What do I need to know? Where should we stay? What should we do?

I'm used to planning 6 months in advance for WDW vacations. Now, I'm thinking about San Antonio SW in March for DD's 8th bday. Thanks for any suggestions you have on what we can do to make the day special for her.

We love Sea World in San Antonio. March is a great time to go because of the nice weather. I can't advise on where to stay because we usually stay with family. There are tons of shows going on throughout the day and they are all fantastic. Make sure that you see as many as you can. The dolphin show is GREAT. I've never seen Cirque De Soleil but from what I've seen advertised it's like that but in the water. You can also feed the dolphins that are in a pool. I believe when you enter the park you go to the right and you should be able to see it. They allow you to buy fish (around $4) to feed the dolphins at certain times throughout the day. If you watch all the shows and ride rides plan on being there all day. They have a barn that houses Clydesdales which are awesome to see up close. Check them out online because they do have special things like breakfast or something with Shamu but I can't comment as I've never done them before. My dd is 10 and Sea World is one of her favorite places in the world....next to Disney of course. ;) Have a great time!

We're in Houston and have had SW Annual Passes for many years. Whatever you do, do NOT stay in the La Quinta Ingram Park that's nearby. We spent 2 nights there last Summer because we got a rate that was too good to pass up, but we should have passed. Very, very scary place. :scared:

For years, we bid resort on Priceline and ended up at the Radisson or the Hyatt, but those days are gone, and we haven't found anything great to replace it. We have stayed at the Comfort Suites that's on 410 pretty close to the scary La Quinta and liked it just fine, and would stay there again.

We obviously enjoyed the park because we returned several years in a row. The dolphins are to the left when you enter the park. The dolphin & beluga whale show is called Viva and it is outstanding. Great music, comedy, animals, divers, etc. all in one show! Be sure to arrive at least 20 minutes early for the pre-show entertainment.

The week before Easter is Spring Break for much of TX, so I think it's going to be very crowded if that's when you're going. Just checked the park hours and they're open much later than usual, so that confirms that they're expecting heavy crowds that week. But they're open every day. You may have trouble finding accommodations that week also. Is that your week or are you looking at earlier or later?

Post back with any specific questions and I'd be glad to try to help.

You must see Viva!. It is an amzing show with pacific white side dolphins and belugas.

Also see Believe. The believe there is different with the fact that they have 3 slide outs.

If you dont mind spending some more money do the Shamu up close tour. I have heard from a couple of people that it is just amazing. You get to see SWT 5 killer whales in their back pools. And you get to see baby Hayln (baby shamu). She doesnt do shows yet and this is an awesome chance to see her. She was actually the first killer whale calf to be raised by humans.
