When we got up this morning there was a dusting of snow on the ground . . .no delays were being reported . . .DH left for work at 6:20 am and called and said they were now reporting 90 minute delays. He suggested that I go into work late because the roads were like a skating rink underneath the dusting of snow.

DD went outside around 8:25 to get the H.S. bus . . .no bus showed up . . .The buses weren't able to get the kids to school this morning and they were asking if the parents could drive them in . . . .Soooooooooooo my neighbor drove DD in and I took DS in to elementary school . . .Almost made me feel like I was living somewhere in the boonies! Apparently our State wasn't prepared this morning for this kind of weather . . .Some towns got absolutely nothing, while others were a virtual ice rink.

It was a pretty crazy morning!

Same situation here this morning.

My DH went off the road in my car this morning at 6:20 and was stuck along with 4 other cars on the same road. He couldn't reach his job site, he radioed the other guys and they couldn't get there either. No sanders anywhere in sight.

My DD11 waited for her bus for over 1/2 hour due to the weather and just as I told her to come back home on her walkie talkie, the bus showed up. I was scared for her to get on the bus. I called the school to make sure they got their safely and they got there 20 minutes late, but left other neighborhoods without a ride because the bus driver was too nervous to go down their streets.

I hate days like these :(

Oh wasnt it horrible???
DS's bus never showed up so I drove him and his friends in late, after I dropped off my youngest DS at preschool. The distance between the 2 schools is probably 1- 1 1/2 miles and it took over an hour!!!! I couldnt believe it. And 1 hour with 3 kids in the car is not fun! ;)

Our buses run their routes twice everyday- 1st time at 715 picking up middle and high school, then again at 805 picking up elementary.

1st bus came, bit of snow on the ground, however our highway dept had already salted....

then the blizzard came, dropped 2" of snow in 45 minutes, our bus followed the plow/salt truck up our hill...

It's great to have a highway dept that knows what it's doing and a town government that doesn't balk at high winter maintenance budgets..our buses rarely have a problem
