SDMT Soft Opening Lookout Post

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/magic-kingdom/seven-dwarfs-mine-train/

On this page, click on the two boxes in the corner of the picture on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Up comes an activity and game. It starts with a countdown. When you finish the activity, it brings up a 'come back on the 16th to finish your training message.

It appears to be counting down to THAT day - the 16th. Not the 15th.

I didn't get the impression that this had anything to do with the actual ride. It looks to me like the instructions for some kind of interactive game you will be able to find on that site in 7 days.

Nothing yet and I leave Tuesday! I really thought soft openings happen at least a few weeks prior to the official opening of a ride like what's going on here :confused3

Just back May 5-10. Was in MK May 6 and May 8 no soft openings. At one point Tues we saw empty cars running but not later that day and none running at all on Thursday when we were in the park from 6pm-11pm. One cast member told us the cm's do not have their full hours of training yet and at that point which was Tuesday she said there would definitely be no soft openings during this week (meaning May 5-10).

So we didn't stress about it. I thought I would be more upset about missing a ride on it but it just made our trip a bit easier and there was so much to do anyway that we didn't feel cheated. It will be there next time. :thumbsup2

Come on Disney......please don't disappoint this group of 14! We will be there from the 17-22 and have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this ride. Wishing for.... Soft opening, soft opening, soft opening while we are there....sending our positive subliminal messages to you!!! :)

Not sure if this was mentioned but they have a sign saying opening may 28, 2014 outside the ride. Part of our group leaves today. We are here another week so hoping for some soft openings for DVC or ap members. If not we ll be back in October

Seems like they aren't doing the soft open route this time, could be a permanent change for future rides.

We leave friday for 6 nights and don't expect it at all. Will go pack in sept/oct though :)

People were riding today. I asked if they were doing a soft opening but the cm said they were just testing it. Someone ran past to get on and flashed a card(presume it's just cm's riding).

Well is a little more hopeful for everyone arriving before opening, maybe getting ready for soft opening.:confused3

OP thank you for starting this thread, I will be watching it. We do have FP+ for SDMT on 5/30 but we will also be in MK on 5/27, the day before it officially opens. I am hoping that they will do soft openings then so we can ride on both of our MK days :goodvibes.

There yesterday. Can confirm it was running with a few CMs on it. I spoke to the manager and he said they were doing load testing. No hint if or when there will be a soft opening. Good luck to those waiting.

Thanks for the report! I would happily help with their load testing if they'd ask!

CMs testing again today. Although they have 8 cms and 3 security posted at the entrance. Fingers crossed

Tuesday 13th 10 am no trains running

I was there this past week, and I just think that being one of the cast members who has to stand at the entrance of this thing must be the worst job ever! They must get the same battery of questions a million times a day. "When does it open? Can I ride it?" I felt kinda bad for them. I did of course make it a point to walk by that way just in case, but I didn't bother the CM's about it.

How with an email.

Sorry, but I no longer have the card. However, the card they are flashing looks like this:

On the back side, it has your date/time window that you can ride. As long as your card is valid, you can ride as many times as you want. The preview from 5/12-5/14 is for Magic Kingdom Operations only and is NOT extended to merchandise, custodial, photopass, entertainment, etc.

They may start randomly asking people as of this weekend, but it won't be a soft opening. I asked a Fantasyland leader at unload when I used my ticket and as per the leader I spoke to, it will be more of an invitational magical moment. I have no idea if what this leader said was true, as I never met him previously.
