Hi everyone :) My family and I will be staying at the Fort 10/14 - 10/21. This is our 2nd trip in our camper, our 1st trip to Disney World. I actually have been to the Fort twice, my last visit was in 1989; but my DH and 3 DS's have never been to Disney. My question is do I need to purchase a screen tent for the picnic table? Will it be real buggy around that time? Some of the brochures show the picnic tables on cement, are all the campsites set up like that? We are staying in a preferred site but I do not know the loop.

I have seen a lot of the screens set up, FW is not to me a real buggy place but if you are going to be eating on the table a lot I think it would be nice to have one. I do know they dont always keep out animals as a squirrel got into the screen across from us on our last trip and couldnt get out. He did finally get out.

We've stayed at FW several times and we've never used a screen tent and never felt the need for one. We always have one along, but frankly there wasn't enough room on any of the sites we've had to put it up (it's rather large and the sites aren't that big by the time our 35' camper is set up). I think Disney does a good job of controlling the bugs, and at least at the times we've been there (November and March), we were never bothered at all by bugs.

I think it would be more for the rain than for bug control..... when I bring one, it doesn't always get put up. They are relatively cheap though, so get one and if you don't use it, oh well.

The picnic tables are heavy, but can be moved to anywhere on the site you wish

Thanks for all of your input. We have the Dinning Plan so I don't think we will be eating at the campsite very often, I was mainly concerned about the bug control. I love to camp but I hate bugs! :scared1:

We always use a screen tent! We move the picnic table under it, and use it for our living room/kitchen. We keep all the appliances in there, and our Coleman Kitchen, and tubs with camping stuff in them. The tent keeps the rain off, and the bugs out.

Shannone1 had one of the nicest tents I've seen on a previous post. It would be worth messaging her to get a pic of it. I believe she got it off amazon.com.

I keep meaning to get one like it myself.

?
I have to tell you. We sleep the fort aprox 40-50 nights a year. In fact, I just got back today from our last trip. Right now the bugs are not bad. There are lots of love bugs. Butthey dont bother you. BUT WHEN THE YELLOW FLIES COME OUT & I RUN FOR COVER!!!!!!! When I get bit I SWELL UP LIKE A BALLOON!!! ITS CRAZY!!!!!! IT HURTS WHEN THEY BITE TOO! I have heard other people complain about them too. I have also been bit by mosquitos there too. I dont know what people are talking about when they say there are no bugs. Some days and seasons are better than others. It was fine yesterday and today, but I am still bringing my screened in porch on all of our trips just in case.
