I'm just wondering if and when your child's school has a Fall Break. I've been reading threads where people mention them. In Atlanta, our kids get off Columbus Day, but I think that's it.

Up here in NH we don't have a fall break. The first vacation the kids get up here is Christmas. I think a lot of people find the fall a good time to go.

NJ has a teacher's convention in November where every school in the state has a 4 day weekend. You'll see LOTS of Jersey folks at Disney around that time.

My DD school is closed for a few days in october ( 4-6 Ithink) I think for the jewish holidays and then for columbus day. So I am planning on taking her out of school for 2 more days and use that for ... what else .. more time at WDW!!!

School here in Henry Co. (south of Atlanta) are out the week of Sept 12-16th. We are planning to go down then.

In our area of NC, our schools are out for the week of 10/10 (Columbus Day). We usually go to WDW for a long week end and it is usually very busy then. MNSSHP and F&W is going on at that time too.

We had our first long Fall Break this past Oct. Eleven days, previously it had been four days. For 2005 I think it starts Oct.6 and they go back to school Oct 17.

I love it! :sunny: WDW is great that time of year! :cool1:

No Fall break for us. We do get one long weekend each month, sometimes it's just a three-day weekend and sometimes it's a four-day weekend. We get out a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, and a week for Spring Break (which starts Monday).

When we went in October, ds had a four day weekend so he didn't miss as much school. We went to MNSSHP and it was crowded. Colombus Day was our "day off" and we loaded up and went to Kennedy Space Center, so I have no idea how crowded the World was on that day. For the entire length of our stay October 8-15 last year, the parks were really nice. The waits weren't too bad. We were able to do a lot of FastPass and kid swap and most lines were only about 15 minutes, with a few pushing the 30 minute mark. I would go back in the Fall in a heartbeat.

For here in Massachusetts and Upstate NY we get Columbus Day weekend off and then nothing again until Thanksgiving and that's usually just 3 days.

We're going down in Oct and I am pulling my girls from school... They'll have all their work with them.

Our schools are out for a full week in October. The past two years (all that my DD has been in school) it has been the first week of Oct. That's when we went to WDW last year. We were leaving as the Columbus Day crowds were coming in. I've heard a rumor, tho, that next fall we may have the week of Columbus Day off. I hope it's not true. I prefer the first week.

This year our school district has Thu 10/26 & Fri 10/27 off for Fall Break and the elementary schools also have Wed 10/25 off for Parent Conferences; they also get out early on Tue 10/24.

Thanks for all the replies. Madge, is your long break for a college or regular school? 2 weeks off for a non-holiday time seems like a long time. I would have loved that when I was a kid.

Some school districts in Alabama are out for a full week every October, usually the second or third week of the month I think. Here in Florida, there is a two-day state-wide teacher in-service every year in mid-October (this year it's the 13th and 14th) and that gives us a four-day weekend.

We're usually out for 7 - 10 days around Columbus Day in Southeastern Alabama.
