Hi:
We will be at Fort Wilderness in a couple weeks and wondered if I should bother packing my kids scooters or skates. We will not have a vehicle while in Fl and bike rentals are too expensive for the week. Any input by experienced campers would be greatly appreciated. :)

I was looking in the Fort Wilderness Gazette and it states: that Florida Law does not permit in-line skating on roadways or parking lots. In-line skating is only allowed on the exercise trails. We brought my 5year old kick scooter but he only used it once. For him it was to much work and to HOT, this was in July though .:D Hope this helps

I would take them for fun, but I wouldn't think they'd be useful for transportation.

We were there last month and people were in line skating and using skooters too. The motorized ones and no one said anything to them.
My son brought his skateboard with him and the only thing they said to him was not to skate around the pool area with it. (He had skateboarded up with us while we rode our bikes and then carried it when he got to the pool area.) The lifeguard was the one that told him that when he saw him carry it.

We saw skates, scooters (both motorized and foot powered) golf carts of all kinds, and mopeds. We were surprised at the variety. We even saw gas powered scooters. I didn't think they would allow those.

When we went in July my kids brought their skates, but i wouldn't let them use them because I was afraid they would get in trouble. Now I wish I would of let them enjoy using them.
