Sea World, too?

Has anyone ever done a day at Sea World before/after a trip to Disney while in the area? We are thinking of adding a day at Sea World either before or after our Disney trip (we'll get in free with a military deal).

I feel like if we do it after, it won't be as 'fun' because we just left DISNEY..

So I was thinking that we could tell our four year old that we're going to see DOLPHINS (etc.) and then after the day is over, tell her that we're going home... and then show up at DISNEY WORLD (where she will proceed to literally have a COW!).

Do you think it's too much? Or is one day 'just enough' to enjoy it?

I really like Sea World and it is a pretty relaxed park with great service. I think you would be ok.

DW and I haven't been to Sea World since 97, so it has changed a lot since then.

We're going back this April with the kids, but we are doing it mid-stay as a sort of day off instead of before/after.

how much time do u have? if you can go and not rush your trip I'd say yes. If you only have like 4 or 5 days no way...

We spent a day at Sea World in the middle of our last trip; we didn't have park tickets for all the days, so we didn't feel like we were missing out on Disney. One day was enough to see all the shows and animal exhibits; my young adults doesn't do thrill rides, so we skipped the rides. I did enjoy the Shamu show a great deal, but really, we went because she is such an animal lover. We had spent a day at Discovery Cove and got the Sea World time with that.

I always make a point of dedicating one or two days to SW each trip we make to Florida. Although (IMHO) the service is not up to the same standards of Disney, it is enough of a different experience to be a very good option on his own.

For us, it does not matter if our SW visit is done before, after or in the middle of our Disney Vacation. We really like it, specially our 6 years old DD.

Yes if you have the time ,a good deal and before Disney ; we go to SW , US , IOA and BG almost every year before going Disney,some years we had stayed off-site and mix those park with Disney ones just making sure to visit Disney the first and last to keep the magic
We like SW very much ! and this year they are openning Manta the new rollercoaster!
This year we are planning on visiting those before a week at Disney!

Glad you did it. It just depends on a person if they liked it. Same here, we loved it and wants to go back again this year.

Anything that causes a four year old to literally give birth to a cow is too much, yeah.

Figurative cow-having, though, not too much.

Sea World is wonderful. You should go.

We did 1 day at SW in the middle of our trip -- ran out of time to go back for the free 2nd day. My DD loves dolphins, so I think the dolphin spotlight tour was one of the highlights of her trip. We plan to do at least 2 days next year.

As PPs have said, it is more relaxed at SW -- great for a day off from the parks. But this was our 2nd WDW trip.

Oh yes. We do it everytime we go. I love Sea World. It's definitely worth the time and effort it takes to schedule a day there! If your DD loves dolphins, I suggest you start with the dolphin feeding. We always end up there too late and miss the last feeding. Aw, and the dolphin nursery is amazing too. This past November we went with my nephew who is almost four. He loved feeding the sharks and seeing Shamu. They also have the best animal show there. Have fun.

We always see SW prior to our Disney vacation. SW is a lot of shows so it is important to identify the show you want to see and understand you need to get to the show 20-30 minutes in advance of the start time to get to select where you will sit. Also the show matrix is composed of overlapping times and some shows have limited showings so it is critical to plan accordingly. While you can see most of SW in one day a second day ensures you can easily see everything and also see your favorites again. SW normally provides the second day free too. Overall, our little girls have always loved SW, but I am not sure you really need to manipulate your childs emotions...you might consider a different approach...about going to Disney World.

I am so sorry we took a day and went to Sea World! I went to Sea World San Diego when my DH and I were dating and loved it so last May we decided to take our kids there. The park tickets were almost as costly as Disney, there was a lot of walking to get from show to show, the kids weren't all that interested in the shows, the Shamu show was much shorter than I remembered and now Anheuser-Busch has discontined the free beer samples. While I haven't been there, I've heard great things about Discovery Cove so that might be a better option. I wish we had spent another day at the MK instead of Sea World!!!

Our family is going to disney for 7 days in April and we planned on a midweek visit to Seaworld. Our third day we will spend there.

We did SW before and after our Disney cruise this past Oct, and loved it. Kids were able to see all the shows the first day. The second day we saw our favorite shows again, and spent time seeing the animals out around the park. Feeding the dolphins was really cool. And they did have the free beer samples both days we were there... 2 cups each! And if you spread it out and go to a different line...

We brought the kids to WDW for their first time last August for 6 nights. We're returning this year for 7.

To be honest, there's SO MUCH to see and do on Disney property that we don't feel the need to pay more to venture off property. And we never even got to a water park, DTD, or the boardwalk.

Really...I'm sure she's not trying to manipulate her child!! It sounds more like she wants to surprise her with the Disney part of the trip.

For my DD, a reservation at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique was the thrill of a lifetime (and she was 8 at the time, and already knew about the Boutique) I have also surprised her with a ride in the front of the monorail, a dolphin tour while at SW, a character meal at CP.

A surprise trip to WDW on the day that we were checking in, after being at SW? That would just be too much.
