I made my ADR's for my May '06 trip today (180 days out). I didn't have any trouble with obtaining ADR's at any of my preferred restaurants (even got Le Cellier at my preferred time) except Sci-Fi at Disney/MGM. Most of the times for lunch on May 18 were almost gone, I was able to get a time at 1:40 PM. I have never eaten at Sci-Fi and wanted to give it try. Is this unusal for this restaurant?

It is a burger joint - and the kids LOVE it - the drive-in/movie is something most kids heard about but never experienced since they dont exist :( and were replaced with movie malls now showing StarWars Episode III in 47 closet sized theatres!

I LOVE PrimeTime - sister Stephanie was the BEST - I would wait 2 hours in line just to get her. The meals were much better then burgers and fries and we had a BLAST! She gave us all 50's nicknames, made us eat our veggies, and even put me in the corner for having a potty mouth (can you name 15 bodyparts that have only three letters - lid doesnt count because technically it is eyelid, the obvious answers are arm, leg, ect ect... I said ***, tit, and zit to make the 15). I cried. Everyone shamed me.

We had the dining plan, so we did appetizers, entrees and desserts. It was the best dining we did that week. And we did it all. The fun was PRICELESS!

I hope sister stephanie reads these boards. She is a GEM!

That is strange this far in advance, I usually don't have any problems getting an ADR there especially for lunch. But, you just never really know whats bringing the crowds in that day. :wave2:

We just walked in on VERY busy day in August. Of course after MONTHS of planning and asking my husband where he wanted to eat.... We were standing in front of Sci -Fi and he said "Lets eat here" ......I of course said "ARE YOU NUTS. :confused3 It's a very busy day NO WAY are we going to get in" BUT of course we did and We were seated in less than two min. and my DH says " I don't get what the big deal is with ADRS" ARRRGGGGGGGG

PS: He also got thru for Cindys on the first try !!! :earseek:

Sci Fi doesn't open up times before noon until about 30 days out (even though they open at 11 am). So try calling back closer to your dates and you may get an earlier time!

Not sure about how hard it is to get adr's but my guys love it and it is on the to do list.

I called for my ADR's last Friday for April & got Sci Fi for 11:30. I had no problem. So you can get them earlier than 12:00.

For my trip in October, times before noon didn't show up until 19 days before. Keep trying. Will warn you though that's it's not a place for amazing food. Some folks are really disappointed that it doesn't live up to the hype. Personally, I really enjoy it and go every trip. I also only go at lunch and only get a ham sandwich. The onion rings are pretty good, too!! Oh and if you decide to partake of a noontime drink, try the Milky Way, it's v-e-r-y yummy!

Cheers!

Yes, it is popular, but it isn't usually THAT popular. And the food is the pits. But it is a really neat experience, especially if you like the old monster movies.

In case anyone is wondering, all those movies really existed. I wrote down the names and the kids called Gramps and he remembered almost every one of 'em!

I hear it is a good place for deserts, milkshakes, etc...I was wondering about a mid afternoon for a snack..but the menus posted on the internet don't show any milkshakes....do they still offer them? All I see are alcoholic milk shakes on the menu...

The food is GREAT, if you know what to oder. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Burgers. Milkshakes. Onion Rings. Think drive-in food, enjoy the flicks, and soak up the atmosphere!

I believe your dates are leading up to the (likely) kick-off for the 2006 Star Wars Weekends at MGM and the Sci-Fi Dine In gets really busy then. I just made my 180 day ADRs yesterday, too, and was surprised that I got a 12:10 on Friday May 19 as that's probably the day the event begins. Aside from that, it IS popular---dining options at MGM are somewhat limited.

Try calling again in a week or so. Size of party can affect availability times. Ask again for the "Ideal" time, if not available ask for the closest before that time and the closest after that time (sometimes they miss an option).
ALSO, we've found that at some restaurants they can't fit a party of 2, but they can a party of 3 or 4 -- food for thought...
Good Luck!!!
