Screaming on the Haunted Mansion

Please tell me that there are other people completely annoyed by this.. You're trying to enjoy the Haunted Mansion and there are people who won't stop screaming. I am not talking about 1-2 screams because they are scared..I am talking about obnoxious screeching throughout the entire ride just to be ridiculous. Today this happened to us and it's not the first time. I couldn't enjoy the ride and got off with a huge headache. I was also quite grumpy. Has this happened to anyone?

Yep! And it's WORSE at Disneyland, especially when you have people reciting the entire script in the foyer and stretching room. The screaming generally starts when the lights go out in the stretching room, and continues throughout the ride. Very annoying to say the least. This is why I only go on the ride when it is near vacant, and I usually let everyone in the room go ahead of me, just to be away from people.

I try to do that but they are starting to pack the stretch room so tight that when you come out to the doom duggies, everyone in pushing...so you try to get towards the back and then another stretch room lets out and you're stuck in a Haunted Mansion mob!

Yes, I've noticed this too, but only a few times and it's all because of obnoxious teenagers! I've noticed it mainly happens in the evening when maybe a few Florida teenagers decide to come visit the park. I love the ride and it is one of my favs! It annoys me when the HM is mocked by the rude screaming followed by laughter.

Now those rides are different. I'd constantly be screaming on the first two, and every drop on SM.

But Haunted Mansion? THAT'S obnoxious.

These rides are all fun and screaming is a natural reaction on a lot of them...I'm really talking about the teenagers who scream the whole entire ride for the sake of screaming for the whole entire ride....and miss the real fun of it along the way!

Yes it happens. Yes it's annoying. Luckily, you can go on it again and the screamers will be gone. As my brother always says, "You're not in a private room at the Hilton!"

Yelling teenagers are definitely screaming purposefully to get a laugh from their friends, but this sort of thing is along the same lines as people who have been on a ride so many times that they (probably innocently) forget that other people may be experiencing Disney for the first time.

One time in particular, DH and I were in line for POTC and the family in front of us was soooo excited to be going on the ride for the first time. There were two young children and the whole vibe from the family was so thrilling to experience - we were so happy to be on the boat with "first-timers". Unfortunately, once in the boats, there were two adult women (who have probably been on the ride dozens of times) who "whisper-talked" nearly the whole time about one of the woman's manicurist. Now, I truly believe they were just oblivious to the fact that they were total downers on the ride (who wants to hear about real-life stuff while in the midst of a pirate-adventure ), but I was still so sad on behalf of the other family.

I agree with other posters - It's annoying for someone to do the "Haunted Mansion" recitation prior to the ride, it's unfortunate when people in the queue tell their family members exactly what happens on a certain ride in a non-whisper voice (someone might want it to be a surprise) and it's really too bad when people forget that someone may be experiencing "the magic" for the first time.

Okay, you all are going to hate me for this one, but that screamer has often been me and my sister. We are very loud most of the time (we are theatre kids. what can I say? haha) but only when its appropriate. I do have to admit that I have screamed at unnecessary times on HM. Although I do scream at those pop up thingys because they really startle me. I will definetely tone it down next time! Sorry!

The screamers are not as bad as the "buggy bangers" who like to knock on each other's doombuggies (and yours too if you happen to be in front of them)

That's what I love about the Dis boards...sometimes it just takes discussion to make someone aware of something from another's perspectives on things...
I think that is very mature and sweet of you to think about it for the next time...and no matter how many times I've gone on HM, the pop up things startle me too!

It actually really upsets me as well My one dd will not even go near there now and it was all due to the screaming by a group!!! I also have teens, (oldest will be 18 next week) and believe me I would not be happy if they acted like this! Like a PP said, I can understand maybe one or two but please do not ruin the enitre ride, screaming the entire way through it!

Once you start hearing annoying screaming in the stretching room...get to the back of the group, and get in one of the last doom buggies so that you get as much space as possible between you and the AST (annoying screaming teens).

we happened to be on the second doom buggy, the one in front of us was one guy, and we did not hear a lot of screaming- we heard only the story/music and the only scream I heard was my own, really a shreik, when the at the end, (we were first timers) when we had an unexpected rider with us!

Okay, I'll admit that there have been times in the past that I've egged my sister on to do her blodd curtling screams in HM...but she would do it once and that was it.

The only time I get annoyed with it is whenever someone KEEPS ON DOING IT! That is truly aggrivating and not funny.

My dad used to ride in the buggy behind us and reach out and make scratching sounds on the buggy....oohh...you wanna hear someone scream?!

Ohmigosh, sometimes those are the scariest!

The BEST CM I've ever seen there was the one who was walking like a zombie at the end of the ride...really freaked me out.

The first time we had terrible screamers was last Dec. It was awful, My DD who was 6 at the time had gone HM since she was little but she was scared to the point of crying and for this Dec. trip she has said she will not try it again she remembers it that well. This also happened on stitch. We were with a large group of Pop Warner girls. This was DD favorite ride(yes I know she is the only one but, she loves the TV show). The girls screams had her in tears again and we won't be revisiting that one again this Dec.

I do understand an occaional scream as things pop out or for first timers but it really detracts from the ride for others when people scream just to scream. What is someone gaining by doing that and they are really making the ride quite unenjoyable for the rest.

Screamers please think of others before you let loose.
