I'm thinking of canceling my Sci Fi ressie and switching to Boma for dinner. DH is a VERY picky eater and I'm scared he won't enjoy anything and I really don't want to hear "You made me eat FuFu" all week. He's a meat and potatoes kind of guy, but I would love to try it. Anybody care to offer up their opinions on Boma and whether they think there might be something for DH.

TIA

oh I love Boma. There are meat, fish, chicken choices at the buffet. different salads. several different soups. mini desserts. there's a child section so feel free to pick from there. The flavors are very good--not overwhelming, not spicy, just delicious. nice quality.

I generally find that really picky eaters don't like it. Even the safe selections (the meats, soups etc) have unique flavors that the non-adventurous may not appreciate. That said, it's all QUITE delicious and one of our favorites. This from a mostly picky eater!

I have picky eaters in my family and they all love Boma. We visit there atleast once a trip.

Boma is hands down better than Sci Fi, but if you have someone that wants burgers and fries, then no sense going to Boma! My DD still talks about the delicious mashed potatoes (she is a picky eater for sure) and there is a meat carving station, and incredible desserts. My kids are not exactly adventurous eaters like their parents yet but they loved it. Sci Fi is diner-type fare.

My husband is also a picky eater, and loves the Dinner Buffet at Boma. There are lots of meat and potato type of dishes there, and simple food as well. It is great for us as I like to be daring and try new things, and he stays safe and simple. And I admit I much prefer Boma over Sci-Fy diner. Sci-Fy was good, but not entirely memorable food wise for me.

Personally, I'm not impressed by either of these restaurants, but that is just my opinion. I know a lot of people rave about them both, but I've had so many better meals than either of those places in Disney.

Boma, for sure over Sci-fi ::yes:: We have gone every trip and never had a bad experience there - love, love the food.

Honestly, for a picky eater, I'd choose Sci Fi.

They are a little heavy handed with some of the spices at Boma.

Not much plain old meat & potatoes there.

I've eaten at Boma twice and saw something really weird both times. It seemed like when the waitpeople cleared plates from tables, there were many many full plates being taken away.

The salad bar is good, and there's a soup or two that are good. They used to have a prime rib station and the line was always LONGGGGG at that, because it was the most normal food there.

A lot of the food tastes good on the first or second bite, but you quickly tire of it.

If you take your picky hubby to Boma, I bet he spends most of his time at the kids section.

Boma is much better than Sci-Fi, in my opinion. There are tons of options, even my picky kids love it there.

Sci-Fi for sure. Yes, there are carving stations at Boma and whatnot but that alone doesn't make for a satisfying meal. I'm much more adventurous than DH and while I could see that the dishes weren't that complex, a picky eater may not see it that way. Hence the fact that we've never returned to Boma. ;)

My picky Meat & Potatoes hubby loves Boma's. There are plenty of choices for unadventurous eaters. We skipped Boma's on our September trip in favor of a signature restaurant (Narcoossee's), but we will return again.
My parents and aunt and uncle ate there in September. My Dad & Uncle are picky eaters, but they found foods they liked and enjoyed the meal.

We like Sci Fi too & did eat there in September.

That's a tough call. Sci-Fi is definitely a safe bet, as we enjoy their burgers and shrimp pasta dishes. We go every year. The last 2 years, we have tried Boma. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. While I really did enjoy Boma, and thought it was good, especially their unique desserts. we are not going back this year, as it wasn't a "must do" for us. If you want to try something new, Boma is definitely the one to try, as it isn't overly spicey and there are some things for everyone, not everything is. I would make it a judgement call on yourself.

I would pick Sci-Fi if DH is a picky eater. I loved Boma but my kids and husband did not. DS isn't really a picky eater but doesn't want to return. DD & DH picky eaters of the bunch do not want to return and did not feel there was enough to eat on the buffet for their tastes.

I felt there was enough but they did not.

I would return to Boma for Dinner in a flash!

I will have to vote for Boma the food is fantastic not spicy at all, and before dinner explore the lodge and check out the animals its an experiance not to be missed:cool1:

We were very pleased with our first time trip to Boma last week. We found the meat and potatoes to be pretty "normal". Sure, there were a few things that were different, but nothing crazy. We enjoyed it.

There's no comparison...Boma is FABULOUS. sci-fi is fun,as an experience, but that's it. Boma also has plenty of ordinary food, your dh won't be hungry. It's our fave WDW restaurant!

Not even a question, Boma hands down. I have 3 picky ones in my family and they all love Boma. Sci Fi is just okay and can eat anywhere!

Definitely try Boma. The sci-fi food is unimpressive, bland, and overpriced. There are unique items at Boma, but they also have lots of meat options like a carved roast and chicken breasts and some plain options for less adventurous eaters.
