Screen Print & Embroidery

My husband may not think so since it looks to me, like I really NEED a YuDu! Just one bit of concern. I have never worked with Photo Shop and I'm not sure exactly how you isolate each color and make it black. That sounds difficult to me. Also, all of these neat DISigns that I have gotten for our upcoming trip, that I planned on having to do the iron on transfers...would it be possible for me to use these DISigns with the YuDu?

Thanks for the awesome pictures. They look GREAT!

Alright everyone,
I finished filming last night. Shirts turned out great. I just have put put the video together. FYI Color blend shirts take longer than just doing a couple different solid colors. It takes a few passes to get the colors to look blended vs like streaks.

Hope to have the video done and up no later than tomorrow.
I'll keep you posted!

Wow, I am blown away, your AK shirts are phenomenal!!!

I have to admit that you inspired me to go out and purchase my own YuDu machine!!! A gift I have been wanting for several years. In case others are interested, you can now but it at JoAnn's ($99.99 original) and use your 40% off coupon! The coupon no longer state YuDu on the exclusions so you get it for $60!

I can not wait for your tutorial, I am anxious to see how you have created these shirts and your blending is absolutely unreal. Did you sit down and do all the shirts in one sitting or over a couple of days?

Again, amazing shirts, you have done an incredible job w/them!!!

The video is coming soon, I promise. Between colors its only a few mins, I use a hair dryer to speed it up. If you use a heat gun on the t-shirt platens that come with the yudu you'll melt the plastic. But hair dryer doesn't generate enough heat to melt plastic. I've made my designs by piecing together clip art. I found a pumpkin clip-art then a mickey mouse silhouette and erased part of it to make the mickey ears. Made swirls for the ears and face on the pumpkin. Tried making it look like the pumpkin mickey years that I've seen pics of.

I'd be more than happy to post the design layers. Do you want any of it personalized or anything? My biggest thing was that with my designs I wanted to be the first one to wear them in the park. lol I know that probably sounds silly. But if your not going till next year your more than welcome to them.

I'm going to start on the video tonight when I get home from the office.

Absolutely I totally understand, you created them you should absolutely get the first go of the "show off." I would never dream of wearing them first!!! Our trip isn't until June 2013!

As for personalization, I would love the Hakuna Matata 2013 but leave the area above blank (you can also email me or send me a photoshop file if that is easier and I can play from there). May I ask how you create the font to have the shadow behind it? Is it actually a shadow or just larger font that you then centered smaller font onto?

Also, if possible your blue shirt w/the castle and Tinkerbell if that could say 2013 instead, that would be great! Love for it to keep the We Believe in Magic but w/o the family name. We are traveling w/my in-laws (same last name) and then my parents (different last name) so I am having a harder time w/the name part it.

Again, thank you for all of your help with details and answers to questions, I really appreciate it!

These are AMAZING, and as much as I kike the iron on shirts we;ve made for our kids, these would last much longer!! I may just have to convince my DW that we need to try this!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing!!! :goodvibes

WOW My video is way long i let it upload to YouTube over night. Its almost 2 hours long! Feel free to skip over parts SORRY. I just didn't want to delete parts that someone wanted. So Here's the Link:

Hope it helps! I also put the tricks I just in photoshop on the video. That "shadow" i use on the font is a Layer>LayerStyle>Stoke But i do show you that.

I'll get those still up later today but I can send it you the PhotoShop file as well that way you can play with it. The font is the only thing I'm worried about. Jokeman (hakuna matata) I think comes with windows, But the blue shirt i know i downloaded that font from fontspace.com

My video is about as thorough as you can get. Again sorry its SOOOO LONG! :scared:

Enjoy and I want to see your finished products! :cheer2:

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for taking and posting 2 hours worth of video, I can't wait to get started and I am certain that I will watch every minute.

I watched the first few already and really appreciate your help and how you explain why, this will be so terrific to have before I even get started w/my shirts.

