow. I work Sunday through Wednesday this week. I was able to get a workout in yesterday and will get another Sunday morning. While I've been visiting in family this weekend, my DW2B has been in Vegas for her bachelorette party and won't be getting back until Sunday night. The only eating challenge I foresee is making sure I don't go overboard Sunday while DW2B is still out of town.

I did perform my weigh-in this morning and I'm currently down 2.2 pounds or 22%.

We have a crazy busy weekend planned, actually. It's our last "free" weekend until November, so we are using every second we can. You definitely have my empathy at this time. Having gone through many of the same steps over the last few months I hope you don't get too stressed getting all of this accomplished.

Weird. I reuploaded the images and changed the URLs in the post. If that didn't work, here they are again.

Congratulations on completing the 5K that sounds so much fun!

After a week straight of 3:30am bedtimes, I'm so pleased to say it's only 2:04am and I'm finally DONE with all my invitations! WOOOO. Thank. Goodness. Now for a power nap before a very long day.

3...2...1... It's the weekend!!!

I'm sitting on my back deck, drinking tea, and watching the birds fight before I really get started with my day. And mulling over a good question of the weekend. My friend and soulmate above, Cookie Monster, provided the answer.

QOTW - September 5/6

Mindfulness. A lot of us talk about mindfulness as a way to deal with vacations, long weekends, parties, holidays, stress eating, and other changes to routine. Do you try to practice mindfulness? What does it mean to you? Do you use specific strategies or just try to remain aware of what you are eating? Do you find it effective?

My sweetheart and I discuss mindfulness daily. Being mindful effects everything we do. The mind is often wandering every place other than the moment and it is the ultimate trickster! Obviously we still have to plan for things...everyone does...and that is when the mind is a useful tool. But being aware that the mind is wandering is also being mindful, then you can pull it back to awareness of the moment. You can be eating a meal and not even think about what you are eating. It helps to savor your food. It helps to mindfully prepare and serve the meal, maybe on a special plate you love, or setting the table with flowers. When you practice mindfulness everything becomes richer, fuller....it's like everything is new. It's challenging to do....but if you have ways to remind yourself, or you have a partner you can discuss things with...it helps. When my sweetheart starts to talk about his work day....long after it's over....we can talk about his stress and what he is carrying with him into his evening. Then he becomes more aware that he is doing this and can make efforts to end the work day....at the end of the work day. He does meditate daily. I do not. Some people like daily affirmations or writing in a journal. I practice being mindful with every chore I have to do....the gym being the latest test of my mindfulness! I was there yesterday, and was the only one in there. It was very quiet. It is easy to be focused on working out because you have to pay attention. Doing the stationary bikes is more of a challenge. I try to pay attention to the muscles that are being used, to my breathing and my heart rate. It is more of a challenge to be in the moment on the bike but it is a way to practice. When I'm doing chores, I try to focus on the actions I'm doing...like walking to get another tool, or scraping off old caulking...and just focus on the task instead of completing the task. It's easy to get frustrated, when you have to go get something else you need, like 10 times in a row....so I notice this, I put it into perspective and just do it. I try to frame it in a positive way, like...okay extra steps for exercise, or...all part of the process of completing a task. I'm anxious to hear how others practice mindfulness. Great question by the way!

After a busy exercise week and my highest steps ever ( 25,000) I have NO weight loss this week!!!!
I simply cant believe it...hope I can get my head in the right place soon cause right now i have that horrible "what does it
matter "attitude!!!:sad::sad::sad: and I'm 25 days away from my goal date !!!:eeyore: ugghhhhh!!!

I practice mindfulness every day... It was what saved me. I have a mind that wanders constantly and it was so hard to not obsess about things I couldnt change. It was very helpful for me with my weight loss as I would concentrate on the here and now and not start thinking about all the possible failures along the way. I especially love to practice it while im walking because its like shutting off your brain for a rest,

Oh wow! SO MUCH activity in here today! I LOVE IT! Where were all of you in August???? :rotfl: I'm just kidding. :goodvibes But I definitely hope it keeps up all through September (and October!).

It's 1:38am now so I'll have to check back in later on and really read closely and reply to everyone. But I wanted to make sure I got in my answer to Wednesday's QOTD!

