Sci-Fi hard to get?

We are at our 60 day mark for reservations today. We were able to get the ones we wanted, except for Sci-Fi Diner in HS. I was surprised. Our adult daughter, who, is going with us, has never eaten there and wants to try it. We looked at all the days we are there, lunch and dinner, and nothing. Is it because of Star Wars Land? I am not complaining, just curious.

I'm sure Star Wars land has an impact on Sci-Fi reservations.

Yep big impact IMHO, Galaxy's Edge is really missing having at least one other decent restaurant, IMHO only having Docking Bay 7 is not enough. SlimJim Roasters and Oga's just don't cut it.

Yes it’s hard! I tried when my 60 days opened and nothing was available. I tried every day for a month and nothing. I set an alarm on mouse dining and finally 2 days ago a 3:05 came through my alerts! I got it and was so happy. Sci Fi is our family tradition. I only had 2 people on this alert so I’m not sure if it would be harder for more people.
Oh and don’t forget dining reservations open at 5:45 now. They changed it.

Yes. We went recently, although it was a trip planned last minute. I checked constantly and signed up for mouses-watchers. We ended up getting several we wanted including Oga’s, 50s, Via Nap. and BOG. I never even saw an opening for Sci Fi at any point not got a notice from mouse-watchers that there was an opening - which was strange and unlike all others.

Restaurants are still operating at reduced capacity because of staffing issues. More might be added to the pool as more new CMs are trained. Wish you luck!

I am not even 100% sure that Sci-Fi is even open yet. I would for sure sign up for the Mouse-Watchers or Touring Plans reservation plan.

It is definitely open - we ate there last September and again in June. They are not filling every car - which means staffing issues. I using Touring Plans and such to get these ressies.

Sci Fi was always one of the more difficult ADRs to get at HS. Certainly with Galaxies Edge open, that has only gotten more difficult.

Yes - searching for 4 is a good idea, but don't go the other way - don't be that guy who books for 2 then shows up with 3.
Some places let you add an extra person at check-in on the app. I wouldn't risk it with a fixed seating setup, though. (i.e. the cars.) Not all places let you add extra guest(s).

I have always seen people say this and I have never understood. Is it really that different with crowd sizes between Summer and Fall? We always go in October and I have never had to fight to get an ADR anywhere. Even back when BoG first opened. I looked, it was there, and I booked the ADR.

We generally go in October. My experience is I can get most of what I want, but maybe not at the times I want. I keep looking and usually can eventually get them. I always do my ADRs at 60 days and most things are open. Within a few days, at most, you will not find the popular ones available.
Trying to find a California Grill at 6-9 pm on a Friday or Saturday night at 60+6 is probably not going to happen.
A less popular one like Skippers, most likely would be available.

Just got an alert that a 4:00 was available! By the time I got in there it was gone!

If you're searching for a party of 3, try changing it to 4. Many people have reported that strategy works and you aren't penalized if only 3 show up for your ADR. For some reason, the system seems to prefer even number parties to odd.

This! Especially for the Sci Fi, it does not like parties of 3, you have to round up to 4 or more. It sometimes helps with other restaurants as well.

Sci Fi should add breakfast hours! But staff shortage…
I loved the Star Wars Breakfast at Sci Fi once upon a time special event!

I am surprised the site doesn’t just target families of 6 for those reservations! Do they still have the other table service seating options?
Seems like they had umbrella style tables for example .
I would take anything just for a reservation…
Goodluck!

This is a quirk that pre-dated COVID. MDE/Sci-Fi was happy to sit 6, 2+4, or 2+2+2 at a car.

The picnic tables are usually used for walk-ups and/or larger parties.

I've been obsessively checking for dining for my dates in August, and I've only seen Sci Fi pop up once. I could have booked CRT about 10 times now, but people aren't letting go of Sci Fi. I'm not looking for it, but I know the frustration. I want Chef Mickey's, but nobody is canceling at decent toddler dining times.
