i added 2 people on my Disney resort reservation that are phantoms to use the magicbands. do I need to make a separate MDE account for them too or can I add them on my current mde account?

In order to pull that off, you would need a MB for each of the tickets not used for entry, but that had FP+ Times on them correct?

He can just use the plastic cards or vouchers (for APs) to get on rides for FP+. Cards are a lot easier to carry around than extra MBs anyway.

You definitely don't need a separate MDE. Create the same phantoms names from the reservation on your primary MDE and link the reservation to the MDE.

so you wouild pick up cards at ticket window, not swipe them for admission , and bingo..I love this

i have been reading (I really have) but I'm still confused. I made a room only reservation. I got 6 bands. I changed to a package to add the Meal plan. Hopefully will get more (6) mbs. 1. Tom jar the 6 previous mbs work do I need a dummy account or to link hen to a dummy person?
2. Do I have to wait until I use my other 3 fps before I can get more?
3. If I have fps for 9, 10, 11 (example) can I get an overlapping ressie?
3. I have MDE in my phone. Is the new fp selection (4th fp) a different app or can I do it through my MDE?
4. When I go to the park, I can walk up ronanqkioswk and get all 3 fps?

You get 3 fp's in advance, linked to you 6 MBs with tickets.
Then you have 6 more MBs (though not sure if you will get them free from Disney based on the way you are doing it)-- They need to be linked to a different dummy account. As far as Disney is concerned, they are being used by entirely different people than the first 6 MBs. Because they don't have tickets attached to them, you can't get advance FPs with them.
But once you are in the park, you can take them to a kiosk.. The kiosk doesn't care whether they have linked tickets or not. The kiosk will see a MB that has no FPs, and will let you make 3 same-day FP reservations.

So yes, you can ultimately get overlapping reservations.
No, you can't do it on your phone -- Your phone will be linked to your ticketed MDE account. But you can use the second MB set at a kiosk.
So to answer 4 -- yes. You can walk in to the park with FPs already booked for 9/10/11 on your main MBs. Walk up to a kiosk with your second set, and get FPs for 9:15/10:15/11:15.
Then after using all 6 FPs, in theory, you can get additional FPs.

Mambo ~ if the room only reservation that was Canceled was booked using the same MDE as your package reservation, your MagicBands are clones and one set cannot be used for SDFPs. All sets of MagicBands provide the link to your pre-booked FPs.

Thank you. That was my next question. Would have been a nice bonus but looking over my reservations there are only 1 or 2 additional fps I'd even be interested in anyway.

ETA: the only fp we are using at Epcot is TT. We don't feel as if we need the others. We booked them because we have to but they are tucked at the end of the day in case we want to pull them down.

If you book a resort reservation on that second MDE, book 60 days out. Better attraction choices, of course - and very convenient to avoid the kiosks entirely, though the one at City Hall does remain pretty empty.

I am confused by this. I (quite accidentally) have old magic bands from my first MDE account.

I have a package reservations with a second MDE account (with, of course, a separate email). This has the FP+ all prebooked, as we are within 60 days.

Can I somehow prebook FP+ using magic bands from the first account?

I'm not an expert, so I'll defer to those that are, but in my understanding, the only way to use the old MBs for pre booking is if they had at least a day of park admission on them.

You're right - old MBs with no tickets attached can't be used to prebook FP.

I read that. The post i quoted starts "here is a use case NOT covered before" so I thought you were talking about a way to pre book on the "phantom" account.

I have new magic bands and a new account, with prerecorded fp+.

Does anyone know what would happen if I booked a package with the old account/magic bands, booked fp+ on it, then cancelled the package. Would the fp+ on the cancelled reservation still be usable? Or would they disappear?

