It looks like they are close from the map, but I didn't know if you can do it or not.

And how about my itinerary:

Friday, June 22 - arrive Seattle at 6 pm.
Check into the Warwick Hotel:http://www.warwickwa.com/
Dinner at the hotel.

Saturday, June 23 - Pike Place Market and Seattle Aquarium
Walk over to Pike Place Market. Coffee at Starbucks, breakfast at Le Panier (both at North End)
Go to Pike Place Fish at Main Arcade, watch them throw fish.
Wander around until lunch at Pike Place Chowdar, at Triangle Building and Post Alley Market.

Go to Seattle Aquarium. Stay until dinner.

Go back to Pike Place for dinner at Etta's.

Sunday, June 24 - Seattle Center
Take monorail to Seattle Center.
Go up Space Needle.
Go to EMP/Science Fiction museum
Go to Pacific Science Center.
Need a suggestion for lunch?

Then dinner at Dahlia Lounge.

Monday, June 25 - head to cruise.

There are stairs that sort of connect them and it's about a block between the aquarium and the Market.

this sounds wonderful no pund inteated. yes you can walk from the market to the aquarium. it's a bit of a hike. Warning it's not cheap to go up in the neddle it's about $10.00 not kidding. Did you know that king tut will be there . not sure where he will be. There are many good places to eat . inside the center is a nice pizza place. also i would doubble check at you hotel about the monorail it has been runing all that well lately it isn't like mickey's. have a great cruise. also bring some rain grear. Summer here in seattle dosn't really start until after july 4 Haha:cool1:

Thanks!!!

Yes, I know it is pricey to go up the Space Needle, but I figure you GOTTA do it, if you are in Seattle, right?

Like going to St. Louis and not going up the Arch. ;)

And thanks for the tip about King Tut! I know the kids will love that!

I picked the EMP because I heard there was a lot of Jimi Hendrix stuff. In fact, I think it started as a Hendrix memorial of sorts. DH is into rock 'n' roll stuff, and he is a big Hendrix fan, so I know he will like that.

On Sunday, you could do Brunch at the Space Needle. The trip up & entrance to the Observation Deck is included if you eat up there. It's really a nice experience dining up there!

Sayhello

Yes, we walk it with our children--it is an easy walk. Now the walk back from the Aquarium to the Market is less fun as it is an uphill climb. LOL! Still very doable and my children have been doing it for years.

You'll want to exit out the back of the Market and go for the stairs. Ask someone at the Market for directions.

As others have said, its connected by a staircase behind the market. It's confusing so ask a vendor if you get lost:)

The aquarium is tiny so it won't take up that much time. The ye olde curiosity shop is next store to that is fun to look through.

I would get an entertainment book (or 2 depending on how many in your group). There are buy one get one free admissions to many Seattle tourist attractions this year like: empt, aquarium, science center, museum of flight, the children's museum (great for kids, at the Seattle center by the science center), the zoo, etc. All of these things are really expensive and online you can get an entertainment book for $20, which is the cost of entrance for 1 to the emp.

Happy planning!

While at Pike Place Market, take a minute and take the kids to the "Gum Wall". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gum_Wall It brings new meaning to the phrase, "just look, don't touch"! :crazy2: It's near the Flying Fish, so just ask and they will be able to give you directions. Our DS9 has never really enjoyed taking in the market, but he still talks about the Gum Wall. Bring some bubble gum!!!

Good plan, Deb! You're getting me motivated!

Thanks for the tip on the "Gum Wall!" Sounds gross - just what a kid would want to see.

I like your itinerary. Heads up there is a way to take the elevator to get back up to Pike Place Market. DH has walked both ways, but prefers to take the stairs down and elevator back as the stairs are steep. (DH can walk but has a hard time with long distances/HA)

You might not be allowing enough time for some things. Just plan to be flexible and adapt as needed.

Seattle Aquarium- we can spend the whole day there with my kids. Plenty of hands on exhibits, a touch tank, marine animals I have not seen in other parts of the country/zoos. (We go to zoos and aquariums on vacations across the country so you may need less time)
Don't worry about being bored, there is an indoor section and an outdoor section. Once the kids saw the flying fish, mine were bored at Pike Place as it is mostly shops.

EMP- including the Science Fiction Museum(my favorite part and I am not into Sci fi) only took us 2 hours to go through thoroughly and that included time in the area the kids play music.
More geared for adults than kids. I say that with a child that plays four instruments, although she did like the 70's Supremes costumes, she was not thrilled. It more museum-esque. I was thinking it was more hands on then it was.

Pacific Science Center- again we can go from open to close here.
Butterfly House, hands on exhibits, Imax movies,
Plus the King Tut exhibit will be in town- if you want to go I recommend you buy your exhibit passes well in advance (these are in addition to entrance fee). If they run it like the did the Dead Sea Scrolls you will need to book a specific time.

EMP and Pacific Science Center are close enough together that if the kids and you do not particularly want to do EMP, you could save the admittance fee and have your husband join you at the Pacific Science Center when he is done.

If you are doing a City pass, then go see it just be ready to let Dad spend more time here. There is grass outside where the kids can get in some movement should the kids not be into it.

Sounds like fun, you might want to check out the Seattle City Pass, I am not yet allowed to post a link but just google it. Well worth purchasing.

We have a similar itinerary but we are noising each other by two weeks lol! Looks good to me from all the books I have been reading, but I have never actually been there:rotfl::surfweb:

Sounds like a fun few days!! I agree with all of the above! Also, if you are wanting a fun tour, there is a Duck Tour that leaves from right by the Space Needle. It takes you around Seattle, and into the sound. Our guide pointed out the house used in Sleepless in Seattle....which the kids will LOVE, I'm sure. ;) But the truck/boat is pretty cool! Plus you get duck whistles!

I would skip EMP and do the duck tour with the kids while Dad does EMP.

June 24 is Seattle PrideFest at Seattle Center. It literally attracts like 100,000 people to the festival throughout the whole Seattle Center grounds which goes until the evening. Another 250,000 or so watch the Pride Parade on 4th Avenue which begins about 11am. Doing Seattle Center on Saturday would avoid all of the crowds.

Oh, THANKS for the heads up!!!

Then we will definitely flip our itinerary:

Seattle Center on Saturday, June 23

Pike Place and Aquarium/Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe on Sunday, June 24

Thanks! I will definitely check out an Entertainment Book! I used to get them for Orlando, but didn't think about getting it for Seattle!

I read about the gum wall in Frommer's!
DS and DH are not big shoppers, so this is just weird enough that I think they will get a kick out of it!

We stayed at the Warwick on our honeymoon. Nice hotel, and within walking distance to a lot of attractions!

Great to hear that! I couldn't find anything on this hotel, but it was the only one in the area we wanted that was reasonable for our family of 4!!
