Seattle Hotel Recommendations

I need to find a hotel in Seattle. I'm thinking downtown near Pike's, the Space Needle and the Children's Museum.

It will just be DS (2 at the time of travel) and me. We will stay one day/night in Seattle. Then, we will take the train to Vancouver. So, having the hotel close to the Seattle train station would be a convenience.

Has anyone stayed at the Pan Pacific in Seattle? Any reviews? They offer free shuttle service in a town car within a 2 mile radius. However, the train station is showing 3 miles from the Pan Pacific. Boo :(

We stayed at The Pan Pacific in Seattle in May 2013. It was a nice hotel. However, it did not come close to The Pan Pacific in Vancouver IMO.
The Vancouver room was in close to perfect condition, the Seattle one needed some help in the bathroom with mildew in the shower.

We are staying at The Inn at the Market in Sept. after returning from our Hawaii cruise, its about a block or two away from Pike's.
After our Alaska cruise in Sept. 2013, we stayed at The Four Season's Seattle, that was a beautiful hotel, 5 star service all the way. It really spoiled me.

Thank you for responding. I read a couple online reviews mentioning it wasn't up to standards with the Vancouver and Singapore Pan Pacific.

I checked out the Four Seasons. I would love to stay there. However, $500/night is a little steep for me. We're also staying 2 nights in Vancouver. So, I have to consider what we'll be spending total on hotels. Perhaps one day though. :)

I will check out The Inn. Thank you once again for responding.

We stayed at the Warwick. It is basically between Pike Place Market and the Space Needle and a reasonable walk to both. I would guess 15 minutes. The rooms were large because it's an older hotel. The restaurant in the lobby was really good and they offered a special price for hotel guests. It is pretty close to the pier so our cab ride was pretty inexpensive too.

Most of the hotels downtown will work. It's easy to get to Seattle Center (and the Space Needle) by taking the monorail from Westlake center. It goes directly to Seattle Center. I'd suggest the Grand Hyatt. It's about 7 blocks from the market and 5 or so from Westlake. The Sheraton and Hyatt: Olive 8 are also nice as is the Paramount. All those hotels are in the same area.

Thank you for the recommendations and the additional info. I will check them out. :)

We stayed at the Holiday Inn. Wasn't bad, your typical tourist class hotel. It was jut a few minutes walk to the Space Needle and walkable to Pike's Place as well. We took the bus to the Museum of Flight as well. And a car (which we had the hotel arrange) to the train station was $10 with tip.

We did the same thing you are doing. You will love the Amtrak Cascades up to Vancouver. That was one of the highlights of our trip.

We stayed at the Hilton Airport the first night after a late arrival which you can walk to from the terminal. The next morning we took the light rail downtown to the downtown Hilton and were very pleased. In Vancouver, we stayed at the Hampton Inn right across from BC Place, which was great as they have a free shuttle to the port...

We did a VRBO at the Harbor Steps Apartments for two nights...not sure if one night would work. It was the perfect location!! We then took a shuttle to the Amtrak station. In Vancouver we stayed three nights at the Pinnacle Harbourside Hotel, also a perfect location and at $136 a night it was nice on the budget.

Closest to the train station is the Silver Cloud in the stadium area. Prices are higher on game days (Sounders, Mariners, and Seahawks are the relevant teams).

If it's just you and your son, please consider bringing proof that you have permission/legal ability to take him into Canada. Whether that's a notarized note from his other parent, proof that you have sole legal custody, or some other certified paper if you are the only living parent...Canada can be a stickler for it. Better to have it and not need it rather than need it and NOT have it.

Ahh, that's great! I took Amtrak from LA to San Diego and loved it. So, I figured I would enjoy the train ride to Vancouver. It's nice to hear that you enjoyed it. :)

Thank you for the hotel recommendations. :)

Hyatt house and Hyatt place are both downtown near the space needle. They are nice properties that also include breakfast. I think they are both pretty newly built too.

We stayed at the Marriott a few weeks ago before our Alaska cruise. Nice hotel, but probably not what you are looking for in terms of proximity to the other things in Seattle. We had some friends staying at the Inn at the Market and we visited them a couple of times. That hotel is really nice. Good location for all the things you are interested in except the space needle/children's museum. For that you can walk a couple of blocks to the monorail station and ride that. I'd suggest you add Chuily Glass Museum to your list of things to do in Seattle.

I was going to suggest the Silvercloud too as it's near the station. We love this hotel and stay a fair bit when going down for games ((I love putting on my jersey and just crossing the street to see the M's)). they offer free shuttles to downtown pickup and drop off so while not exactly right at the market it's nearby. We often take the shuttle to whatever downtown destination we choose then meander our way back by foot.
