So, I was all set for a Brown Derby visit, but the menu changed and the things I wanted went away... oh well..no big deal. I haven't had a table service meal at Hollywood Studios in a long while, other than Mama Melrose. I'm looking to try something different. It has been ages since I've been to either Sci Fi or 50's Prime Time.
I'd love to hear your feedback on recent experiences. I'd prefer a relaxing meal that isn't overly chaotic. I don't mind the tv's...movie screens. I know my family won't want a whole lot of nit picking from the server at 50's, but I believe they accommodate. And at Sci-Fi is it hard to see your food? I want to see my food. ;)
Ready, set, GO!

I'd definitely go with Sci Fi, not only is the food better, but it seems to be less chaotic than 50's. I don't know how it is now with pandemic but I would go to 50's and there'd always be something going on with another table, so even if your table isn't being "picked on" by your wait staff, another table might be. I don't mind it but you didn't want chaotic! I never have had an issue with being able to see my food at Sci Fi.

I didn't have any problems seeing my food at SciFi. It was a little different having to turn to the side to see the rest of my family, but it was still fun!

My Family loves 50's. For us, the food, schtick, etc. are great, but I wouldn't call it chaotic, just good natured fun. We are trying Sci-Fi for the first time this June, so I guess we'll be able to compare then.

Food is better at 50s. Not overly exciting but solid comfort fare.
Atmosphere is better at SciFi with the cool, dark interior and funny movie clips.

It is very hard to see food at SciFi. I have perfect vision and still had to bust out my phone flashlight to see my mediocre food. Neither are chaotic.

I’d keep brown derby! The food is so much better there and it is the only one of the three that fits the bill of a calm quiet meal.
Would have loved to, but the menu changed and with a dairy allergy my options are a lot more limited there. I'm really not feeling the exotic mushroom dish. I like mushrooms, but that particular one isn't appealing to me.

All disney restaurants have allergy friendly menus for common allergies, including milk/dairy. You just need to ask when you arrive at the restaurant. You will have plenty of options.

Yes, we have done that many times and they can also be viewed online, or in the mde app. That's how I know which places have more options.

I don’t think that’a correct. They list online what common allergies are compatible with each entree, but then they also had menus at the restaurant targeted to specific allergies with variations on the dishes, at least that was true when we visited with a guest with allergies in 2019.

We prefer 50's Prime Time Cafe. I know it's completely subjective, but on a personal level I like the food better (as well as being able to see what I'm eating clearly) I like the decor better. I also just think that (provided you get an interactive server) the experience is more memorable at Prime Time.

Love 50's PTC, it's a standard whenever we go. HOWEVER, we have never had luck getting a resi at SciFi, and we'd like to try it out. I even tried moving a park reservation in order to snag an available lunch reservation there, but by then HS reservations for that day were full. I'll keep trying, hoping for something to free up last minute. Honestly, Oga's Cantina was easier to get than Sci Fi.

I don't like the shenanigans so I vote Sci Fi. i like the turkey club better than the burgers, though. Some love the whole interactive role play thing at 50's, while I was the one who never wanted to be asked to join in the role play at the dinner theater comedies. But I agree, Sci Fi is hard to come by. Also, I was born in the fifties, but unless people under 20 watch old TV shows, some of Prime Time they will totally not get. We managed to get a Sci Fi ressie for this June, maybe my old eyes won't enjoy it as much as previously!
