Seasons of the Force - Nov 16 plus closings starting January 10

Glad our passes don't expire until February so we can see the new stuff and even happier we decided not to renew since so much will be closed. Hopefully this still give me a chance to save up for passes again once SWL opens in a couple of years.

How long will Season of the Force last I wonder? I would love to catch Hyper Space Moutain in April if possible.

So glad I planned for this year - I can't imagine arriving at DL and not seeing the trains go past the main entry. It is my first and fondest memory of DL.

I'm so bummed that we'll miss F! on our trip in March. Is it likely that they will entirely drain ROA?

We will be there 11/22. While I'm glad we have the chance to see the new offerings, the crowds are going to be crazy! I already figured Thanksgiving week would be crowded, but this will likely take the crowd levels up several notches.

I am beyond thrilled. We had booked an early December trip months ago as our "final farewell" to being AP holders for the next year or two while we buy a house. I am pretty darn excited that we will get to experience these things during our trip and since we are staying on site will definitely be making use of the EMH to get ready for the attractions. CANNOT WAIT.

As if the crowds have not already been substantial enough (wasn't it last week when Disneyland reached capacity on one day for a short while?) due to Halloween Time and the Diamond Celebration (as well as any other events or gatherings taking place at DLR), the already mega-popular Holiday season is going to be fun as well -- Season of the Force, Diamond Celebration AND Holiday season events all rolled into one, as well as the usual things that bring crowds like school breaks, Candlelight weekend, the week between Christmas and New Year's, etc. I almost want to say... YIKES! But I am going to think positively and hope that all of the people will be concentrated in Tomorrowland while I am trying to ride It's a Small World Holiday and Jingle Cruise! ;) ;) :lmao: (Not a chance, right? )

I wonder too. When the original plan was to start SOTF in early 2016, it made sense to me because it seemed like it was being lined up to do what Frozen Fun did this past January -- which was to bring in people right after the holiday season ended and fill the off season until spring break and the summer season started. But now that SOTF is starting earlier than planned or expected, I wonder if it will still continue through the down time after the holidays and then end before Memorial Day weekend, or if it will end before spring break.

It's like you read my mind!!!!! :faint:

I was thinking the EXACT same things as I read through the thread and then saw your post!! :thumbsup2

Well, GOSH DANG IT! No railroad for a whole year? No Rivers of America. No Tom Sawyer's Island. No Mark Twain riverboat or Sailing Ship Columbia. And no Fantasmic either for a whole year. I'm glad we're going in a little over a week. However, this will now mean that between now and January, all of those attractions are going to be MOBBED with everybody getting in one last ride before they shut down for the Star Wars Land construction.

I was just saying a similar thing in another thread. There are so many things that are closing at DLR at the same time -- either permanently (Aladdin, Big Thunder Ranch and BBQ) or for an unspecified period of time (like Fantasmic, Rivers of America and the railroad). It will surely mean that lots of people will be heading to DLR to get in one last ride, one last show, one last meal, etc., before January 10th.

I am really looking forward to all the new Star Wars things but I am so sad about the RR! One of the last things on my Disneyland bucket list (other than C33 of course!) is to ride the LilyBelle. Sadly, it was too hot when we were there in August and with the year long railroad closure starting in January, it looks like it will be a while before I can cross it off my list!

This is going to make it harder for me to talk DH into a birthday trip in March...although, if Hyperspace Mountain is still around it would definitely help my case!

For some reason, I always thought all of Star Wars Season of the Force was starting before Christmas at Disneyland. I was surprised to read from others last week that it wasn't starting until January. It makes sense for them to push this just before the movie comes out. Big marketing and tons of money to be made in merchandise.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the Rivers of America and the Railroad as they design Star Wars land. Hopefully they'll prioritize and get these projects done an over with within a year or so, so they're not down the entire 3+ years they're building Star Wars land. Rumors I read are some kind of connecting between Critter Country and Star Wars land as a reason for the River closing, and the Railroad has to close to either be put in a tunnel or rerouted so as not to interfere with the realism of the Star Wars theme. We'll see what actually happens.

Wow. That's so disappointing.

We're going in May 2016 and I was already disheartened that we're going to miss Aladdin, but it's particularly unfortunate that we'll also miss the railroad and riverboat. I'd been hoping to ride in Lily Belle or the tender seat. And I was going to ask to captain the riverboat. Missing Fantasmic is also disappointing.

Oh well. I guess on the positive side, it means that there is more time for all of the other attractions and entertainment.

There's a rumor going around that the ROA will be shortened and the DLRR tracks will be significantly rerouted. I seriously doubt this is going to happen. It would really expensive and a logistical nightmare. I'm guessing a new tunnel might be added along the tracks.

Oh, I am so sad! I was hoping to take my kids in February, and number 1 on our list was Fantasmic! And I can't imagine Disneyland without the railroad. Now I don't know what to do.

Oh no! no railroad! I wanted to take DS on it :(

I know BT ranch and BBQ will be closed, but will BTMRR remain open? It was being renovated on our last trip

Ugh, I am so bummed about the DLRR, Fantasmic, and Island closures! My 4 year old was looking forward to all three! He loves dinosaurs, trains, dragons, and exploring... Plus we always end our vacation with a DLRR ride. Iʻm so sad!

Someone on MIcechat said in a thread that Fantasmic, at least -- if not the other attractions on the Rivers of America as well -- will supposedly be dark until Summer of 2017. We have no idea if that is true, nor do we know if everything on ROA will be down for 1-1/2 years, but I would certainly hope that the DLRR could open before 1-1/2 years' time... couldn't it?

I've read the same thing about closure times. 12-18 months. Wow!