Okay, I did another day of FPP testing with the new system – this time at DHS to try more of the Tiers and just confirm what was working and didn’t. Here’s what I found (along with some pics so in case I’m doing something wrong and other people know how they can let me know!):

1. Most importantly, I had no issues using AP (premade) FPP’s for people who were not in the park (had not been used for admission) or making SDFP’s and using them. There was also a TON of availability all day. I got a 1:55 TSMM at 1:45 (just luck I know) but when I arrived at 11 I could get RnRC and ToT most times starting early afternoon and GMR immediately. Also, I checked some cards I hadn’t used before since the change including some old 1 day Waterpark Tickets (that were never assigned to an MDE account – just bought and used same day) and they also still worked for SDFP.

2. Contrary to my experience Sunday (I think I just didn’t go through the process far enough then), I could NOT make a second Tier 1 in the same park without having used all 3 FPP’s. I tried two different ways with two different accounts – either only making 1 FPP beforehand, or making 3 FPP’s beforehand and using the Tier 1 and then cancelling the other two. In both cases it let me book anything at another park (ie after using 1 Tier 1 either as the only FPP booked or after cancelling the other 2) I could book a Tier 1 at Epcot. Or a Tier 1 at Epcot and another ride at MK or AK. But each time I tried to make the second Tier 1 at DHS (where I was) it said I had to have used all 3 FPP’s before I could get another Tier 1. It did give me the option of “Changing” my original experience and even showed Tier 1 times available for each of the rides in DHS but when I clicked on one of those rides, I then got the error message saying I had already used one and had to use all 3 FPP’s first.

3. Someone had also asked about trying to see what else was available in another park before cancelling what you had for the current park (after using 1). As far as I can tell, once you’ve used 1, it will only give you choices for the park you’re in if you have any other FPP’s there. The only way to see a different park is to cancel the remaining ones. Even if the window had passed, I still had to cancel it (which it let me do even if past the time window) because otherwise my only option was to change it to something still in DHS.

Continued:

4. Not sure if this is new or a problem with my account but in doing SDFP’s I was unable to view/make changes on MDE/the app for anyone who originally had their own account. I could still get SDFP’s and could use them but only by changing at the kiosk. So I have several friends with their own MDE accounts who gave me their cards when done with their trip. I had booked FPP’s for them at some point and I thought in the past I could view and change these after using them for SDFP’s by logging in through the browser. This time they didn’t appear at all. I even tried doing it manually – booked one and then pulled up that person through my account and it told me they didn’t have any plans for the day. Even though I had just made plans. However, anyone whose account I had managed originally (people who came and visited and I bought tickets for and made all plans for – ie inlaws or kids) I could view the new SDFP’s on my MDE app and still (as I said Sunday) make changes through the app (or the browser). Again, if I cancelled any of those I could no longer add them in (it said that person needed tickets) unless I went back to a kiosk. Same if I tried to book a FPP for them in a different park. I could only make 3 at a kiosk and change them to inside the same park.

Let me know if anyone doesn’t understand any of this – I’m guessing I’ll be thinking of more too. Sorry if this is too detailed – mostly this is to help HiroMyHero, ScrapYap or MesaBoy hopefully! Not sure why my pics loaded differently between the posts but hopefully you can follow! I also don't know how to tag people - sorry!

2. So, it will be more advantageous for guests to pre-book their 3 FPs when their booking window opens. There's no advantage to entering the park with only a Tier 1 booked because you were "forced" to have 2 Tier 2 rides before possibly choosing another Tier 1.

Thanks, Marcie, for taking the time to research again this week! Much appreciated!! :-)

I hope others try this because I felt like I must be doing something wrong. I know Sunday I got to the screen that showed I could pick another time but don't think I ever clicked it to see that it then wouldn't actually let me get one. But I kept trying - the one I had booked only one for I tried booking 2 more and then cancelling them in case you had to have and cancel and still couldn't get another Tier 1 (in the same park - I had no trouble getting one in another park). If others find the same thing I agree it makes sense to book all 3 in advance if you plan to stay in the park. Seems like booking 1 or 2 would only be helpful if you then were parkhopping. I'll try again either this weekend or next week but hoping others test it in the meantime!