This might be in the video as well but did you purchase extra platens (sp?)? In your pictures it looks like each shirt has one so I wasn't sure. If so, where did you buy those (sorry if you wrote this already but I don't think I saw it).

Again, thanks so much for posting!!! :yay::cheer2:

Thanks so much for posting this. I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm sure that someone (probably me) will need all 2 hours worth of information to get started. My husband used to do silk screening when he was in high school, but the process he explained to me seemed insane and difficult (he graduated in 1980, so it's been awhile). I think I may have to check out a Yudu machine. He might even help me with this; he's been making noises about wanting to do some screening again. Hmmm.... :goodvibes

I purchased the extra platens ( don't know if sp that right either lol) 1 from Joann's on clearance for 9 dollars then I went to Micheal's for some white speedball ink and saw they had theirs on clearance for $7.00 I started with one platen but you have to rinse your screens out every time your finished so ink doesn't dry in them. So i wasted a lot of time / ink when I only had one. I saw someones video where they made their own platens but i can't seem to find the video now. But it was not worth me going out to buy the supplies with i found them so cheap!

Oh wow, great point, I didn't think about the ink on the platen. I will definitely keep my eye out for deals on platens, thank you!

Here is my other "just picking your brain" question but I love your disigns, you are incredibly creative and great at seeing what will make a fabulous image. Have you happened to think about anything for Epcot or DHS? I was thinking that hat would be great for DHS but can't seem to find a ball image that would work for Epcot (i.e. just the lines w/o the fill). Those were as far as I made it so far so just thought I would reach out and see if you have even thought of anything for these parks.

Also if anyone has in ideas that i might be able to use to create a shirt design, I could use the help. I'm dry right now lol I want to do 2 more shirts (one for everyday we are there) and all my creative juices are working on my son's Prince Charming costume :)

Too funny, I have been trying to brainstorm this myself and hitting some road blocks (ideally I would like 8 designs but note, I said ideally ).

Some thought starters that might give you inspiration:

Dumbo flying over??? (castle maybe)

Sorcerer Hat

Epcot ball w/Mickey Ears (like your pumpkin disign)

Something w/the silhouette of the 7 Dwarfs on ???

Mickey Ear Ice Cream Bar
mickey-mouse-ice-cream-bar.jpg

Dole Whips?

I thought this shirt was neat w/the inverse design (wording would need to reflect FL vs. CA)

Their is a disigner that makes character cupcakes, could something be done w/that?

Sorry, just sort of a brain dump for where I am at right now. I will keep thinking though.

I watched the whole video and I'm just so impressed with your skills and talent. I'm buying one of these YUDO machines! We leave in September so I hope I have time to at least get one set ready for this trip. I'll probably keep it very simple this time, but I'm thinking of doing a Fantasmic dragon with flames or the castle with fireworks for our next trip. Thanks for the inspiration.

Let me know if you would rather the Photoshop file and PM your email I'll send them over to you.

Thanks for the ideas! playing with a few in my head. Probably sleep on it maybe get started on a new one while I'm at work tomorrow :)

Just got to thru watching the entire video. You are AWESOME for making this for us to watch. I am so glad I watched it. You gave alot of great tips and pointers. Thank you so much.

Your tshirts look great!

Thank You :goodvibes I'm glad you'll are liking it. My mom (who is going with me and the kids to Disney) asked me "are getting paid to do this" while I was putting the video together. I was like "no mom, its just my way of helping others. I've gotten a lot of help and tips from boards and you tube. It's my way of paying it back." It was funny to me that she asked me that cause she is a HUGE believer in Karma...

I'll be playing with some t-shirt ideas, I'll post when I get something :)

Like others have said, tell your Mom you are inspiring others every day!!! Seriously, because of you, I bought the YuDu and am going to try and make my own shirts!!! I am also telling tons of people about it here at work as well so it is definitely spreading (Lots of good karma heading your way!).

Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Ok here is a little something I wiped up quickly. A little bit of inspiration hit. I think... LOL Keep in mind were are going week of Halloween.
