Scooter protection in the rain

What do you all do to protect your scooter's controls when it rains while riding? And what do you take with you to cover the entire scooter with if you leave it outside to go into a restaurant or ride?

When we've rented in the past, the scooter company has provided a little plastic cover for the controls. It basically appears to be a clear, plastic shower cap.

I don't ever cover the whole scooter, I just take a small towel with me to wipe off the seat (or to cover the seat if we leave the scooter in the sun and the vinyl seat gets too hot).

I bring plastic shopping bags to cover the controls and drape a poncho over the seat

when it starts raining if we are on a scooter. You may be in the rain for a few minutes, but it's not that long if you go to somewhere dry to wait the rain out. I pay attention to forecasts each day and I look at the sky for any signs of rain like it's getting darker outside or windier and so forth.

When we are off the scooter for a while we fold down the back of the seat over the chair part. Often time we find a place to park the scooter somewhere with a roof over it. The shower cap or plastic bag work fine. Ponchos are good, too.

You do not want to ride over rain puddles; the underside of the scooter has electrical components, too.

We keep several plastic ponchos (the 88 cent kind) in the back-of-the seat pocket of the ECV. They're not for me. They're for the ECV!

We also get the dollar store ponchos. One for me and one for my scooter! they are small enough to carry in my purse. I also fold the back of chair down in all weather as it not only protects the seat from the elements, it also prevents other people from sitting in my chair.
