Hi
I hurt my knee last week and am taking medicine, but it still hurts. I didn't want to cancel my trip, and don't know if I'll be able to do all the walking. If I do get a scooter, are they hard to learn how to handle? How do you go about getting on the bus with it? How about riding the monorail? I'm pretty nervous about this, since I'll be with my DD and DGD, and my DD knows nothing about them either. I can't believe this happened after planning this trip for so long.

The monorails are simple, they have a ramp they manually place so you can drive right on. There are several styles of busses, both lifts and ramps. Most busses, though, hold a maximum of 2 wheelchairs or scooters (ECVs).

I suggest you visit WalmMrt or a gocery store prior to your trip that has ECVs for use by disabled customers and practice on one for awhile to get used to it. It won't be exactly the same as a model you may get at Disney or an offsite place, but will be similar, like changing from one type of automobile to another.

If you haven't already, you might want to check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is information about the buses on that thread.
