Hi all! Just doing some looking around and I see that new boats called Sea Raycers have replaced the Water Mouse boats in the MK resort area. I see they are better for pollution and they seat 3 people, but what about the important information like
:
Are they as fast as the other ones? Faster?

What is the weight limit? Since these boats are 3 seaters, could they hold 2 adults?

Anyone who has been on these new boats, please give me the scoop! The boats at Bay Lake are a must do
(sometimes more than once) for us every trip, will we be dissapointed or thrilled??

Hi ... I read that the Sea Raycers are two-seaters, and not three-seaters. ANYONE KNOW???

Hi.

The Sea Racers (which replaced the water mice) are two-seaters. The "personal water craft" are like jet skis. I just called the marina to find out what it's all about.

Ahh! Thank you for clearing that up! So what are the differences between the old water mice and these new boats? Why the 5ft and DL requirement on these new ones?

I had been on the old Water Mice several times and I have been on the new Sea Racers 2 times, once on Crescent Lake and once on Bay Lake. Honestly besides a slightly different design and the white and blue color, I don't see much of a difference. They only seat 2 people just like the old ones and the age restriction has only been changed at Bay Lake (MK resorts) not Crescent Lake (Epcot resorts) because they somehow adjust the boats so they are not able to go as fast at Crescent lake.

OK, so I had to go and call myself too, just to be sure. The Sea Raycers seat two and are slower than normal "jet skis". They are rented by the resorts. When you rent the Sea Raycers you are free to roam the whole lake (approx. $24 for 1/2 hour).

The "personal water crafts" are jet skiis and are rented by Sammy Duvall's. They are 3 times faster than the Sea Raycer and can seat 3 people (up to 400 lbs) . The only time you can travel the whole lake is from 9 to 10 (before the Disney Sea Raycers hit the water). After 10, your area is cordoned off to about 3 or 4 football fields (sounds boring!). The jet skis are $65 for 1/2 hour.

Now with all that being said, I have a silly question. I asked the guy that answered the phone about alligators. And he confirmed that there are, in fact, alligators in the water. But he said the incidence of having an alligator encounter is like winning lotto (one in a million!). I don't know if I am willing to enter that lottery ... lol. What are YOUR thoughts??? (Especially from the Floridians that deal with gators more frequently ....)

ROTFLMAO :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think I will pass on the PWC (wave runner things) due to the cost (and the alligators-yikes!). Here is sammy duvalls website if anyone wants more info on the PWC whihc they list at $100 per hour for up to three people on one craft:

When I said 'cordoned off' ... I just meant that it was in a roped-off confined area. It doesn't mean that the alligators can't swim under the rope! lol lol lol

I HATE GATORS!

I really would love to know people's perspective on the alligator thing ... I am petrified!

My perspective?? Well.........which do you think is faster? That little tiny boat or the born swimmer with a tail rudder, four outboard sets of claws and an up front set of tree trunk shredders? :duck:

The big difference between the SeaRaycers and the old Mouse Boats is what they are made of. The Mouse Boats were some kind of plastic, and the Sea Raycers (manufactured by Sea Ray, how clever of them) are made of fiberglas like a regular sized ational boat from Sea Ray.

What this means to you: They weigh less, therefore the Sea Raycers can go a bit faster than the Mouse Boats could. They basically get "up on a plane" more easily, which boosts their speed. This only comes into play on Bay Lake. Like Terry S pointed out, they restrict the motors on the ones in Crescent Lake (rented from Yacht & Beach) due to the smaller size of the body of water. After an accident in April on Bay Lake, the Sea Raycers were considered to be a bit much for little kids to handle, so the age/height restrictions were put in place.

We Floridians do occasionally see alligators around, though it isn't like they're on every street corner or anything! There's one I see sometimes in the last retention pond you see on your right as you ride the express monorail from TTC to MK. Generally, alligators aren't interested in you. You are way too big to look like a good meal to them. Don't go stomping around in weedy areas of a lake where you can't see what's there -- and where the gators can't see you coming -- and you really don't have anything to worry about.

Besides, if you stay in your Sea Raycer, you have nothing to worry about!

Thanks so much CatLady! That was a great description and excatly what I wanted to know. I hope whomever was invloved in the accident in April was okay. Sounds like they will be even more fun than usual!

All I know is that we cannot wait until December so we can ride them. The boats are so much fun. So much in fact that me and DW started a new tradition. We are going to ride them the very last day before we check out of our hotel. Now this time I think I might ride them as soon as we get to WL and ride the bikes.
