School closing for flu outbreak???

How weird! My guess is that someone said the closure was due to the "flu" but they really meant a gastrointestinal virus, not influenza. That would make more sense in terms of a sudden mid-day closure. Although, calling the emergency contact before the parent doesn't make much sense either so I guess things with that school don't necessarily have to make sense...

Well, that news story explains it (though still it may or may not have been actual influenza, just something "flulike") but I still don't understand why they had to close down mid-day. Like the OP, I think it would have been more sensible of them to dismiss as usual and just close the after-care program. I can't imagine that another hour or two of exposure would make that much of a difference.

So it turns out it was stomach bug (like norwalk virus.) My friend and her kids never got it (or anyone at our house.)

Another friends kids had been sick all week with it.

I think that makes more sense.

I was just talking to a women who's I was her kids preschool teachers. Her youngest goes to that school and she loves it. I have heard others say the same. I guess I will know more myself next year.

The scary thing is her son, who was in my 4 year old preschool class, is starting HS next year. :earseek: I feel old. :rolleyes1

edited to add, yes that link is the story and that is the school. I somehow missed that when you posted it. Sorry.
