I assume its closed to start remodeling for the new Shamu show that is set to Open sometime this Spring. I saw a sign indicating it will reopen Spring 2011. However, it doesn't give the exact date.

Even with that closed, you can still view the dolphins, sharks, peguins, rays and puffins underwater at several locations throughout the park.

So will the Underwater Viewing area be closed this weekend?? (sunday 23rd)

Yes. But the whales are usually out swimming for everyone in the main show pool before each show. So if you get there early, you can go to the bottom level near the viewing glass and watch them play around with each other. Sometimes, they like to squirt water at the Seaworld employees selling towels or food. Its funny to watch.

Also, the main reason for the underwater viewing being closed is the reopening of Dine With Shamu in the spring. They are remodeling the pool and restaurant. Dine With Shamu and the Underwater viewing area is set to re open in the Spring. No exact date has been given.
