School vacations in April

Just wondering when most public schools are off in April. In New York it varies depending on the school district. Are schools in the south off during the week of April 25 - April 29? Just wondering how the crowds will be during our stay from April 23-April 27 - thanks

My part of Fl is not off in April. We are off this week & then that is it until the end of the school year, which is May 26th. I am in SW FL

It's kinda weird how schools up north have a normal spring break. Broward county (Southeast Florida) was off last week, and Osceola (Orlando) is off right now. Broward students have early release on the 28th, and 29th of April off, but I wouldn't expect a huge increase because of it.

Schools are taking spring and summer break earlier and earlier each year. I think they need to move it forward a month.

Our spring vacation is the last week of april. We just had last week off for easter vacation. I think the years past the 2 were combined but because easter was so early and passover late they gave us 2 separate ones. You all get out of school in the south in May while we go till the 24th of June. When do schools start back up again? We dont go back till after labor day.

I'm in the mid-atlantic we had our spring break end today,but we are going 4/23-4/30,and I hope it's only NY who has their spring break during this time. I think I read that Mass. and a few other northeast states have their spring break the week before. I have always gone to florida the last week of april when I was growing up with my parents and we took our first family vacation to wdw/universal in the last week of april 2003, I am prepared for it to be busier since from what I have read it seems alot of people are going. It still can't be as bad as july, I went with friends when I was 16 and I would never go to wdw/universal in the summer again.

Broward county starts school again on August 8th.
Can you believe that? The middle of the summer if you ask me. The weather is still hot all the way thru September.

Schools in Ohio do the same thing, and it causes problems for the parks. They close during the week in September because they can't get workers, the kids have gone back to school. Yet the weather is great at Cedar Point. It's really sad to look at the web cams of an empty park when temps are 80. CP opens in May, and some of those days have temps in the 40s. They need to stay open full time thru September if you ask me.

Same thing with the Florida parks. September is a ghost town, yet the weather is perfect.

Yes, we have April vacation, we need another trip as much as our kids do
(we just went in Feb)LOL!

April vacation is 3rd week of April here.

Yes, we do pull the kids out a day or so earlier=we drive.

Their school didnt start till the Wednesday after Labor day, and because Labor day was late this year, we lost a week. So, the BOE decided not to have Spring Break. Had they still had it, it would have been this week we're in. Not in April.

Did you have too many snow days? No Easter vacation AND no Spring Break? What is your last day? We didnt start till after Labor Day either but we had both breaks. I never can figure out how they decide the calendar year!

In Massachusetts we celebrate Patriots Day, the Monday closest to April 19th, which marks the "shot heard round the world" and the beginning of the American Revoluation. I believe Maine is the only other state that celebrates Patriots Day. As a result the public schools have historically used that as spring vacation week. We head down to Disney/Universal every year that week. Sometimes we luck out as Easter will oftentimes fall during that time and we can take advantage of later operating hours in the parks.

In NH our vacation week (Feb. & Apr.) always falls the week after MA has had their school vacation week. So, our week off in April is during the last week, & that is when we will be heading down to Universal. We will be pulling the kids out of school a day early because we are driving down and then they will miss school a day after vacation because we will be heading home then. We wanted to get in as many days as we could without the kids missing too much at school.

We're in the Chicago suburbs and we only have 1 week of spring break -- usually the last week of March. This year it just happens to fall during Easter.

In most Tennessee counties Spring Break is the 3rd or 4th week of March and schools are out at the end of May. Our last day is May 20. We go back around August 10 when it's blistering hot. I too wish school would stay in session until mid June and we would not start back until at least late August.
