I've read this and I think I understand but please be patient with me while I make sure.
I'm going in August with my sister and my daughter. My daughter and I will have MBs for our upcoming trip, plus our MBs from our trip last summer. Since these were all done under the same MDE account, am I correct that I *cannot* use our MBs from last summer as my bands for SDFP?
My husband and our other daughter went with us last summer and I still have their MBs. They are linked to my account and the linked tickets on them have been used up so there are no valid tickets linked to their bands. Can I use their bands for SDFP?
Similarly, my parents went last month and they are on their own MDE account. They have used three of their four park days so they still have one more valid park day on their tickets. Can I use their MBs for SDFP, so long as I am extra careful NOT to use their MBs as my ticket to enter the parks?
Thanks!
You're right. Your bands and your daughter's bands are clones of last year's. No SDFP.
You can use your husband and other daughter's MBs for SDFP at the kiosks.
Your parents' bands are a slightly different issue. Of course, you need to be extra careful not to try to use those MBs to enter the parks -- though the biometrics would stop you if you tried it. Still, mark them clearly with a Sharpie or tie ribbons around them or something. They had non-expiring tickets? Sign into their MDE and try to book a day of FP to confirm that's true. If the ticket is still valid, go ahead and prebook a day of FP for those bands for your upcoming trip (if it's within 30 days) - which you and your daughter will use for FP entry only. (Definitely not park entry, as we established!) No, this will have no effect on their remaining ticket. After you use that set of FP, go into their MDE and book a set of FP for the next day. And so on, each day of your trip. You can only prebook one day at a time because they only have one day's ticket. We call these GLFP (generator linked FP) because the FP is generated by the presence of a ticket on the profiles and can be booked in advance. That's different (and much better than) SDFP - which can only be booked at a kiosk, same day.
