SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

Just a small tip for viewing your Fastpasses on your phones if you think you might have trouble remembering rides/times you made both sets of FP for. We took a screenshot of FP booked for that day and made that our lock screen on our phones. This way if we needed a quick reminder we just had to glance at our lock screen instead of 1.)unlocking phone 2.)open MDE app. 3.)checking FP in app. Also might save you a tiny bit of data usage over the course of your vacation.

That is brilliant!!

So I haven't read any comments (you told me not to after all), but I have a question that I couldn't find answered in the first post. I currently have one MDE account which has old bands on it. I plan to book a throwaway room (staying offsite) to get new bands for an upcoming trip. I understand that I need to create a new MDE account to book the room and link tickets to, so I can use the old bands for SDFP. However, I've already made a few dining reservations on my existing MDE account. So those would not be on the MDE account that my room, tickets, and active bands are on. Do I have to cancel and rebook those ADRs? Basically I guess I'm asking, can dining be booked on the SDFP MDE account when tickets are on my other MDE account? They weren't easy ADRs to get so I'm guessing if I do, then SDFP won't be worth it for me.

To the bolded: The only thing required to book ADRs is a valid credit card# in the MDR account used to book it so that in the event you're a no-show they can charge the $10 per person fee.

No you don't have to cancel and rebook those ADRs. ADRs are not tied to your resort stay (with the exception of 180+10 access for onsite guests) or your park tickets. Imagine your an Orlando resident driving to Disney property to have dinner. No MB required right. When you enter a restaurant they will not scan your MB. They only ask your name to verify you have a dining reservation. There is a possibility they scan your MB at Be Our Guest restaurant in MK if you are there for breakfast or lunch and preordered your meals online (Which I would recommend doing by the way. It's a big time-saver.) I can't remember for certain if they scanned our MBs when we preordered our lunch there. Either way, it's a moot point because if you're planning on utilizing SDFP you will have both sets of MBs on you at all times anyway. Have fun and enjoy your trip!

ETA: I wasn't sure if this would be considered off topic for this thread because it pertains mostly to ADRs. Mods please delete if it is.

Personally, I think 2 sets of SDFP is too many. You'd probably end up not even using them all. One set is perfect.

So you don't have an AP? And you won't be arriving at the MK until you can get in for the party?
Correct. No AP. We will arrive around 4p, as that's when they start letting the party tickets in. So we could get advanced FP for 4-6:30pm IF I link the tickets. I was sort of thinking 2 sets of SDFP would be too much but I didn't want to link them without getting other opinions on it first.

I have read through the first post and want to confirm I can still do this when I travel next month.I have a pkg booked with hoppers. All the magicbands I have are already linked in my MDE to names traveling . No one I know has any, so I would need to buy from Disney web site for 13.00 a piece. I would create a bogus MDE and link those bands to bogus people. When I arrive at the park, I will be able to use them first thing to get 3 fast passes to use that park later in the day. Just scan that band at the kisoks in the park. I can go in apark early and load the bands and then hop to another park for my regular fast passes i have in my real MDE. These bands will work for me the same way when I return in Dec.I do not need to have any type of ticket linked to this bogus account.

overall I agree but there are two times that a second set can be useful for families it the right situation.
One time we're an extra set can be very useful is if your a huge park hopping family, in particular if you have someone who gets up early.
For example, we had two people who would hit park 1 at rope drop, they would grab fp for late in the day.
They would meet us at park 2 around 11 where we would use prebooked fp and/or get sdfp.
The secret is when the parks are nuts, say 7/4 or Christmas. You can have prebooked early, sdfp a midday set and a late set that most likely would be be available by the time your prebooked expired

It's def not for every family and doesn't even always work out but if you have a easy way to carry them and keep it straight it can pay off huge

You got it

I think you misunderstood but I am sure it is from the way I explained. I just created a new account using my hubby's name and a new email so they should not be linked, but I will double check. Because we are doing a split stay, I linked the first DVC res to my MDE account and the 2nd res to hubby's new account. So, that second res will give us all new MB, not clones. That is what will be our primary set of SDFP.

