Sci Fi Dine-In Theatre OR Hollywood & Vine For Lunch?

I've never been to Hollywood and Vine and have never read anything good about it. I:lovestrucSci-Fi!!! The atmosphere is sooo cool and their burgers are fantastic!!:thumbsup2

They are the 2 worst restaurants I have ever been to on disney property! Go to 50s Prime Time Cafe or Mama Melroses

We love the Sci-Fi. However, we also play it safe and get burgers, onion rings and shakes. Hollywood and Vine is :scared:

I personally hated the sci fi drive in! The set up is very strange - you sit in cars, so only 2 people in a row - and you face the screen.
Depends on the number of people and ages in your party i would say.

DH and i went for the first time in october, and we were seated in the last row of a car that was already occupied by a family of 4 (dad and son in 1st row, mom and daughrer in 2nd row).
I spent my whole meal being stared at by the little girl in front of us - really odd. And that was the second table - the first one they tried to sit us at was with another family and they had a high chair and thier other kids were climbing all over the car - even the seats not assigned to them. When the woman tried to sit us there she had to ask the parents to remove her children from the row she wanted to put us in. Both the mother and I protested and we were moved to the location mentioned above.

I wish i had done more research on how the seating actually worked before we booked it. I suppose I should mention it was on our honeymoon, and just lunch, but it was definitely not the experience we thought it would be. And the food was only so so.

Sci-Fi for us, it's my son's favourite restaurant at the whole of WDW, so it's a must do for us. We didn't enjoy Hollywood and Vine at all, so if we could only go to one, it would be Sci-Fi

Sci-Fi.

The only way I would eat at H&V again is if it's a character meal and I had a child that loved those characters. Went for dinner (Fantasmic DP) and it was the worst buffet.

Sci-Fi Dine-In for sure.

Agree with the poster above, H&V is really just a terrible buffet- the worst I've been to.

We have dined at H & V, Sci-Fi, and 50's Prime Time and like Sci-Fi the best both for the food (which was nothing too special -- more like a burger joint - think Sonic - ) and the unique environment. My daughter really liked sitting in the car to eat! I am sure my boys would like it now but we have other plans this trip!

My kids didn't really get into the 50's prime time theme or food (other than dessert and the onion rings) and none of us cared for the buffet at H & V (and we love buffets). The one redeeming quality of H & V was that we had an awesome waitress/cm. She was sweet and attentive!

I vote for Sci-Fi, especially for lunch. Since it's dark, cool, and lower-noise level, it's so refreshing after a morning in the park, and helps revitalize you for the afternoon. The food is good for what it is-better than CS, but it's not V&A.

I did not care for Hollywood & Vine. It was very hectic and the food was :scared: yucky... We have reservations at Sci-Fi for our upcoming trip in a week. I am really looking forward to it.

Sci Fi has my vote. H&V isn't worth your time or money. Food there is terrible & the atmosphere isn't much better.

Sci-Fi just for the chance to sit and relax and enjoy the old B-movie trailers and cartoon shorts.

The food is forgettable so go for the safer choices.

Hmm...appears they've dropped the turkey sandwich??

I haven't been in a few months. That would stink as that's what I usually ordered, along with onion rings and a chocolate shake (or a vanilla coke)

Sci Fi al the way. While I can see how it might stink to sit behind someone else, in the end this place is about the drive in movie experience. Everyone is riveted to the screen. Sci Fi is the one and only WDW eatery we have made ADR's at each of our trips (had to cancel one time due to a family member being sick and we were crushed to not get to go and break our Sci Fi streak!). We love the burgers, shakes, reuben, fries, onion rings and real made to order cherry cokes.

Its generally quite and relaxing. In spite of the movie clips playing, you feel relaxed because the diners (and most of the kids) are quiet. Just eating and watching!

H&V is my least favorite place I have been to in 12 trips to WDW. I agree with the poster who said they'd only go there if they had kids dying to see those characters.

Out of the two I'd pic Sci Fi as well - but honestly I'd pick 50s Prime Time over both of them :goodvibes

We also love Mama Melrose...
