We have 4 children (11,9,6,1) and have the Dining Package. $125 per day for us. I have read that people say the Sci-Fi isn't a good choice for the Dining Package. According to my calculations, it's almost as good as Hollywood and Vine or Crystal Palace. Here's my calc: 3 adult entrees (avg $12 each) = $36. 5 appetizers (avg 5 each) = $25. 2 kids meals (5 each) = $10. 3 adult drinks ($2 each) = $6. 3 adult desserts ($5 each) = $15. 2 kids desserts ($1.29 each) = $3. That gets you to $95. Add 15% tip and 6.5% tax and you get $115. This compares to Hollywood and Vine at $91 before tax and tip. H&V is slightly cheaper.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Probably not. People always complain about how overpriced Sci-Fi is, then in the next breath say it's not worth using TS credits. Makes no sense! If you're going to eat there, it is worth using the credits.

We prefer having lunch there, but that's another matter.

It all depends on where you want to use your TS credits. We did an early dinner at Sci-Fi on the dining plan. We had a wonderful time. The worth is really in the enjoyment, not in the monetary value. Unless of course, you have a terrible experience and then the money comes into play ;)

I agree with the above posts... Sci Fi is a very enjoyable restaurant! So, chances are you aren't missing anything. It is true, you can probably pick cheaper items at Sci Fi... but if you are on the Dining Plan go ahead and pick the pricy ones... this is definitely very fun and one of my favourites! ;)

ITA! Sci-fi is fun, and kids love it. It is pricey for what kind of food you get but if you like the sounds of the menu, go for it! You could eat in a pricey resturant and have a lousy time.

I quickly glanced at our tab at Sci Fi when we did the dining plan last month- I think it was close to $130 for 3 adults and 2 kids! And the best part- it was a FUN atmosphere! We weren't out to make the "most for our buck" with the dining plan- we chose places we thought we would all most enjoy. Two of us had burgers, dad had a ham sandwich, the boys had a hot dog and chicken strips, plus desserts and fabulous appetizers! I'm glad we did it!

We are a family of 3 (2A/1C) and plan on doing lunch at SciFi. We'll probably stick to burgers, DS will have a kid's meal, DH might have a shake. For us it is better to pay out of pocket and use two extra adult TS meals at Yachtsman for date night, then use extra child credit for CP buffet. We have more TS planned than credits for, so this worked out to be the cheapest meal to pay OOP for in our situation. For a full up dinner there with desserts, etc it is probably worth it.

We ate at Sci-Fi last month and if I had to do it over again, DH and I would have split a meal. We went for lunch and it was so much food. We both had milkshakes for our drinks, we split the onion rings and artichoke dip for appetizers, both had burgers (veggie burger for me) and fries for lunch, and then the hot fudge sundae and cheesecake for dessert. I barely touched my burger I was so full. We were probably the most stuffed from this meal than any other on our trip.

The atmosphere was really fun, but, as others have said, the food wasn't that great. I was especially disappointed in the milkshakes. It seems like everyone raves about them and I thought that my chocolate shake tasted like a Frosty from Wendy's.

We went for lunch here and I wanted to save my TS credits so I paid OOP for this one. I had only a shake and DH had the spinach dip, burger I think and drink and I swear the bill was like $30 after tip! I thought it was pretty high considering I really didn't even eat, but like others have said, if you use your TS you might not mind as much. Everyone should try it once just for the environment!

We are paying for the dining plan for our upcoming trip, yet plan on paying OOP for our lunch ressie at Sci-fi. I also planned a few more TS meals than CS, so I figured we would have to pay OOP for a few anyhow. We are 2A, 2C (7 and 4) and when we go out to dinner we usually order 1 appetizer and 1 dessert anyhow, so we can do the same in a place like Sci-fi and still have plenty to eat. I am hoping DH and I and the 2 kids can even split a meal here and there - the ones we will pay OOP for, and I still feel there will be plenty to go around. We are not ones who need a 4 course meal 2-3 times a day.
I have dined at Sci-fi before with DH (pre-kids) and I thought it was cool (nice decor and theming), and since my kids have not been yet, I figured they would like it.

ENJOY!

I'd go ahead & use the dining plan & enjoy. Sci Fi is one of the restaurants that everyone in our group really seems to enjoy. We've had a great time there using the silver plan & plan on using the dining plan there next year.
Why not relax, order what you'd like & have a great time with your family.
I hope you have a fantastic trip! :wave2:

We went there last year and have ADRs for this December! We love it there and the kids have so much fun! We were all stuffed when we left and thought the food was great!
