De-friend the phantoms from which MDE? The old one or my new one? I'm so confused . . .

Do it from inside both MDEs, to make sure it's done. Start in either MDE. For instance, in your old MDE, go to your Friends and Family List. Find to the primary Phantom and click on the "Update" button on the right. Then click "Remove from This List." Refresh the page and repeat with any other phantoms still appearing. Then sign out, go into the other MDE and repeat with the real profile names appearing on the Friends and Family List.

Do you have a resort reservation on the new MDE with the phantoms? Did you buy MagicBands and link them on the new MDE already?

Never mind. I called Disney and they moved my phantoms over to my new MDE. So I'm all set. Woo hoo!

I highly recommend people read the thread on throwaway rooms too, if you are new to sdfp.
The throwaway room isn't just good for people staying off site but can be helpful tied int this thread too.
I.e. You can get bands for less then buying them in store depending on the situation

Sorry, another question (this thread is like potato chips, one question/chip just leads to another)...

Say I have a rogue band that belongs to an unknown MDE and I have a 2nd rogue band that belongs to a different MDE. When I go to the kiosk, can I input both bands and search for FPs for them both at the same time (even though they are from different MDEs)? Also, since these are "unknown rogues" (say from Ebay) I assume I can't make them my "friends"?

Okay I just discovered this thread. I read through the FAQ and am now upset with myself! My husband and I visited WDW in 2014 on his MDE (we will call it #1). I booked our trip for this May on my email (separate account, we will call it #2). At that point, we would have been able to use SDFP because the Magic bands were linked on his account, not the one for this year. However, I linked the tickets to his account last month (had I read his thread earlier, I wouldn't have done that!). My question: is there any way to "unlink" his account to the current one without messing up any current FPs or ADRs?

Remember - the first post of the thread represents the whole bag of chips. Go back and crunch and munch your way through it again. It will remind you that kiosks have nothing to do with MDEs. And note Marcie's photos (also on the first page of the thread) of creating a FP group by tapping bands one after another at a kiosk.

Ya'll!!! Just booked a last minute trip for October. I'm off to read the first post (in detail and with a fine-toothed comb) from the beginning, so don't worry. But I am having a slight panic attack after skimming the first post, lol. We had totally mastered the art of SDFP (didn't we all use to call them something else?!) on our previous two trips. We had like 10 bands from a campsite we had booked in 2014, and we used them without any problem to make multiple extra SDFP for our family of 4 on several trips. It was awesome!!!!! Our last trip was in January of 2016 though, and it looks like things have changed again. Wahhhhh! Anyway, I know it'll be fine...I'm just not good with change, lol. But, at least I have you guys here to point me in the right direction should I have any questions once I finish digesting, right? Right?!?

You have (or will receive) a second set of MBs associated with your 2017 resort reservation? (MDE #2)

What you mean is that you have your own MDE, but you and your husband's MDE are friends -- so the profiles for family members are shared, right? You don't have two separate, unconnected sets of profiles for your family?

To confirm, log into your MDE and note the MBs that appear under each profile. Do a screen capture or jot down one of the MB numbers. Then log into your husband's MDE and confirm that the MBs are identical - which means the profiles are identical. I assume that's what you'll see. You could also just look at the upcoming plans -- what you see (resort reservations, etc.) on one MDE is also on the other MDE, right?

They've never been called anything but SDFP. (These are wise words, enterprising men quote 'em. Don't act surprised, you guys, cuz I wrote 'em.)

You'll find that the only thing that's really changed is that you can't make modifications to SDFP on disneyworld.com (or the app). You have to go back to a kiosk.

Can anyone point out any problems with my plan?

Going in a month for a 10 day trip as a family of 5 (1 of which is a 1-year old).
We have an MDE with FP+, tickets, resort, etc.
In order to have SDFP for the family, we are:

• borrowing 2 "active" MBs from in-laws who are on separate MDE account and not on the trip with us
• using the 1-year old's MB since she gets on rides without an MB
• buying a new MB from Disneyparks to set-up as a phantom in a new, separate MDE

I think that gives me 4 MBs for SDFPs which is all we would need since the 5th is only 1. I think the only annoying part will be having to track the SDFPs on paper, but that seems manageable.

Thanks - yes, I saw that series of pictures, but I mistakenly thought that the bands in those pics were all "friends" with each other (rather than rogue "strangers"). I got confused! Glad to hear that the kiosk cares not whether bands are friendly or not (and one can input random, stranger bands as a group... makes life much easier...)

Thank you for your response! So if I buy a set of magic bands, I can link them to a throwaway MDE account? One that I create with a separate email address? And then I can use SDFP with those bands? This is what I am gathering from the first post, but I might need to go back again.

Yup, more questions...

(1) Room only reservation, not a package -- If I have 2 "real" people in a room (1 adult 1 child) and 2 phantoms (1 adult 1 child) so I can collect extra MBs, do I need to modify my hotel reservations before we arrive and kick out the phantoms? Or does it *not* matter (since even with the phantom adult, there would only be 2 adults on the reservation)?

(2) (I read the 1st page twice, but I may have missed the answer...) Someone told me earlier that you can't mix and match parks using SDFP... I now have a question about cancelling an SDFP... Let's say I make an SDFP at park 1, but then I change my mind (about using it) and head to park 2 instead -- can I cancel the park 1 SDFP using the park 2 kiosk? Or is my band now "locked up" until the time passes for the park 1 SDFP?

(3) As far as anyone is aware, is there a list somewhere that shows which kiosk locations have "real" kiosks and which ones are just CMs with ipads? I may bring more than one set of bands, and I think I would feel more comfortable at "real" kiosks where a CM does not need to "drive" for me...)

There would be no purpose to kicking phantoms out of your resort room. They're the best travel companions ever. You'll hardly know they're there. All you have to do for them is carry their MagicBands.

You can mix and match parks with SDFP. However, if you book an afternoon SDFP at one park, then go to a different park and attempt to get morning SDFP, in all probability, you're going to run into a snag. Book SDFP at a park, then use those SDFP before attempting to book SDFP in a second park on the same day. Can you cancel an unused SDFP from park #1 at a park #2 kiosk? @marciemi ??!!???

Check the main FP thread for kiosk locations. On this thread, our favorite kiosks are the "secret" ones in MK City Hall and AK Guest Services (inside the park). They are unmanned.
