Alright, so I'm an incoming Freshman (cringe!) and as school starts on this coming Monday I've come to realize that we didn't recieve any school supply type of list. This school is public, and I've never been to public school before so I'm no exactly sure how this whole supply thing works. So, if any one here has any experience, do you normally supply your own or what? I've tried e-mailing the school, but they didn't respond. My parents just said to wait it out untill the first day, but I don't want to come unprepared and I just LOVE school supply shopping! Is just coming with some basics a good idea or what?

Thank you!

You'll probably want binders for each subject, pens, pencils, AGENDA BOOK!, notebooks (probably not paper because it tears so easily) and a calculator depending what math you're in! :flower:

I would show up to school on the 1st day with the basics. Have a pen/pencil, paper or notebook and maybe a folder. Each teacher will most likely request certain things. Some may require a notebook, or a folder or some a binder.

I think instead of an angeda book or something I'd rather just get a PDA. I have a tendancy to write waaayy too big for all the little spaces. But that is really a good idea.

And no notebooks for sure...I love binders.

Psh, they are making me take Algebra I again even though I took it in 8th grade and passed.

Easy A ;)

At my school, each teacher tells us what we need to get on the 1st day of school. Don't buy too much in advanced because for example, some teachers tell you what size binder you will need for that class. Bring a notebook, pens, pencils, and maybe a highliter on your first day. Good luck!

My son is in HS now and if there were any specific supplies he needed they were posted on the classroom doors on day one. Most of his teachers simply expected some looseleaf paper, a folder and a notebook. The exception was his math class, in which he needed a graphing calculator.

Good luck on your first day!

Good point! haha My shedule is so horrible though. It's like

French I
PE (Why? I'm playing sports...)
Study Period
Algebra I (WHY!? haha)
ICP Science
Drama
AP English
Computer Literacy (I am definatly changing this class to something more complicated. I can write HTML/CSS for Pete's Sake!)

The best part is that all the classes are almost all on the other side of the school of the school or completely different building.

Edit:

GOOD IDEAS EVERYONE! Thank youuu!

Does the school ststem have a website?? If so the middle and high schools usually post their lists on the schools' page and since their are so many subjects you might have alot to buy!!

Every year in high school I had a binder for each class. Most of my science classes required a 1 1/2 inch binder, because there were so many handouts and notes. The other classes I could usually get away with having a 1 inch binder. I filled the binders with filler paper (college rule). You will go through more paper than you can imagine. Get pens (blue and black), pencils, erasers. I'd suggest a small pack of colored pencils and fine line colored markers, because you will still have projects. A planner is so important. If you don't have a ruler, get one, even if you only use it for projects. See what calculator the math teacher and any science teachers want you to have. By the end of high school (I just graduated) I had quite the calculator collection, because it seemed every teacher wanted me to have a different one.

On the one hand, you don't want to look like a geek by being too overprepared or, for that matter, burdened by carrying around too much stuff. On the other hand, you want to be able to take notes and carry home any papers that are handed out.

If it were me, I would take a spiral notebook, a little loose paper in a folder (in case you have to hand the paper in -- so many teachers hate the pages torn out of spiral notebooks) and at least one pen and one pencil.

Your teachers will tell you if they want you to purchase special supplies (notebooks for journal entries, special folders, a certain calculator, whatever).

(At the public high school I went to, a few teachers required a notebook for journal entries and otherwise, it was mostly just college-ruled paper or typewritten assignments.)
