Seasons of the Force - Nov 16 plus closings starting January 10

Well Gator....could be a blessing in disguise........

Space Mt being down for my entire trip will never be a blessing. I got to vist DL this summer twice. I think I got the crowded days down. But not much I can do about it...except complain about it. And even I'm getting sick of my own complaints.

Any news (or speculation) if Jedi Training Academy will go down before December? We will be there November 11-14, and DS would love to do it again with new or old characters.

On the other hand, I don't need to choose between Fantasmic and the fireworks since I only have one night.... it will probably be windy.... sigh

I do feel for the people waiting to see the nighttime parades and fireworks though. Fantasmic used to draw some of the crowds away from that area on the busy weekends (they would just stay near RoA for the fireworks). Now you will have even more people trying to see the PTN parade and fireworks.

That would be so much fun - imagine trick or treating through Cars Land and near Soarin' -- no complaints if that happens.

Back when the party was held in DCA -- before Halloween Screams and all of that -- it was fun! There wasn't one main Halloween "show" like fireworks or anything (it was before World of Color too), but the treat trails were fine, and there were characters and actual Halloween décor in DCA. Now, with Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, they could get very creative with Halloween décor if they would just go ahead and do it! They could pump in some fog to the Grizzly Peak area and around the Pier. They could work the monster movie theme in Hollywood Land (maybe put up some vintage posters). Needless to say, they could do a Halloween World of Color. And, supposedly, Mr. Potato Head already recorded some Halloween and holiday season dialogue back when TSMM was built, just waiting for an eventual seasonal overlay. With Toy Story 4 coming out in 2017, next year or 2017 might be a good time to unleash the Halloween version of TSMM!

When we were talking to the server at BTRBBQ 2 weeks ago, he had mentioned that they had already broke ground and were demoing the employee parking and other areas behind the scenes. I honestly thought he was just saying that but now it sounds possible.

Yep, that is definitely going to create an even bigger crowd management problem!

I recently did some Blue-Sky thinking on Twitter with some other Disney-philes. We thought it would be awesome if Disney did a family-friendly scare maze in DCA. You have Stage 17/Hollywood and Dine buildings that could easily be converted, and if the Halloween Party were to move back to DCA, that at least opens up the possibility for this dream to come true. Come on Disney!

I have a H&V Fantasmic dinner package reservation for 1/10. I'm guessing that 1/10 is the first day that Fantasmic won't be shown (not the last day it'll be shown). Anyone know what will happen to my reservation? Will it become just a regular H&V reservation or will Disney cancel it entirely?

My understanding was that January 10th will be the last day for everything on the Rivers of America, so your reservation should still be good. It's a Sunday, so I expect F! to be presented that night.

Fantasmic should show on January 10.

From the Disney Parks blog:

The following will suspend operations at the end of the operating day on January 10:

  • The Disneyland Railroad, including all stations

  • Attractions along the Rivers of America, including:
    • “Fantasmic!”
    • Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia
    • Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
    • Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes

Hollywood and Vine is at WALT DISNEY WORLD , do you have the right board ?
This is Disneyland :)

I just realized that Season of the Force will be opening 2 days before we get there in November. I have not kept up on recent Star Wars movies so I have no idea what the title means. Is this a specific event, or just the label for general Star Wars enhancements? I read about changes to star tours, jedi training, and space mountain, as well as Star Wars launch bay. Is that it or is there more to it? Where is the launch bay?

Second question: is this expected to have a major impact on crowds?

Thanks!

It is just the name of the enhancements that you already read about. The Launch Bay will be inside Innoventions. I'm sure the initial opening of the offerings will see crowds, especially crowds of locals who want to see what's new.

There it is. Worst case scenario. Space Mt will be down for our entire trip, no doubt. And will Star Tours also be down the week before to add the new scene? All of this will literally open the day after we leave. Totally sucks. You hear me Disney? Sucks!

I'm starting to suspect this will be the case for us too :( We are there from Nov 8 to 15 and it would be sad if a bunch of stuff was down.

Is there any page that states clearly exactly what and won't be open in that week leading up to the 16th?

It sounds like you're seeing Fantasmic at DHS in Florida, not DLR in California. Hollywood & Vine (Plus the ability to make those reservations so far in advance) is at WDW. This is regarding Fantasmic in Disneyland :)

As if the crowds have not already been substantial enough (wasn't it last week when Disneyland reached capacity on one day for a short while?) due to Halloween Time and the Diamond Celebration (as well as any other events or gatherings taking place at DLR), the already mega-popular Holiday season is going to be fun as well -- Season of the Force, Diamond Celebration AND Holiday season events all rolled into one, as well as the usual things that bring crowds like school breaks, Candlelight weekend, the week between Christmas and New Year's, etc. I almost want to say... YIKES! But I am going to think positively and hope that all of the people will be concentrated in Tomorrowland while I am trying to ride It's a Small World Holiday and Jingle Cruise! ;) ;) :lmao: (Not a chance, right? )

I wonder too. When the original plan was to start SOTF in early 2016, it made sense to me because it seemed like it was being lined up to do what Frozen Fun did this past January -- which was to bring in people right after the holiday season ended and fill the off season until spring break and the summer season started. But now that SOTF is starting earlier than planned or expected, I wonder if it will still continue through the down time after the holidays and then end before Memorial Day weekend, or if it will end before spring break.
I wasn't exactly thrilled when I read that it opened right at the start of our trip, when it was supposed to be a reasonably "calm" week to go. But . . . crowds or no crowds (ha ha--Disneyland no crowds?!), we are going to Disney and we are going to have a ball! On the other side of the park maybe, but we'll have a ball! ;) Our 21-year old son may have some opposing thoughts and want to venture into the force . . .

While I am excited, I think it's going to crazy busy and I'm not looking forward to that. We were thinking we'd have. Busy weekend Nov 14 and 15, but be pretty empty the 16th and 17th. I guess that won't be happening :( bleh oh well...this will def be our last trip to DLR