My WOOHOO is that I weighed in this morning at 204.4lbs! That's down 1.1lbs from Monday, and while that could be caused by anything and will probably be back up tomorrow, I have been over the moon about it all day!! It has been SO LONG since I have seen a number that low on the scale. I'm also seeing a lot of change in my shoulders, which I'm just thrilled about. I just wish the change were as obvious everywhere else!

My slightly-less-excited "woohoo" is that I'm almost done addressing wedding invitations. It's slightly-less-exciting only because I'm exhausted and don't have the energy to be properly excited about them, or even really care about them at all anymore LOL. They should've gone out 60 days before the wedding, so around August 24, but we decided at the last minute to change the color of the envelopes, because plain white envelopes are just so boring. LOL. So we had to wait for the new ones to come in. Then I, of course, decided that it would be so pretty if instead of just writing people's addresses on them, I would run them through the printer and print the addresses out in some pretty font in light grey and go over that with white ink. Easy peasy! And hey - I was right! It's really pretty. It's also REALLLLYYYYYY time consuming, because white ink is thin and needs at least two coats, and if you go too fast, the gel pens don't cooperate. I've been working on these since Friday night, from about 6pm til almost 3:30am every night (even longer on Saturday!), and out of 90 envelopes, I'm finally down to just 16 left. Not at all my wisest craft project. 51 days til no more wedding!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

View attachment 121308

It's kind of hard to see the lettering on the envelopes, but these are our invitations! All in all, I'm pleased with them. I love the colors - our wedding is themed "Autumn Elegance" so fall colors are playing a big role. I'm just so tired of doing this! Haha. And yes, I'm sending invitations to Mickey & Minnie. I've read they'll send you an autographed photo in response, so we'll see!

Bonus QOTD: I have an iPhone, but I don't use Siri (or any other "digital assistant"). Haha. She irritates me to no end. :duck: More often than not, when I try to use her, I just get frustrated because she isn't very helpful.
Sorry - i wanted to respond to this one too before I start my work day.

THIS. Seriously! I love that over the last week I managed to break nearly 100,000 steps... but the scale told me that I only lost .5 pounds and I was depressed. We all have to remember that it's a process and to keep going. Don't give into the temptation to eat a sweet treat to mask that disappointment. Lord knows I could eat an entire bag of Hershey's Nuggets if I had a bad weigh-in, but at what cost? How does that solve the problem?

@DisPup75 This is my current LoseIt! graph! I tried MFP and don't remember why I didn't like it, but I didn't, because I ended up going with LoseIt! instead, lol. It's only showing 5lbs lost because I changed my plan on August 30 when I started the HIIT program because my food intake was supposed to change so drastically, but the graph shows my progress for the entire year (you can view it in various increments), which is noticeably more than 5lbs. Unfortunately it also shows the period from February - June where I stopped using the app entirely LOL.

I think your progress graph looks great. You might have treaded water for a bit but you never went back to where you started, which a lot of folks do! :thumbsup2

QOTD - September 4

What are your plans for the weekend? Any eating challenges facing you over the next 3 days? If so, what is your plan of attack?

We don't have any exciting plans for the week-end. We are finishing up a deck project that has taken all summer. But it is rainy now so that may have to wait a day or two. I'm actually happy to see the rain to help our fires and air quality. I'm looking forward to starting the week-end with a 6 mile run with my running group. :goodvibes

Don't worry a bit about fitting into the Mine Train cars. I worried about it, too, before our trip last November but all those scary threads were much ado about nothing. :rotfl:If you can ride Everest or Space Mountain you will be fine. :goodvibes

Oh mindfulness is so hard for me to do. My brain just wants to ruminate and try to change the past and worry about the future it hardly has time to think about the now. :sad2: I'll be interested in hearing ideas on how to improve in this area! ::yes::

After a busy exercise week and my highest steps ever ( 25,000) I have NO weight loss this week!!!!
I simply cant believe it...hope I can get my head in the right place soon cause right now i have that horrible "what does it
matter "attitude!!!:sad::sad::sad: and I'm 25 days away from my goal date !!!:eeyore: ugghhhhh!!!

I'm sorry that the scale is not reflecting all your efforts yet but it will. :goodvibes When I get frustrated with the scale I try to remind myself giving up never did a thing for me. Hang in there!
