Day 7
Feb 19th
Today Mum and Dad were visiting friends so we asked the boys if they wanted to go to a park or what.
They decided they wanted to go out for breakfast then chill out for the day. We went to Golden Corral which had been recommended here. It was very good but not as cheap as some other breakfasts. I think we will try dinner there another time as it looks good.
Afterwards went to Wal Mart, then Downtown Disney as DH didnt get here the other day.
Spent the rest of the day by the pool. For dinner we went to a chinese place near the Crossroads NY China Buffet I think. It was very good and not expensive but when we first went in it looked a bit like a school dinner hall!! I would go back for the food though. I was a bit annoyed at a bunch of late teen, early 20 locals though ( at least they sounded like locals from what they were saying), they kept getting huge platefuls of food and not eating ¼ of it then going up for more. This is such a waste and will result in this type of place putting prices up to compensate.
When we got back Mum and Dad were just in. They had had a good day too, in Winter Park, where their friends live.
Day 8
20th Feb
Magic Kingdom
Got the ferry over this time. Chip and Dale were on board with us. It was very busy all over. The characters were out in force. The Queen from snow white made us bow and curtsey to her and DS had a snow white pin on and she made him take it off before she would have her photo taken!! DS 2 had a harry potter t shirt on and she had a go at him about that too she said that she was a Slytherin and she supposed that he thought he was a Gryffindor. Its at times like that that I wished I was good at witty comments to throw back at her.
We did a few rides and saw some more characters then it was time for our PS at Crystal Palace. The lunch here is fantastic as was the interaction although I had told them it was DS birthday treat and they didnt do anything which was disappointing as the girl at the next table got a card and the characters made a big fuss.
It was so busy we left after lunch then went to change the 2 cars for 1 van to drive down to Miami the next day. This took about an hour. DM and 2DS stayed by the pool at Vistana, we joined them before heading over to EPCOT for Illuminations and TON as this finishes at the end of the month. We got a superb place for Illuminations, between UK and France. I wouldnt have wanted to be on the pontoons that night though as the smoke drifted right over them, we just missed it. I still think the fireworks show in 96, on our 1st visit, was better than this one. JMHO.
Day 9
21st Feb
Early start, we were going to have lunch with more friends of my parents on the way to Miami. They live in this gated community where you have to be over 55 to live. It was quite bizarre. We had an enjoyable lunch in the clubhouse and a swim in the pool, they showed us round, there were all kinds of activities and gym classes, organised trips and shows. Everyone we spoke to seemed to love it, they had all retired to Florida from all over the country. It was a bit like a constant holiday camp. They did say there were people who lived in their house and never went near the clubhouse, so I suppose you just mix as much as you want to.
After lunch the traffic started to get heavier, we got to our hotel at 4.30pm, left DM DD 2DS with the luggage and went to return the car. This took us 3 hours for 1 reason or another. By which time Mum and Dad were panicing.
We then went out to dinner on South Beach, a stretch limo came for us, and took us back. Unfortunately we were all too tired to look around the area while we were there.
