Has anyone dined here? Is it cute? :confused3 I have been DYING to go there, but he never go to MGM. I'd be interested in any little information anyone could give me.

Thanks. :yay:

We tried it last trip. It's kinda neat sitting in the car like booth with the lights down just like a drive in, really good milk shakes, but the food overall just not that great for us, more paying for the dinning experience. Most of the wait staff were on roller skates too. Large movie screen plays just bad sci fi clips. I am glad we tried it, but probably wouldn't go back. It's one of things you must try once at Disney.

IMO, its a great place for lunch--burgers, onion rings, milkshake, etc. But we tried it once for dinner and, to put it kindly, it was not very good.

Lots of fun, though.

As they would say on American Idol...AHHH it was just ok for me :) It was a neat experience and we are going this trip. My ds5 will get a kick out of it for lunch.... but not high on our priority list... I wouldn't be disappointed if we didn't do it...

We really enjoy it. We go every trip. For dinner we have tried the Butcher Tender Steak and shrimp penne pasta and enjoyed them both enough to try them again.

Yeah, see I just figured I'd order a hot dog or cheeseburger or something. Didn't look at it as a fine cuisine type of establishment. Just looked like it would be a cute "date" spot. Make me feel like Sandra Dee and Danny Zuko.

If that is what you want, you will no doubt love it. Get a chocolate milk shake to share with two straws and it will be even better. ;)

We love the Sci Fi - the theming is the best Disney has to offer IMHO. We have booked dinner again for our August trip - not fine dining but more than acceptable food. Love the cocktails with the light up ice cubes.

We enjoyed our meal and experience there very much. The burgers were good. The hot fudge sundaes were great!

We were there in January and really enjoyed it. The food was good (not great, but good). We were there four years ago and the food was aweful (undercooked). We swore we would not go back. This time we tried it because we were with a friend who had never been there before and we were able to get in at opening before the crowds. Thye must have had a lot of complaints (certainly there were a lot on this Board over the years) and made improvements. I think you will enjoy it. Jay

of the food being subpar, expensive and not worth it. Am I glad we didn't listen! We ate lunch there last October and loved it! The food was pretty good (not incredible but what do you expect?), the service was great and the whole themeing must be seen! We will go back, for sure, during our next visit!

Have a great time!

We went years ago (1997 I think) and loved it. I've read a lot of threads about how the food isn't good, but we aren't into really fancy food. If you want, like you said, a date type of place - burgers, onion rings, etc - then I highly recommend Sci-Fi. We'll definitely be going back on our Aug trip with the children.

Is it possible to book an ADR for Sci-Fi (late in the evening) for just dessert and cocktails? :confused3

My biggest complaint about it that in 2004, when DH and I went, the restaurant was 75 percent empty and we waited 20 minutes for our ADR and then they stuffed us in the backseat of a car with four other people right back by the door. The lady in front of me kept flicking her waist-length hair all over me and my food. It was disgusting. Everytime the kitchen door opened, we heard all the noise inside and saw the lights, and all the servers hovered behind our car. We were so miserable because we felt like we couldn't even talk without these people listening to us and any pictures had them crowded in with us.

Not sure why they didn't give us our own car –– there's were maybe only 25-30 people in the whole restaurant -- especially since the car right next door was empty. We had burgers, fries, onion rings and milkshakes, but I don't even remember the food.

If they try to do that again, just tell you you'd like your own car if it's possible. We weren't comfortable at all and won't go back.

Think of it more as an attraction than a restaurant and you'll have a good time. Getting just dessert sounds like a great idea.

Last time we went, I just got a burger, and it was OK, nuthin' special. But DD and friend got the shrimp penne pasta, and just loved it. I snagged a bite and was pleasantly surprised. Go figure.

My daughter and I did this the last time we went. We split a dessert, it was fun.
