Where is the best place to sit to see Fantasmic that is still a good view but is easy to exit when the show is over?

I saw the show a few weeks ago, my DH detests large crowds, so we sat near the back in the middle row, we got out relatively easily.

That's what I figured. That's where I sat last time. It started pouring rain in the middle of the show so they had to stop the show and everyone had to exit. It seemed to take forever to get out, but that's probably because it was raining miserably! I just wondered if it was better to sit to the side where they have that alternative exit. You know, the one where they bring Fantasmic Dinner Package people in. Don't they open that one after the show? If so, I was just thinking that exit might be faster???

Here is my exit strategy at any stadium: sit and wait until the masses have exited. I do not like to jump and leave and get stuck in the crowds. I would rather wait for it to thin a little then go...

This strategy worked well for us. We were over near the Hades section in Aug. We waited about 10 minutes then headed out and right to the buses. We caught the 2nd bus and were back to CR in no time:)

We didn't get to choose where we sat this past week - the CMs had us filing down certain sections, telling us to go all the way down the row, etc.

The alternative exit was also not open.

1- They really have little in the way of "control" as to where you sit.

They usually DO "suggest" where you go, but once you are in the seating area,
you can walk over to any available seat and sit down.

This is especially true if you get into the theater before the "masses" arrive.

2- That would be very, very rare.
Are you sure?
What time did you check?
Was there an unusually small crowd?

It's possible that the route was being used for some "backstage work" at that time,
but they virtually always use that secondary exit, as it allows the crowds to exit the seating area
in about half the time as using only the main route.
The CM's that clean the seating can get the job done much earlier if
they operate the secondary exit.

Thanks Robo!! Always love your diagrams!! Makes things so much easier for those of us who are visual learners!! :thumbsup2

1 - I was surprised by the number of CMs and the blocking of areas to enter, so yes, you had to go where they directed you. They made us move down the rows too. The stadium was filled over on one side and down the center when we arrived - packed solid, and the far side was where we were sent, where the seats were all empty. So no, we were not allowed to walk to just any area to sit.

2 - Watched the crowd all funnel to the main exit - was expecting the corner area to take the alternative way out, but no one went that way. I had a great view, being stuck in the crowd way over in Hades. Then, with the 10 PM show lined up all the way down the street, we all had to squeeze out past ToT, through that narrow channel on the right.

You're missing my point.

Once you are in the stadium seating area (after the CM's have shown you which aisle that they want you to enter,) the CM's THEN have no way to know WHERE you finally sit (or move to.)

There are hundreds of guests leaving their seats to go to the restroom and/or the concession stand. The CM's have no way of knowing who you are, when you arrived or where you were first sent to be seated.

I'm saying that if you SEE an available seat somewhere else in the stadium, you can simply walk over to it and sit down.

Not trying to argue, just pointing out the "ropes" for those who don't know the routine.

Can you exi from the 'Alternate Path' (orange/11 on robo's map) at the boat dock or do you have to go all the way to sunset blvd? Thx. :thumbsup2

There is only one way guests are allowed to exit from that path.
It's inside the park and near the Beauty and the Beast theater.

(The boat dock is outside the park and on a completely different level (about 20 feet lower) than where the pathway "appears" to go near it in the overhead image.)

There were no spots left open - the CMs had us moving all the way down the rows, so even if you got up to get a drink, that would be one little space in a packed stadium. If more people got up, then they would have lost their seats in the scenario you described. I'm not thinking you're recommending that to people? To take seats away from people already seated, but up at the concession stand? Hopefully they would have at least one person left behind to maintain the seating arrangement.

I had never seen Fantasmic seating done this way before - but it was the only night the show was being done during our week long stay, and the place was packed. I think Disney anticipated the crowds, scheduled a ton of CMs to work there that night, and did an excellent job of getting everyone in and seated. It was definitely not a free-for-all, as it has been in the past. The CMs were not only at the top of the concourse, but down in the aisles, directing people into rows.
