Scream Team at YC/BC--EDITED 1/7/08 POST 1

Maybe we can hop on an EPCOT bus outside of the Y&B club in order to get there faster? That puts us not too far from the finish line... and the buses have a clearer route than the cars do... We did this last year from MGM... and it worked out great. Sooooo... that 's an idea..

Kathy--Unless something has changed pretty recently, there is not a bus to Epcot from any of the Epcot resorts. You are expected to walk through the International Gateway/World Showcase to get to the front of the park.

Mel--I could definitely handle a Kitchen Sink after the marathon and I'm not even running it!

I am getting really excited about everything--volunteering, scream teaming, and seeing everyone. I may stop running and just cheer at marathons!

A very BIG Thank You to everyone that will be out there Scream Teaming!!! I am so looking forward to seeing you all out there on the course. I know it will really help keep me moving forward knowing that you will all be there. Like Judy said....last year we had a GREAT time cheering for the full. Being part of the Scream Team is an amazing experience. I enjoyed it last year just as much as I did participating in the the half. I'm looking forward to cheering for the half this year.

A GREAT BIG THANK-YOU TO ALL THE SCREAM TEAM PEOPLE!!!

Thank-you so much in advance for doing what you do. This will be my first full marathon and I am so hoping I get to see you. I know if I can make it to Mile 24, I will finish. Just knowing that there is someone down the road waiting to cheer me on makes a world of difference. Please forgive me if I turn into a blubbering crybaby when I see you....I'm sensitive like that. Again, a huge thank-you from the bottom of my heart!

I am not doing the half, so Saturday you will find me manning a little (very little) Scream Station of my own just behind the Poly. I plan to wait until the last WISHer goes by and then head over to the finishline and catch some of you again. BTW, if anyone has extra cowbells and can bring them to the dinner at the Pop, I will gladly reimburse you. I checked 2 Targets in raleigh and neither one had them.

Dana - I couldn't have said it better. In my daily life no one would ever accuse me of being an emotional, touchy-feely type. Something takes over me at the WDW Marathon and I bawl all weekend . I already have my inhaler packed .

Karen - I still have the pic you took of me at YC/BC last year and it is my favorite one .

I know my family will be with you guys at YC/BC for the full but thank you to all of the others out there wherever you are scream teaming on the course. It REALLY means the world to me .

On a more general note. Thank you, everyone, for scream teaming. We did this for the full marathoners after our first WDW 1/2 marathon in 2006 and I had the absolute best time! Last year, screaming for the 1/2 marathoners was WAYYYY more fun than actually doing the full! LOL!! It really does take a lot of energy and patience for you guys to stand out there for the full and I know that knowing you are there will keep me moving forward. Love you ALL!!! Mean It!

You know I love you Cam!! I just mean ice princess in my professional finance management life I also can't WAIT to cheer for the 1/2 marathoners on Main Street in MK and at EPCOT. DH isn't running it this year so it'll be me and Colleen (princessmomma/Theta) screaming.

Woohoo, Sarah!! It will be so awesome to see you there! I have the fondest memories of you and the girls in their great tee-shirts, on Main Street last year. The only sad thing for this year is that the Christmas decorations will be down. I remember walking into the MK last year in the dark and seeing the tree and then the castle all lit up and just bawling like a baby! And I was so excited to see you and the girls and to take pics of you guys!

Oh, this is going to be so much fun!!!!

Susie -- Rhonda and I were nearly the very last finishers last year (due to my fall and pace-slowing injuries) and the WISHers were still there in full force at mile 24. AND when we got to the FINISH, so many of them had waited there for us. I was hysterical crying, saying "I can't believe you guys waited for us. I love you!" It was MUCH more emotional and meaningful to me than the moment someone put that medal around my neck. I will NEVER EVER forget how much all that support along the course meant to me. I STILL remember Anne's smiling face somewhere out near mile 12 -- she was so worried about me -- "poor Cam, what happened to your legs? Do you need anything? Are you okay?" I'm not sure I showed her the appreciation I felt for her right then -- I was trying to stay hyper-focused on getting to the end.
Believe me -- the WISH team's outrageously HUGE support and enthusiasm will propel you to the FINISH! You can thank them all Monday morning at the Boardwalk Bakery gathering.

between this and Craig's thread about the marathon experience, i don't know how anyone can keep a dry eye.

i printed the list of where everyone will be. starting from the wonderful Mile 2 Water Support to the YC/BC. I'll just be running from one WISH group to the next. Much more fun counting the WISH 'markers' than the other scary mile ones LOL

Anne I saw you mention you'll have my favorite hat on hand!!! You know I'll be keeping my eyes peeled

I can't wait to Scream Team for the Half this year and I just LOVE you all for standing out there waiting for us to come thru.

I keep thinking I'd rather run the half with DD's bib and cheer for the full than run the full. It was sooo much fun last year! We got there about 5 minutes before Christa went by and stayed until we saw the sweeper bikes close the race. I will certainly be looking forward to seeing all of you there this weekend...that may be the only thing that keeps me going past mile 20 (only 4 more miles to the WISH team...4 more miles to the WISH team).

We were able to get a room today for Sunday night at the Boardwalk, so I will be Screaming with the WISHers at the YC/BC! I am so excited to have the chance to do this! I will be there with my 2 boys (6 and 4) and lots of things to keep them busy so we can cheer for a while.

We should get there around 9:00, but will only be able to stay for a little while so we do not miss DH at the finish. But, then we will be back to cheer some more (hopefully we will be able to check into the Boardwalk early, otherwise we have to go back to the Contemp for DH to shower (quickly!!)

Since I will not be at any of the other WISH events, and I have not posted as much as I should and I don't have a WISH shirt, you will probably not recgonize me, but here is picture of my boys, so you might at least recognize them

We will see you Sunday morning, I need to see if my Target has any cowbells left, I am sure my boys will LOVE to make a bunch of noise with those!!

Judy--What time is your DH planning on finishing? Maybe we can rush to the finish together!

But would it be better if maybe I tried to scream team somewhere besides the BC area? I would love to be in the big group with all the WISHers. In thinking in terms of what our Full teammates need though - would it be better to have some of us in other places near the finish?

For example, maybe I should try to get to just outside the MGM entrance or something (I won't have a park ticket this trip). That way I can give 'em a little boost on their way to the big group of scream teamers over at the BC. (besides, they aren't going to want me to park at the BC )

I dunno. I don't want to be anti-social, I was just thinking about what would be better for our WISHers during the Full.

Kristi, last year my DD Erin didn't have a park ticket and she cheered for me at AK near the bus drop off, at MGM by the front entrance, and at the finish - all using WDW transportation. There were a quite a few people at the MGM entrance, BUT very very few of them were cheering - it was mostly people making their way into the park. After volunteering at Stop #2 DH plans to cheer at AK, MGM and the finish. Of course, I am s-l-o-w, so he will have plenty of time to get to all those places. I know a WISH scream team outside of MGM would be awesome.

I agree with Pat. I was just posting on the weekly thread that the stretch from AK to MGM nearly finished me off last year. Very, very rough. It would be so amazing NOT to have to wait until Y/BC for a WISH team fix, but I hate to be so selfish. We will be so grateful for any smile we see anywhere!
