Olaf's right, if a person/group is determined enough, there will always be a way found with which to evade security, no matter how tight.
All we can hope is that the powers that be, airlines, airport authorities and, just as importantly, we passengers, make it as difficult as possible, for those who may wish to attempt such a thing, to carry out an attack. To the extent that the likelihood of such incidents is reduced as much as is possible, but without air travel becoming such a trial that the kind of people who would do these things, win by discouraging/preventing people's right to travel without fear.
I look at it like this - the chances of myself or my loved ones being on a plane that coud be affected by something like a hijack is so small it really doesnt warrant a lot of thought. 'They' win if people start to worry about it every time they fly.
More planes are lost thru pilot error, mechanical failure or other reason, than have ever been lost thru hijackor terrorist action. I wouldn't stop flying because of any of those reasons, why stop for this ?
I really don't wan't to sound overly dramatic here, but thats just how I see it - life goes on, we just have to do all we reasonably can to make it go on as safely as possible.
