Where should we eat - Sci-Fi or 50's Prime Time ?

Both have had good & bad reviews.

We are a bit picky on our food - not too many sauces, DH likes salads

Please help us decide.

Hands down, my favorite is the 50's Primetime Cafe. :thumbsup2 I've always had great food and service there. As a picky eater myself, have always been very happy there. This is a must-dine for me on every trip!

Sci-Fi was ok, but was not real thrilled with the food.

Terk-1 Thanks!
We were leaning towards 50 PT - just needed a push...

DH will like Caesar Salad with Chicken

DS & DW will order Golden Fried Chicken

DD will most likely get Chicken Nuggets or Mom's Elbow Macaroni and Cheese

DS just does not like to be joked with. I hope our Aunt or Cousin does not mind. :rotfl:

Another vote for the 50's! We did Sci-Fi in 2004 with my DH, DS, dad and his wife...I wasn't that impressed. We got a car which was cool for DS, but my dad and the wife were sitting behind us making it difficult to chat. I'm not that much of a picky eater but the food wasn't outstanding in my book. We did 50's in 2000 and LOVED it! Our waitress was soooo cute with DH making him leave to go wash his hands and giving him a sticker as a part of the "clean plate club". It was awesome!

Both are unique which make them interesting...we're doing 50's again on our next trip!

The food is better at 50's PT. I love that PB&J milkshake. :cool1: The food at Sci-Fi is just so-so. If you order the fried chicken sandwich there, ask for extra water because it is DRY!

PTC hands down. Wonderful selection, you can see your food, and the southern-style selections are very tasty...this coming from someone who lives two miles away from a restaurant voted the best fried chicken in the South by Southern Living!

We love both but if I could only do one it would be the Sci-Fi. It is best to stay with the burgers/shakes but the restaurant is soo fun.

We love them both. Our kids much prefer Sci Fi but the adults liked 50's PT better. Food was better at 50's PT, but the atmosphere at Sci Fi is so cool. If you can do both - Sci Fi for lunch, and 50's for dinner!

We did the Sci-Fi for lunch, 50's for dinner and if your lunch is early enough and your dinner not right at 5 p.m., you could be okay.
Having said that, the only one we're returning to is 50's. It's one of our favorites!

We loved Sci Fi when we did it in June. I was very leery of eating there because I'd read so many bad reviews, but it was one of our favorite lunches. We requested a car in the front of the restaurant, and our waiter was absolutely wonderful -- so friendly and interactive. One thing that really surprised me about the place was how quiet it was. It was so refreshing getting out of the hot Florida sun and into that dark, nighttime-like atmosphere. People were chatting quietly to themselves, and watching the screen for the most part.

The food was fine, nothing spectacular. I thought my burger was good, and the appetizer was good too (I think we got spinach dip or something like that).

50s over Sci-Fi anyday. Food is so much better at 50s IMO. The atmosphere is cool at both but not worth going to Sci-Fi just to see it.

We have eaten at both and both have pretty basic menus. Sci-Fi has the whole drive in theather theme with the clips from old b-Sci-Fi movies and the 50's Prime Time is set up so that you feel as if you are eating in your mother's kitchen if you were in 1950's USA. If you can only do one and if you do not have any big Sci-Fi fans in your group go with the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

We did Prime Time last Sept. but I have booked an ADR for 7:50pm at Sci-Fi this year. I am VERY worried about the meal, as there seems to be sooo many bad reviews for this place. DS10 pirate: has ALWAYS wanted to eat here, so it's a GO for us! We weren't overly impressed with our meals last year at 50's: I had the pot roast, DS had the fried chicken and I think DH had the meatloaf. It was OK, just not that great....antics are FABULOUS though with the right server!!! Our "Mom" put my 6'5" firefighter DH with his nose to the wall for having elbows on the table. :guilty: ..AFTER WE WERE DONE EATING!!!!! She was a hoot and DH was soooo embarassed!!!!! Hmmm, maybe I should try to swith for 50's again just for a repeat of that!!!! :rotfl:

Sci Fi for lunch or '50s PT for dinner.

Sci Fi is great in the afternoon for a nice break in a cool, dark environment. You really can't go wrong there as long as you stick the onion rings/burger/milkshake order. The atmosphere really is fun.

50's PT has a great menu of classics (fried chicken, pot roast, etc) and the "adult beverage" menu is great for winding down after a day in the parks. Even if you don't get an over-the-top sever, it's still fun to watch other diners getting in trouble! :thumbsup2