My question is whether it is worth it to keep the special event ticket (MNSSHP) unlinked so that we have a set whole set to use as SDFP in the future (the tickets and the new MB, which will not be connected to each other) or to link the tickets to my (our main) MDE account so that we can get advanced FP for just before the party. My main question is "Is it worth it to have the ability to get 2 sets of SDFP?" Would we need/want 2 sets?
Wouldn't you be able to book FPs 30 days out on the party tickets if they weren't linked to your main MDE? That way you could get another set and still get FPs 30 days, not 60 days out.

Thanks for confirming, will CMs at the kisok question me how I went through all my regular fastpasses whe I arrive at the kisoks at rope drop?

No they won't question you. They might offer to help you make FP selections which is nice of them. I find that a polite "no thank you, I got it" works well. CMs at the kiosks are there to assist any guest that might need help navigating the kiosk screens.

I was able to get 5 extra bands off ebay, each has a different number. I tried to link them to a phantom on my MDE just to see what message I would get. 2 of the bands said linked to to another account (which is good and what they should say). The other 3 said to call disney for help and said you must be 18. I assume these 3 bands are likely child bands and that is why you have to call to link them?

I have 3 extra bands that I'm trying to link to phantoms and I am getting the same message (Sorry, we are unable to process your request at this time--call Disney etc). I know 2 are adult bands, not sure about the 3rd. Without linking them to an MDE they won't work, correct?

Are those MB newly purchased or used? If the MBs were linked to MDE accounts before, you can't link them again. You can link MB once and it's a permanent link. You just use them for SDFP. Hope the names and gender would match when scanning at the FP entrance.

They are used. Ok so even though they are not linked to MY MDE they are ok. Thank you for the clarification!

Hmmm, I didn' think about the 30 day. I was so focused on 60 day. I suppose I could do it. Though at 30 day, with a party that night, I would think those afternoon FP would go fast. But it is an alternative option and I could then have 2 sets for SDFP in the future. Thanks!!

Do they care if the gender matches for SDFP? Couldn't you just be using someone else's FP (who decided they didn't want to ride)???

A PP posted a few pages back saying a CM at It's a Small World was questioning. I thought it would be fine but things can happen. I am trying to match as much as possible with my existing extra tickets just in case.

Any RFID enabled card will work for SDFP at the kiosk?
Any card will work. Doesn't matter what's on the card or what isn't on the card or what used to be on the card. Doesn't matter how old it is or who it originally belonged to. The one card that can't be used is a ticket voucher - as they are not RFID enabled (no circled Mickey or emitting card icon on back).

I apologize, but I didn't see my question answered, and did a search and didn't find it either (but I didn't read all the comments b/c I was told not to.)

Does a key card from Disney's Vero Beach or Hilton Head Island Resort qualify as an "any RFID enabled card?" They have the circled Mickey on the back. Or does it specifically have to be a WDW card?

I'd rather have my first choice by prebooking with those party tic

In all probability, they will. Good luck! Report back after your trip!

They don't care. And you could. However, there are those (fortunately) rare CMs who are highly officious or power-mad or just plain Sally Miseryguts types. They really are rare. I haven't met one for years - and the last one was, oddly enough, an elderly woman in Fantasyland. (Same quibbly CM that people have reported at small world??) I do tend to give phantoms gender-neutral names, though - usually one that matches the name of a real person, but starts with a different letter. So that Tom becomes Gom. Which would be fine unless he's Irish, in which case Tom just got some shade thrown at him (gom being an Irish insult). So Gom is a twit, but who knows if whether a he or a she?

I think they are not able to process your request because those bands were likely deactivated. So they're technically not linked to anyone's MDE account, but they should still be linked to a profile and usable for SDFP according to what I've been reading.

Deactivated bands are still linked to the profile. And they definitely still work for SDFP. But deactivated bands won't work for park admission (even if you have a ticket on the profile). Probably these bands are already linked, even though the specifics of the error message don't say that. Of course, a band that was stolen rather than purchased also won't link. Let us know how it turns out @traveljunkie!
