Screwed up hotel reservation, need one day next week w/o FOTL access, which day?

I screwed up our HRH hotel reservation and now I only have 2 nights there (next Thursday and Friday before Memorial Day). Since this is our first time at Universal, I am thinking about dring there from WDW one day next week so that we can activate the APs and check out the parks.

Since we won't have FOTL, the weather is so hot, and we have 2 little kids (4 and 1), which day do you think would have the least crowd?

Wednesday.
Wake up early, and arrive to the parking garage at 8am. The walk to the gate takes 15 minutes. IOA opens early on busy weekends, although they don't officially announce anything, so you might get in at 08:30am. The ticket processing center is to the left just after entering the gate. It won't take long early in the morning to process your APs, and then you can take a lap of walkon rides before the crowd hits. By noon, it will be hot, and you can go back to your WDW hotel for the afternoon.

You know, you'll also have FOTL for Saturday morning, even though you will be checking out of HRH that morning. You can still go back to the parks that morning before the crowd hits.

Bring a bathing suit for the kid, sun screen, and a good book to read for yourself. Once the 4 year old goes in the play grounds, they don't want to come out. Especially the Curious George area at USF.

Thursday and Friday are really busy with school groups. Wednesday is pretty light. Saturday is still pretty busy. I think you get FOTL all day for the day you check out, not just the morning. At least we did two weeks ago. You can also check in early for your first day and have that whole day too.
