how stupid would i look if i got a scotter. or whell chair. I have the problem sin my legs and feet excpicaly since a few years ago when i sprang both at same time. I had to use a wheel chair in disney world i hated it and dont want to but every day my legs and feet are giving me troubel. im only 23..i hate the filling i get from every one around me. I mean I would get out to get pics with charcters with my son and stuff. I can wlk but after 20mins-45mins i fill like my ankels are gona give out on me. Ive read a post about a dad useing a scooter and not wanting to and then i think maybe id do it..but i hate to i hate that every one looks at me like i dont need it..i mean heck i dont even walk to movies store becouse how much i hurt latelt..and doc says nothings wrong and **** with me.. he seems like he dosent care at all and thinks im just mking up excuses to come in.

This is a bit off topic but I would suggest you see a specialist about your ankles.

I blew out a knee (dislocated the kneecap, tore some ligaments, and fractured the tibulite (tip of the tibula)) in high school playing football. Anyways, I did not rehab it right and as a result a few years later I ruined my other knee. Now the only thing I can do to repair them is replacement surgery where they remove the cartlidge and put in some rubberized stuff or something. I can't run, can't kneel for more than 60 seconds or so, etc.

Not a week goes by where I don't wish I had completed the rehab and listened to my doctor.

So, in short... I would ask for a referral to a specialist and have them look at your ankles and run some tests.

ive been thinkingabout that too..but i think im scared .it seesm to late since its been a year in a half..i was fine when i was on 900mg pain killer but i stoped taking them when they expired and then slowly slowy my legs hurt more and more as i walked and its like from my ankel all the way up my knee
but yes ty i am planing on getting seen

If you need it to get around and enjoy your visit, then you should, and don't worry about what anyone else say or thinks.

My sister looks fine, but she has a metal bar fused in her back so she rides a scotter....

Its your vacation, do what you need to do to enjoy it.

my suggestion is get the scooter over the wheel chair though so no one has to push you.

i was fine when i was on 900mg pain killer

Well that's the thing. You weren't fine, you just coudln't feel the damage that you were continuing to do. :(

Get another doctor, go see a specialist, take CARE of your legs and feet.

And if possible, I would highly recommend finding an acupuncturist and even a chiropractor, b/c they can quite often help a great deal with joint problems (even if they never touch the joint in question). Plus, I'm sure you're walking abnormally with all that pain, and that's going to cause spinal issues and make everything so much worse.

So anyway, back to your actual concerns. If you need one, get one. Period. Don't look at other people; insulate yourself if you think others will be giving you nasty looks or judging you. Plus, you can't tell what osmeone is thinking by the look on their face. Some people have difficult to read faces. My face almost always, even if I have a HUGE grin on my face, looks like I'm in a bad mood. My mom's was the same, my aunt's is worse, even my grandma looks like she's miffed in pictures. I could be thinking "what a great idea, and I feel so bad for that young person in a wheelchair, I hope the problem is temporary or they arent' in too much pain", and it COULD look like I'm thinking the worst thoughts. So just don't look at people, focus on you and your son.

And definitely get the ECV not the wheelchair, so you can control your "vehicle" and not rely on others (especially if they aren't used to pushing you...I hear that wheelchairs are heavy to push!) to get around.

Two years ago my husband and I went to the park and I had just had my spine fused and a broken back 6 weeks previous. I tried walking around the park but after the first 3 hours I had enough. So the next day my husband rented me an electronic scooter and it was the best thing ever! I highly recommend it. We are taking our kids next November as a suprise and I am not planning on needing one but if I do you bet I will get one.

By the way everyone is to busy having fun to worry about who is on scooters. Good luck have Fun!

thanks guys.. um do any one here know if he evcs at dl and ca. are tranforbuel. Like do i drive it out dl to ca or get one at ca?
Also would i park them where the strollers are when going in a ride. and do i use it in line..where would i leave it if long line (i dont know everything just questions and i havent even talked to my fionce yet..i said i was gona try not to use wheel chair this time but my legs lately..

ty for all the advice

you can go back and forth between the parks but they will not let you go out the check points with it, so you can't take it to DTD.

In DL mostly you would go up the exit and they tell you were to park it, in DCA you get in the normal lines and they will guide you on were you need to go. Make sure you party goes with you so you can ride together.

ok and if i were to rent one from a company there. would i be abel to ride the monrail from dlh (and dose dlh have a place to take them in.

Gotta agree about seeing a doctor, that's a long time to still be having that much problems.

But if you need it at DL you need it! I wouldn't worry about it.
