Hey DL folks! It's been five years since I went to DL, and this past Feb I went to WDW for the first time! Excellent experience, but pretty far for a west coaster from Canada.... so anyway. Have any of you flown from SEA to LAX recently? I am wondering what sort of price you paid for a ticket/what airline you used. I don't have time to go until pretty much President's Day weekend ... I know it might be crowded, and flights might cost more. Any quotes?

Thanks for your help!

what I would do is go to Alaska Air's home page, and subscibe to get notice of airfare sales. I would always chose Alaska as it is my fave, and their direct flights from the west coast to LAX are often just about $40 a head more than say flying Delta and needing to route thru SLC.

First of all, you should check all the local airports, not just LAX. LAX will have more flights and, perhaps, be slightly less expensive, but it is the least convenient airport to Anaheim. Consider Orange County, Longbeach, and Ontario as well. If you can get a fare around $150 you are doing well. You might have to spend more, perhaps $175. If you are looking at fares over $200, keep shopping unless you are desperate. Sidestep is a search tool that will compare all the major airlines for you. Orbitz also has a good search tool which compares many airlines. Once you do some general checks, be sure to go directly to the airline's own site to see if they have an even better rate. If you don't get fares anyway that seem reasonable, try shifting your dates or flight times. The more flexible you can be the better fares you can find. Of course Hotwire and Priceline are options as well if you are very flexible. Whatever you do, fly direct. There are many nonstop flights available and you don't want to spend 4 hours stuck in Phoenix when you can easily fly non-stop.

We also love to fly Alaska Air. We're also from Vancouver, B.C.

We typically fly from YVR to LAX. The cheapest we have gotten was $320 CDN after taxes. The most expensive was $370 CDN after taxes.

We've flown from YVR to Orange County. It usually costs us anywhere from $20-$50 more per airline ticket. Though convenient, we have decided to fly into LAX from now on because we have to buy FOUR tickets, and it all adds up!

Thanks for all your help folks!

Elly - yeah, I thought about the other airports, but always found them to be more expensive than flying into LAX, for some reason. Not sure if Priceline/Hotwire would work for me (I have fears!) but I will continue to keep searching.

c&m - hi again! Yeah... I'm trying for a REALLY low-budget trip for about 4 people. so far i've seen tix from SEA to LAX for about $250 CDN - and the savings might be enough to make me want to fly from SEA even though it's farther. Sigh.

Judy from Boise - thanks for the Alaska info!

Hiya Lilsonicfan...I've priced out tickets from SEA as well, wanting to go the budget route. We always ended up leaving from YVR though because of the convenience. With 2 young DDs, it just would be too much work, and the trip would take so long.

I have found some ways to cut down the ticket price when flying Alaska. If you depart/arrive on a Tues or Wed, the fare is lower. For our trip in March, we plan to leave for LAX on a Tues and return to YVR the following Wed. Check out whether that is true for the time period that you want to go. Good luck!!!

In general I agree that LAX is often the least expensive, but on our trip this summer we got the best deal flying into Ontario. You never know.

One more Alaska tip.......we are usually allowed our normal carry-ons plus they allow each traveler to "gate check" a medium suitcase, so we usually don't have to go to baggage collection when we get off the plane. This can really help when you are all ready tired !
To be sure you would need to verify at the check-in counter.
