How do y’all deal with the scratchy factor with the princess dresses in the parks? At home she wears a t-shirt under them but I was hoping for a less obvious solution.
Could a cami help or a tank top help? Would be less obvious but may also be good for if she decides she doesn’t to wear it anymore and you need to take it off.
I’ve been looking at the dresses made out of not scratchy material. Having trouble picking a company to try out though.
I buy etsy dresses, much less scratchy as well as made in the US instead of China.
In addition to costume dresses, they have cute, comfy everyday dresses with princess patterns.
Thanks but she already has a closet full of the Disney dresses (Lookat the right side of the picture. That’s about half of them!). I really don’t want to spend more. I’m going to look into cami tops.
Our daughter wore regular less comfortable dresses. We let her wear them for a bit and if/when they got uncomfortable we would take a bathroom break and change her.
If she's the type to "tough it out" cami tops are probably your best bet.
Our go to is Only Little Once or Trish Scully for fancy dresses and Presley Couture or Jane for the comfy princess style play dresses.
Even when my little girl wears a fancy dress, we always bring back up clothes because nothing spoils a day like a kiddo in uncomfortable clothes (understandably).
We buy dresses from Little Dress Up Shop. They're not scratchy, less hot, and much easier to clean (machine washable) and easier to go to the bathroom in. My daughter loved the play dresses they sell even as she got older but all of their styles are nice.
We tried taking a poofy, scratchy dress to the parks one day when she was 4 and it did not last the whole day so bring back up clothes if you stick with those dresses just in case.
There used to be a company called “Mom Approved “ costumes, I think.
For the dresses you already own, could bias tape help? If you can cover the seams, that should get rid of at least some of the itchy factor, without adding layers.
I know you aren't looking to spend more on dresses but for anyone else looking (or for yourself in the future), we only buy dresses from Only Little Once now! HIGHLY recommend. My 4 year old with sensory sensitivities wore one of her OLO dresses for 12 hours at Disney.
When is your trip? If it's during a hot month I'd find spaghetti strap dresses(target, Old Navy)sell them pretty cheap. If your little one gets warm it's easy to take it off without having to run to a restroom. Our girls lasted about 3 hours a day in theirs.
Have a great trip, your daughter looks adorable in her dress!
I just read my post, I meant wear spaghetti strap dresses under the princess dress!! The cotton ones are cool and comfortable and will help with the scratchiness of the other dresses!
