Scotty from Star Trek battling Alzheimer's

He always help hold it together, always was able to provide that warp speed they needed. Sad.

Jeff and I were just talking about this.... It makes me sad..We are big Star Trek fans here!

I am sadden by this news. I had read last year that he was retiring from the convention circuit. I thought that he was just was going to enjoy retirement life.

That's really sad news. :(

We saw him four years ago at a Cirque Du Soliel show here in Seattle. He was with his son, wife, and newborn. His health seemed really shakey at that point and we were suprised, he needed help to get around and just didn't look very good.

Our friend was so impressed that he'd had a baby at 80 though he quickly became his hero (our friend is in his 50's and was feeling old at that point!) he ran through the parking lot to get a better view of him - it was rather funny!

We were just thrilled to see Scotty! :space:

Big Star Trek fan here too.

Sad news but a really nicely written article. Very upbeat with a touch of humor........sometimes that's what gets a person through the rough spots.....

thanks for the link to the article. :)

Very sad indeed. Jimmy is one of the good ones. Always caring and lots of fun on the convention circuit.

Guess it makes me feel my age when the stars of the show I watched in my childhood (first run) are showing their age. We've already lost Gene and DeForrest. My guess is that Jimmy would be the next to go.

A fine gentleman.

I've been a Trek fan since it originally aired (I was 7), and was lucky enough to meet Mr. Doohan many times at conventions and his college talks. What a warm, intelligent and alive person he is.

So sad to hear this news.

BTW, "Bones" was Dr. McCoy.

Robin "Bones" was the doctor "darnit";) I'm sorry to hear about Scotty. Those guys were all so great on Star Trek.

so sad

by the way I just want to say that no one ever actually said "Beam me up Scotty". The closest thing that was said was "1 or 2 or 3 etc to beam up Mr. Scott."

That makes us feel sad-and old. The original Star Trek is my DH's favorite. He can tell in the first 30 seconds of a show exactly which one it is. :space:
