Screaming on the Haunted Mansion

Just wanted to pipe in that my 6 year old son will no longer ride HM because of a few teenage boys that screamed all the way through the ride this past May. My son was so upset that it took me 10 minutes to calm him down afterwards....My son rode this ride 3 times the previous year and once during this trip and was fine, but after the screaming he will not ride it anymore...

I Totally Agree! Those sentences were just what I needed! Another code broken. IMO, ITA with the OP and all the PP that :scared1: in the HM at MK while you are at WDW with your DH and DD and DMIL on the DDP is totally unnecessary- save it for EE or ToT. :thumbsup2

This is what bothers me the most about the screamers. There were a couple of screamers on the ride one of the times I went on it last month, and I whispered quietly to my sister, "What a bunch of [expletive] teens, ruining the ride for the kids."
Now, I don't have kids yet, but I'd be soooo p.o.'d if some jerks ruined the ride for my kids if/when I took them on it. I'd probably hunt down the teens and slip a laxative into their soda when they weren't looking. J/j! But I would be very upset.

I really don't get this screaming thing. Unless you are truly scared, there is no need for it. TOT and the rollercoasters, then it's understandable. I can only immagine a few spots in HM where screaming would be called for.

And that's what gets me. Even when my Mom wasn't with me, I was afraid she'd find out (because she ALWAYS did).
:rotfl: How true. No matter how secretive you thought you were being, mom would always find out.

One of the last times I was on HM it was during this time of year. We were the first group to go through that morning so there was about 10 people in the stretching room. These two teen girls were standing facing each other. The CM stood behind one of them staring at the back of the girls head. When the lights turned on the girl facing him just stood still. So the other girl turned around, saw the CM, and shrieked! It was pretty funny. Now that kind of screaming is ok.

I think they should hand you a pipe that blows out darts on this ride. The darts are dipped in a toxin called PIPE DOWN OR PASS OUT. And you just blow a dart at anyone who's screaming like they're imagining a centipede crawling up their pants.

i dont constantly scream but i scream when those pop-up thins pop up right by your seat and thats about it

and teenagers dont scream coz their scrared they dont even think about others on the ride and they dont scream to mock something(unless they fake scream and say something i a sarcastic tone after) it is a well known fact we scream for fun

Like everyone else, I don't like the constant screamers that scream just to hear themselves. What has been even worse on this ride are the people that think it is the place to get rid of all their gas!!! A couple of times we have gone through the HM in a haze - the first time this happened my son asked me why they put the farting in the HM because he didn't find that part scary, just gross and that it smelled like the time we drove by the pig farm!

thank you for saying the grossest thing I'll hear today

Thankfully I have not encoutered this on HM, but hubby did get stuck beside to guys...mid-late teens...on ToT once that thought it would be funny to scream from the time the ride started...I mean screaming non-stop. Everyone was turning around shooting them dirty looks. Finally at the part where you move forward, hubby looked at them and said, "If you don't stop acting like a b**** and screaming in my hear, I will beat your a** when this ride stops!" I was shocked because that is VERY unlike him, but the rest of the car applauded him and the boys shut up. :rotfl:

:sad2: Please tell me that there are other people completely annoyed by this.. You're trying to enjoy the Haunted Mansion and there are people who won't stop screaming. I am not talking about 1-2 screams because they are scared..I am talking about obnoxious screeching throughout the entire ride just to be ridiculous. Today this happened to us and it's not the first time. I couldn't enjoy the ride and got off with a huge headache. I was also quite grumpy. Has this happened to anyone?
Only on Halloween night every year, LOL I probably go on that ride few times a month and I really do not hear much screaming!

Thats never happend to me but it does sound annoying, personally I don't get screaming on anything, I love the tallest most crazy coasters, but I never scream on anything, don't see the point, I guess its a girl thing, but yeah excesssive screaming on HM would me overly annoying I totally agree, thats kinda like screaming in its a small world HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is screaming fun, and the gas thing is just disgusting, I was never that immature, even when I was 14. That ridiculous. Screaming is not "funny" at all people.

ITA was the one that I could not figure out until now either. Thank you. :lmao: I thought I was the only one who didn't know.

It is a ride-have fun. We went on HM during the MNSSHP and had a blast. We only howled and screamed when appropriate. Enjoy the experience!

Try explaining that to a terrified child.

On our last trip to Disney in August we went on Splash Mountain. In the same "Log" as us were 2 younger teenage boys who were screaming at the top of their lungs and trying to stand up on the ride! they wouldnt stop, we asked them 3 times to be quiet and they continued to scream, like a blood curdling scream. They suddenly stopped screaming about halfway through the ride when one of them lost their "authentic" baseball cap. It just flew off his head! I didnt know what team it was but they got really quiet after that. I felt bad the kid lost his hat, but he was trying to stand up and he was really obnoxious, but for the rest of the ride, you didnt hear any sounds coming from either of them.

There isn't much I get upset about in WDW, but this one drives me crazy.

One of my teenage sons is really frightened by spirits (ghosts), but I mean almost phobia of this sort of thing. He had decided to go on HM to try to conquer this fear. He talked himself into it saying it's disney. He planned this for a while and watched a show explaining how they do alot of the effect for HM. Finally the day comes we all enter the stretching room, myself, dh, ds 14,ds14,dd14 and dd2 (ages at the time). Ds with fear is doing okay. Very close to me, but okay. the lights flash with the thunder noise and some older teenagers start making horror noises and screaming VERY loudly! My poor ds. I looked at him and tears were starting. I just hugged him. When we started to be ushered into the next area some women (very nice) turned and said how amazed she was that my dd2 did so well especially with those rude kids. She went on to say how much that frightened her. I don't know if she saw my son and was trying to comfort him or not, but she did. I smiled and mentioned how most people are afraid of something. He hasn't tried it again since. He claims he doesn't mind the ride itself, but hates the stretching hallway. I wonder if this is why.
