We will be a party of 8, 3 kids & 5 adults. If I remember correctly, the cars seat 6? Should I book 2 ressies of 4 and ask to be seated near each other?
There will be three of us. 2 adults and a 5 year old. How will they seat us?
I've seen them set a child in the front with parents behind. Or sometimes dad will sit by himself. I think the kids enjoy being "the driver" by themselves & occasionally a server will give them a paper drivers license. It is close enough for parents to whisper in their ear or give assistance if the need arises. There will be three of us. 2 adults and a 5 year old. How will they seat us?
Thanks. He is tall but skinny.Depends on size and how comfortable you are with the seating. With my niece at that age, we did all together (she was a premie and itty bittie so we all fit), with my nephew (higher percentile) we did two in one row and one in another.

If it were me, I wouldn't, I'd take the picnic tables. First, there's no guarantee that there are going to be two cars with 4 spaces anywhere near each other. Second, with your party description, how would you split it? Does one person get all the kids? Two kids in one, one in another? The point is to experience it together- so have fun at the tables in the back. You're not swished, you're not w some random people in front or back of you, and you can see everything.
Either configuration would work; you can decide once you get to the cars. I would make one reservation for your whole group so the castmembers at the check in desk will know the size of your group. If you make two separate reservations the host/hostess won't know you're together and you might end up sitting in different sections of the room. But it's the cars that make it special. The youngest child is pretty small so all 3 kids could conceivably sit in the front with 2 adults behind and the other 3 adults in a separate car. Or 1 child could sit with the 3 adults, wouldn't be a problem.

We just ate there last week and there were about 3 cars that were the car front and back but a table with 4 chairs on each side in the middle. Those would allow you all to sit together.
The picnic tables are smaller round tables for four in the back where walk ups are seated while those with reservations are usually seated in cars. With a reservation for a group of 8 you are usually seated in the first two rows of adjacent cars. But will they just put us at a picnic table then?
The seating where there is a car front and back with a table and chairs in between is visible in the lower left edge of the photo on the Sci Fi Dining Reservation page and also in the next to last photo in the gallery of pictures. You will be sitting facing each other, but sideways to the screen. Most parties prefer the cars that face the screen, even though you are seated in rows, but because of the sound from the movie clips it really isn't easy to have a conversation in the restaurant. We just ate there last week and there were about 3 cars that were the car front and back but a table with 4 chairs on each side in the middle.
